This is golfwrx... I thought it was a requirement to have at least two full bags just to be able to post on here.

That's interesting. After my Saturday post, eBay sent me a link for a bloc of three Z585 sets - apparently new - at $675 each.

Were the Z585 and Z785 models less popular than prior Z-series irons?

I don’t think it’s a popularity issue....I think the Z*85 irons sold well. I think it was to clear them out for the shiny new models.

Just did this for real. Was helping my buddy get some clubs and $1k was his budget. It was all the more difficult since he’s left-handed...

G400 Max - $225

M4 3w - $100

Mavrik 4-PW - $450

Mavrik AW - $115 (Brand New)

SM6 56* - $75 (Brand New)

Already had a bullseye so he’s sticking with that.

Total $965

He still needs some kind of gap wedge because the Mavrik AW is 46* (wow Callaway...) so will likely end up just over, but I was pretty proud of what we were able to get him.

From what I've seen on the bay, FINDING left handed clubs is tougher, but once you do the prices are lower (due to less demand) than the same thing in the right handed version.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

Then when I upgrade any of my other gamers, I move the outgoing to the beach house, and sell the oldest  on the bay.  That way I get a bit of an offset toward the new, and know that the set at the beach house works for me.  I've done this in stages over time - Driver, Fairway woods, Wedges and Irons.

im with 5bay. We all upgrade clubs sooner or later. My additional set or guest sets are always clubs that have been upgraded. Same goes with everything, bag, shoes, hats, rain gear,  balls etc.

I had just sold all my old stuff. Anyway, just ordered a set of 699pro irons from Sub70. Great company to work with.

Nice.  That is the way to go, especially if you have to get something different than standard, such as lie angle or length adjustments.  Best of luck with the new sticks!

I have put together two complete sets of left handed clubs via BST in the past month.  Greats sets - both came out to about $800.  Been a fun challenge to outfit my 18 and 20 year old sons with their first sets as they are picking up the game.  If you are left handed and don’t really have specific clubs in mind, I had great luck asking the lefty sellers if they had anything else they wanted to sell, and often, they did!  As 5baytjd said, far fewer left handed clubs out there...  probably like 50:1 posts in bst vs lefty bst.

I would totally agree.  That way you are familiar with them and they fit you.  I have a second set of previous gamers at parents AZ house, sitting there waiting for me to arrive with a small travel bag and get on the course!  Travel is much easier that way!
