Well that's damn ridiculous. I'll shoot you a DM when I get home.

Hey thanks for the awesome CS. I just got a call from the gym. They found it! I am relieved as I thought for sure it was stolen since they didn’t have it at the desk.

So glad to hear it wasn't stolen, hopefully it was just an honest mistake by someone who thought it was the gym's equipment

What’s the thinking behind the opposite side swings?

Hi, thanks for the question. There are a lot of benefits to swinging from the opposite side when training for speed or just in general. You'll see an increase in range of motion, a more balanced strength and flexibility profile overall as well as a better feel of your body in "space" whilst swinging. An increase in overall balance while swinging is another great benefit.

It will feel awkward at first but over time swinging the opposite direction becomes more fluid and natural. Nice to be able to chip out from under a bush too 😂.

Too be even more.long winded another training analogy would be the idea of only doing leg extensions and never any curls, you'll have bigger, stronger quads but no hamstrings. Same with stretching your legs, of you only stretched your quads your hamstrings are going to get weaker and tighter over time just like the strong bs weak side "golf muscles".

Hope that helps!

Mine bit the bullet today. Kinda scary. Usually I do this by the gym and I could have hurt some one. Instead it was in my park. It flew off during my second warm up swing, through the shrubs and crashed into an apparel manufacturer wall 50 yards away. I always check prior to starting to make sure they are screwed in.

not yet. Hoping to get insight from them here. Will email. Used it basically for a year and a half. I guess this wears out over time? TBH, after what happened today, idk if i'd be able to swing this the same way again. If i was turned 180, this would have belined for a house in the neighborhood, and if I was it the gym, this could have caused significant damage/injury

Those threads aren't just beat, they're trashed.  With the threads in that condition it was only a matter of time before that weight flew off.

My expectation, given the condition of the threads in that weight, is that, unless the material in the weights is significantly softer than that used in the shaft, the threads in the shaft are trashed, too.

I got a response from Andrew. Sounds like this was a huge anomaly. I am still hesitant. I may just focus on driver swings for now doing some Par 4 Success work and maybe I will come around to this again. If I do, I will need to make sure I am in a super safe environment. Don't want these flying off at over 100 mph again. I will say, this trainer did really help my speed. up from 102 to 120 dry swings over 2 years with on course hovering around 110-114.

Depends upon what he meant by "huge anomaly."  If he meant the threads being in such poor condition: Ok, maybe.  But, the threads being in the condition they were, IMO it was almost a dead certainty those weights were going to part ways with the shaft eventually.

It'd be interesting to hear from other users on the condition of the threads on their MaxSwingSpeed trainers' weights.

Hey all,

Finally had a chance to get to my computer to respond to the issue that popped up today. To start I'll say that obviously, I'm extremally grateful that no one was injured. It's like seeing a clubhead fly off at a driving range, your half laughing and half glad it didn't fly towards anyone.

I will do my best to not come off as defensive, I know text can read that way very easily. As for calling it a "huge anomaly", I base that on the hundreds of units sold along with the 3+ years of demoing, testing and using the same trainer personally. I still use my original prototype when I do videos or sneak out to the course and I can honestly say I have never seen or been contacted about anything like what happened today. I am grateful for that and if it was ever a concern I either wouldn't have tried to sell the trainer or I'd stop selling it immediately.

The one message I have received about a trainer shearing off was from a guy who accidently hit asphalt with it when taking a swing in a parking lot, I'd say that was an outlier too.

I have had one return due to shipping damage and another return due to a back injury but that guy came back and re-purchased a month later. Quality issues on any part of the trainer hasn't been a problem to date and as I said before if it becomes an issue I will roll up shop and move on to something else.

I would love to hear from anyone out there about the wear and tear on the threads if there is any.

Thanks as always and my sincerest apologies again for this issue.

Well, I take the lack of responses as a good thing that no one else has likely had these kind of failures 🙂

I am. It works quite well, but you have to continue the training. I originally gained 4-5 MPH, but stopped training and lost the speed improvement.

Restarted and it's working well. Can't beat the price. Only thing I did was install a MCC +4 with four extra wraps so the grip matches my clubs.

Just started speed training again with the MSS after having set it aside for a while.  I’m in my 60’s and I won’t be doing any of the kneeling or off-hand reps, since those have always seemed like a recipe for injury (for me).  In addition to the MSS, I’ll be spending a lot of time in the gym (which I already do) doing total body and core work, primarily with TRX bands, kettlebells, and other TPI recommended stuff. Attached are my baseline numbers on an HD Golf simulator; I’ll post more if I see any progress.

Okay, here’s the latest numbers, if anyone is interested.  I haven’t really dug into them too deep, but overall I think they look pretty positive:IMG_0866.jpeg.974e8908e5e0b7a68ff46ee7025974c0.jpeg

Another update…clubhead speed up another tick over last week, had a couple of 107’s, starting to think 110 might be within reach.  Ball speed creeping up too.

Seems I’ve settled into speed training two to three times a week as a supplement to my other gym work, and so far this has been sustainable.

Staying the course. 🏌️♂️

Not a dedicated training session but I hit a personal best 109 for the first time after my sim round today.  That surpasses anything from my previous speed work from a few years ago.
