Is this just a commercial or is there actually a documentary?

A "commercial" done in a documentary style.  These types of promotional pieces are not too uncommon, particularly when your audience is the very affluent . . . the focus becomes one of understated refinement, experiencing the finer things in life, and the 'you have arrived' perspective.  Generally, this style of promotion tries to occupy that mindset of connecting with your audience through a sense of shared values . . . that what's important is being driven to succeed, that you push yourself, but at the end of the day, you are the author and arbiter of your own success as you define it and not someone else.  But also remember to be a complete person you need to relax and enjoy the finer things in life (ostensibly, like driving a new porsche, or taking up photography with the new $6,000 camera that you bought).😆  After all, we live in the Age of Persuasion or Under the Influence . . .

Or perhaps Thailand?  😉

Nay.

A ROK passport will be more advantageous to me when I want to chat up the short skort knee high Korean ladies at the courses here.😂

Besides.....I don't think I have ever been paired up with a Thai lady on a golf course....and ya also gotta check and make sure they aren't a Lady Boy.

🤣

My best golf vacation.....a chartered packaged trip....3 nights in Bangkok and 7 days of varying golf courses based at the Springfield Resort just north of Hua Hin.

Thailand...so much fun and culture....we had a BLAST.

My regret was not going to a Muay Thai fight night at the main arena in Bangkok.

We all had so much fun venturing twice to Patpong...Bangkok's Red Light district...it was a GONG SHOW....we were all with our wives....it's a tourist trap.

I heard Pattaya is quite seedy...where the Honda is played.

Phuket is supposedly really nice.

I heard Chang Mai is really cheap.....a couple extended their trip....$15 CAD/night for a A/C motel and it included transportation from the Chang Mai airport to the motel....lol.

I understand that Vietnam is also a great golf destination.

But these charter golf trips are no longer the great deals they were 20 years ago.

Pattaya is a hustlers paradise - thai hustlers harrasing you, that is... Never going there again lol...

Chiang Mai is great place - site of one Southeast Asian games in the past... there's also Chiang Rai - not as touristy but more hiking which is my kinda thing... (Love hiking the camelback in AZ, for example... )

Laguna Phuket is fantastic - been there at least 2x, can't recall how many exactly as those a boondoggles paid for at company expense for team bldg blahblah lol. It was all expenses paid for so... I'll take it lol.

Can't remember all other places I've been to there, one bordered with Malaysia (edit: I remember now after googling it - Hat Yai in songkhla province - drove it from penang malaysia) - I recall women waiting outside the hotel hallways(!) - no, I didn't call for any, just found it odd hotel security allowed them to loiter there lol. (It was a more rural place/hotel) - the city's name escapes me lol. Visited temples there, etc. Cheap shopping (cheap relative to SG, that is lol)

PS I'd still choose a Japanese passport over any other Asian passport lol. (The ninja/samurai in me beckons lol).

Btwn Phuket, Bali, Penang, Boracay/El Nido-- I'm biased to the latter then Bali, Phuket and then lastly Penang... (Haven't been to Vietnam myself)

Remembered Hat Yai - after googling it lol

1) Yes, I've heard Chiang Rai is nice and great value.

2) LOL...I used to smoke...quit in 2012....in Bangkok....I think it was maybe 6am.....I'm outside the hotel having a smoke....a hooker and her "client" walk out and the "trick" flags down a taxi to leave....the hooker looks at me and smiles....I finish my smoke and walk into the hotel....I hear footsteps behind me....I turn around and it's the hooker...I look further...and the hotel entrance doored got jammed open and didn't close...I think the hooker took that as a sign I wanted some "services"🤣

On our China vaca...one of the hotels had a HUGE entrance/lobby area and retail space.....a ton of hookers wandering around some were absolute SMOKESHOWS....it was about 2am....another smoke break.

I head back up to my room.

As the elevator door opens....a hooker is in the elevator...she doesn't leave....I walk into the elevator....but I don't push my floor number...the elevator doors close....the hooker smiles at me and asks if I want a "date"🤣...I say no....she asks me again...I say no again.....finally I point to my wedding ring...she smiles....I push the open door button...she leaves.🤣

At another hotel on the China vaca...it's around 4am....yes I'm a light sleeper......I'm chatting outside with the valet.....a Bentley is parked near the entrance...30 seconds later....a young Chinese guy walks out of the hotel....and drives off in the Bentley.....10 seconds later a really nice looking young lady walks out....walks to the street....someone arrives and drives her off.🤣

Callaway has a new driver commercial....FIGJAM, Xander & Rahm.....it also featured Lucky 6 and Sagstrom.....I doubt many GC viewers know of Lucky 6 or Sagstrom.

Cally's only popular LPGA pro is Wie...but she's basically playing Mom nowadays.

I guess we'll have to wait until Jan 1, 2022 to recognize a female golfer in a commercial....another Cally commercial with FIGJAM and the Zhangster.

Looks like Sakura Yokomine intends to only play in Japan next year and let’s be honest probably not coming back to the LPGA. She never did as well as she could have on the LPGA. I remeber on 4-5 occasions at Mizuno, Lorena’s event and in Indianapolis she was very close. Didn’t she also lead or co-lead at the USWO after 54 holes once?

No surprise....when it doesn't COUNT....Lexi is putting well at the QBE.

Hmmmm....it's not shocking that Lexi is playing and the unpopular & non marketable women's Rolex Ranked #1 is not participating...you know the pro that's headed for a $100M seven year endorsement.🤣

I'm not surprised a Korean was not invited...Greg Norman is an Aussie like Jan Stephenson....just sayin.

It's been the talk of the town; Tiger woods respects Nelly Korda so much, he decided to join her in this tournament:

Tiger Woods set to return to golf, will play with son Charlie at PNC Championship

That CRACK you're smoking is POTENT.....hopefully your dealer isn't gouging you.🤣...damn Covid has made everything so expensive.

You know the PNC organizers will be testing Petr to make sure he's NOT JUICED.

I had a feeling Eldrick might play....gotta believe Charlie really wants to play so he can SMACK talk JT.

On a field like this - 120, i guess qschoolers have no chance anyway right?  (eg medalist wont even play as she'd be priority #130)

Good news is that most Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese, Chinese, Australian and European players will skip this early season event; up to or more than 30 of them

My calculation is a player with a #145 priority will probably get into the field, i.e. the #16 Q-Series qualifier.

So after top 100 CME.......career money, past 2 year winners, past 5 year major winners...what other categories are there???..... that would have 30 players from 100 to 130....before the 45 Q-Series players get priority.

Here’s the 2020 priority list to start the year. Muni He won Q-Series and started the year at 126.

You’re right that it’s not shocking since her sister’s wedding probably had priority.

Jess just posted some beautiful pictures of her wedding.

I was a bit shocked to see that the 6 bridesmaids are the LOVELY ladies of the Orchids of Asia and Robert Kraft is the best man.🤣

Johnny is a SLY one.

Congrats to the newlyweds.

I guess I need to go back to the sister's site to get this type of info. (Not that I'm seriously interested in all of their personal lives. But there's no harm in knowing.) Was it even out there that Jess was engaged? Who is Lydia Ko's BF? Again I don't care, but it seems the entire golf world would be protective of Lydia and not let her date just anyone. Congrats to "The ATM", as Judy refers to her, Chella Choi on her wedding!

I think the LPGA gals keep their relationships very private as I think disclosure might hinder their endorsement potentials???

Yet on the PGA tour...the pro's relationships, GF's are quite public....but then again....there's more attention/exposure  on the PGA tour vs. the LPGA tour.

At the Rolex Awards Dinner...Lydia did not disclose who her BF is.

Huh???...WTH???

Tina's new nickname is The Entire Golf World???....I always thought it was Dragon Lady.🤣

There is NO WAY Tina will allow Lydia to date or marry anyone other than a family member of a Korean Chaebol...just won't happen.

Koreans are very competitive and status conscious.

Tina won't allow Dr. Grace to showboat and have bragging rights....just sayin.

New Podcast Episode with guest ANNiE PARK.   She has an abundance of courage and grace and I suspect a story that is not very well known.    Of course, there are plenty of lighter moments, including a peek into the Sunday night parties at the Solheim Cup.

Quote

. . .

That's when adversity struck -- Annie was eventually diagnosed with a form of thyroid cancer, leading to the removal of her thyroid gland and a lifelong regimen of medication.  If that wasn't enough to contend with, then, it was a persistent and nagging back injury that nearly sidelined her career before it even really started.

With her characteristic understatement, stoicism, and grace,  Annie Park shares her story on how she went from NCAA Division 1 star to nearly quitting golf entirely.   A timely intervention from her sister and another friend helped her reassess her life on the course and off.  Faced with having lost her card on tour, Annie had to "Monday qualify" for LPGA events, eventually resulting in her first LPGA win (2018 ShopRite LPGA Classic) and representing her country at the Solheim Cup (2019 Gleneagles).

I've heard her say she had her thyroid removed, didn't know it was a cancer. I'll give this a listen. Thanks for posting.
