Help with a fake scotty

hey guys. looking for some opinions on whether this scotty is fake or not. let me know what you think and how much it might be worth .

That’s a tough one.  My gut says real but really been abused.  If it’s fake then Cameron needs to hire the guy who laid  that stack of dimes on the hosel.  That guy wasn’t playing around.

haha interesting. asked a couple guys and they all leaned towards fake. They said the headcover is for sure fake too which they think means the putter is fake too.

This is tricky. This head style was faked, very well and very convincingly, in right handed models. But to my knowledge few or zero left handed fakes have surfaced, of all Cameron models. To my understanding, making a lefty putter isn't as easy as simply inversing a righty CAD drawing, but I have no working knowledge on the topic, let alone one with a weld neck, and a good clean weld neck at that, and center shafted. If you're going to fake a lefty putter, why something with such a narrow market in a center shafted mallet? I'd think for sure if lefty fakes were made you'd see far more of them than just the one, and a center shaft at that.

 

That said there are a few things that pop up as red flags for me. The main being the FB+ engraving on the sole. It does not match up with similar known authentic putters, the engraving is more thin, the font slightly different and the "+" smaller and skinnier. I don't love the face engraving, but there are others out there similar enough to perhaps pass.

 

This is one I'd likely stay away from. It's possible it's legit and made for a tour player or a VIP or something, but unless you can get some answers on someone it was made for or other kind of provenance on it there are just too many red flags on it right now for me, and too many other good aftermarket players in the game that could do the cut and weld work to make it as is right now.

Maybe pull the weights and post top and bottom pics here. Somebody here San say for sure on weights I believe.  If the weights are fake. I’d lean toward the whole thing.   But like said above. For this to be a lefty fake. It would need to be done by a pro In the aftermarket.  And they exist.

Tough one, you can see the milling marks on the black sole plate insert thing... and as mentioned the weld is pretty solid. A clear picture of the cavity would help for sure to look for milling marks.. it has the right sort of "color" and look to the metal like its been tumbled or something like that. I think the black paintfil has been re done and that may make the FB and tour only letting look less crisp, but could just be the paint making it look that way. 

 

The face milling seems to go right to the topline, so I'd expect more of a "champfer" to be separating the face milling from the top line... but could be the photo.

True, but I will say it was priced accordingly. the guy was not hiding it either. I genuinely believe he didnt know if it was legit or not.

 

Also, the listing was from sideline swap so no worries about it being a member here.

NP I would never buy a REAL scotty!  Too pricey for what one gets IMO!  BTW I have never seen a lefty fake of anything.  Great reason to stand on the right side of the ball!

The milling and the plus on the back look off. There are plenty of this fake putter on Google images with same fake headcover and the putter head was shrink wrapped. They are getting better and better at this

Looks like a custom 1 off made for someone. I dont see anything about the head that screams fake to me.
