Recommended Posts

According to the handicap chart; the four par 3 holes will provide the biggest challenges:

#4                         167 yards

#7                          186 yards

#15                        206 yards

#17                        159 yards

#15 is the hardest hole of the course.

Pick this week is Ally Ewing.  She's been on a good run and has to be gaining confidence with each high finish.  She's going to win again soon, why not this week and why not a major.

The heart wants So Yeon Ryu.  A win would purge so many demons.

Dark horse is Lauren Stephenson, who has been really close to putting it together for all four rounds lately.

Ally is also within striking distance of being an Olympian if she has a really good finish this week.   Extra benefit, but she says while it would be fantastic to represent her country at the Olympics, she wants to say focused on this event.

The course is wet, wide fairways, minimal rough, supposedly a 2nd shot course.

JYK should be a fav based on the above...but I'm still not feeling it for her.

I can't predict a winner...but will say top 10's for JYK, Inbee and Hannah Green.

I want to pick Lydia ( a fav of mine) in my top 5...but again her driver will let her down...costing her 4-6 shots which will be critical for a win and top 10.

Surprisingly, Sagarin has So Yeon at #1...I'm shocked....just edging out Inbee...she might be a top 10 after 54...but I think SYR fades on Sun.

I was gonna pick Patty as a top 10....but Sagarin has her at 50...so I'll exclude her.

Gotta say that the coverage is appalling - no variety of players followed, just focussed on Lexi, Nelly and Jen Kupcho no matter where they are on the leaderboard (not just this event). Far too frequent breaks/ads.  I guess it shows the lack of coverage $, just a reality I suppose.

Also, why do they rarely show the carry distance on In-Bee Park's drives, I wonder?

Rant over - not a hater of women's golf, watch most of the tournaments, am a fan of Ally Ewing (love her swing and attitude), Sung-Hyun Park (what the hell has happened to her?) and Leona Maguire (she will be a big winner over the coming years).

I'm not sure why anyone would putt with a glove on.  (Lexi Thompson)

The GOAT use to putt with a glove on.

FWIW.....when I was younger I felt as if I couldn't get power w/o wearing a glove.

Then in 1995....I started to stop wearing a glove to get more feeling in my grip and got tired of buying gloves.

I do have a glove that I rarely use...many times it's in the car trunk...now it feels so weird to wear a glove.

I've read one pro who putted with a glove on stating why would you take it off when you have built up a feel for shots whilst wearing it?

Most would say that they wear a glove to prevent slipping on full shots.  Not to improve feel.  In any precision application, a glove over your hand will reduce feel and touch

My crystal balling on the next golf equipment trend....player's bagging two of some key items:

Two drivers: short and long (already happening eg Phil)

Two putters: one for short putts (say a mechanical stroke eg armlock) and one for longer putts (where you need more feel and yips etc really not an issue).

Two gloves: one for shots into greens, one for putting.

OEM's, I'm available for consultation for an exorbitant fee (or equipment in kind).

That's rather generous for Brooke.  She is just in a bit of a different spot right now.  But, she does seem to like this event so who knows, it could be a great "bounce back" week for her.  I would also keep an eye out for Jennifer Kupcho this week too.  She may surprise as well as Hannah Green.

Yes. I wonder what’s up with Brooke. Every IMO looks a bit different. She has added muscle I know that. Didn’t have her regular on her bag lately. Visa problem with sis. I don’t think she’s played as much actually.

I chuckled that you added the putting glove as a likely trend.  That won't be happening.  😛

I'm always entertained by how outwardly happy Lexi is, when she hits a good shot

What's worse is see Lexi smile after she left her downhill putt short on her 72nd hole at the USWO...she need to make it to get into a playoff...duh.

This is kinda the same nonsense ......Ariya smiling before pulling the trigger on a shot or putt.

Yeah, that is too much when it's 'forced'.  When the timing is right and it's genuine (after a good shot), I think it's good for the game.

Yeah, I was only mucking around with that one🙂

If it happens though, you saw it first here....

Jesus Mozo is still on Yealimi's bag....we saw them together at the Meijer...which Mi Hyang Lee didn't play.

So was Jesus the scapegoat for MHL's 2 trunk slams at the USWO and Mediheal.

MHL use to go through quite a few loops.... but Jesus was on her bag for quite a while.

Colin Cann didn't last long on Noh's bag in the past.

Is that Belen Mozo's brother?

The greens are receptive....too bad the course is playing wet.

I really like the look of the course...and from early scores...MANY pro are GAG CHOKING.....great.....it's a major.

The PGA of America has done a great job getting the women playing on better courses.

KPMG has also done a great job putting more resources into this event.

Hopefully the new commish takes away the "major' status away from the Evian.
