I have never given fang style putters much thought. In fact, I completely ignored them and always gravitated toward high MOI mallets. Mistake made and lesson learned. 
 

Now I have three fang style putters, and it’s by far my favorite putter shape. They are so easy to align, and in my opinion is the perfect marriage between a blade and mallet. The fang provides precision aim similar to a blade, with ample MOI of a mallet all without being bloated.
 

Below is my take on the models I have. Please share your thoughts on why you like/dislike the fangs you’ve tried. What are your favorite models?
 

Taylormade Spider S: Skipping the Spider tech talk since everyone knows about that, there are two things I like about this putter. First, the white sight section helps pull my eyes to the front of the putter and focuses my attention on the ball, not my stroke. Second, the connecting bar in the back not only makes this the highest MOI putter in the Spider family, but also transforms the sound beautifully. The non-connected SR model produces a tuning fork “tink” while the S produces a solid “tock.”

 

PXG One & Done: This is the easiest putter to aim putter I have ever tried. Period. While at first glance one might think there’s way too much going on, the putting experience is completely different. Somehow all of the alignment elements blend and simultaneously disappear almost like an optical illusion. The result of whatever voodoo is baked into the putter is confidence. Get your hands on one and you’ll literally see what I mean. The sound and feel is exactly what you expect from a tour level milled putter. 
 

Axis 1 Rose: I realize the putter tech here is often dismissed. However, this is my number one. The alignment of the putter is fantastic, and with the COG perfectly aligned with the center of the face the feel is unlike other putters I’ve used in the past. The putter produces a feeling similar to a forged blade center strike. It’s neither soft nor hard, just pure. To be fair the Axis 1 is more a cousin to the fang family as the wings are actually hollow and provide no structural support. However, the wings do incorporate the benefit of fang alignment and make the putter that much easier to use. Last note, folks typically cringe at the hosel. I’d encourage anyone who’s concerned to roll a few putts. After 5-10 putts, especially makes, you don’t even notice the heel anymore. I love this putter.

I think a fang is one of the few mallet shapes I do like or would use, I'm a blade users mainly cause I aim straight and square lines the best. So like the Piretti Savona 2 would be a perfect fang for me or something similar.

All of a sudden I'm a fang fanatic.  I picked up the PING 2021 Tyne 4 and it's outstanding.  I agree with you OP on the benefits of the fanged putter;  A little smaller head shape, awesome alignment (I don't normally get on well with a long straight line behind the ball, it looks curved, but the two lines made by the fangs work great for me) and high MOI.  The face and fang lines make a nice T shape that is easy to line up and I have way more confidence in my start line which has made for a LOT more made putts - and most importantly many fewer 3-putts.

 

On a side note I won one of the original Axis-1 putters from a GolfWRX giveaway and I 100% believe in the balance tech.  I like how yours is all black, I wasn't aware that was an option.

My favourite is the odyssey 7s style and for 1.5 seasons the Toulon Las Vegas H7 has been in the bag. I’m pretty sure I would have similar results with your 3 putters. 
 

Question....did you pick Cactus Jack after the movie The Villian where Kirk Douglas played Cactus Jack Slade and Arnold Schwarzenegger was the sheriff with a 7 shot 6shooter? Lol. Love that movie.

This morning I shot my best round of the season beating my handicap by four strokes. The strength of my game is driving, however I didn't have it today. As such, I had to lean hard on the Axis 1, and she came through big time today. Between the combination of fantastic fang alignment and a torque free stroke the putter really inspires confidence. 

 

On a separate note. If you're on the fence about trying a Stability Shaft, or something similar, I strongly encourage you to give one a shot. For my game, both direction and distance control have unquestionably improved. Something about the Stability Tour model just works for me, and might work for you too.

I do find the #7 or fang style putters easy to frame the ball and line up.

 

I'm a fan of the style.

I never looked at a fang putter this way until you mentioned it, now it makes perfect sense to me why they’re the only mallets I can play. You did cost me $400 though because I picked up a Phantom X 5.5 to round out the rotation.

With the price of PXG putters being “reasonable”, free shipping, and many customization options….I decided to order the Bat Attack Battle Ready.  33.5”, 2* loft 68* lie, slim sink fit grip. Same specs as my gamer for 3 seasons, Toulon LV H7.  This will bring my fang total to 4, all with same length , loft and lie….but with different hosels and weights.
