I finally had a chance to hit the MP-64s with the PGI shafts.  I'll be comparing it to what I recall from years of playing the MP-64s with DG S400s.  What's the most noticeable change?  I'm pain free.  I've been dealing with tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) on the left for 6 to 12 months.  It's not bad, but I definitely feel sore after a driving range session off the mats.  It's been manageable with massage and Theraband exercises to strengthen the forearm, but the best thing about the range session was the lack of left elbow pain.  This is probably the case with other graphite iron shafts, but it's the best thing about the PGIs.  I really don't see myself going back to steel because of this reason.  I'm guessing the primary reason for being pain-free is the vibration dampening.  Graphite reduces vibration better than steel.  This may lead one to think there is lack of feel, but I did not find this to be true.  I can still feel mishits.  Solid shots are rewarded with the typical Mizuno feel that I remember with steel shafts.

I agree with the others testers that the PGIs produce a high ball flight.  Ball flight is subjectively higher than the DG S400s.  It doesn't balloon, but it's higher.  I'm not the best at flighting a lower trajectory, but it was more difficult compared to the S400s.  The range I use typically has 5 to 10 mph headwind.  I found distance to be about the same, but I've only had one range session.  Perhaps the higher trajectory was punished so the overall distance was no different.

The 100 gram PGIs are slightly stiffer than the DG S400s.  I did not have any difficulty adjusting to the PGIs.  It is very smooth and reminds of an older True Temper product - the Black Gold shafts.  The Black Gold shafts were True Temper's answer to Project X before the two companies merged.  The Black Gold shafts were the smoothest feeling shafts that I've hit and the PGIs are very similar.

I'll report back after more range sessions and taking them on the course.  Overall, I'm very happy with the performance of the PGIs.

Have a set of Black Golds in an old set of Adams Idea Pro Forged. Excellent combo. Could still play them. Nice comparison to the PGI. If the PGI’s are like that, I’ll love them.

To me the KBS, Accra, PX Catalyst and Fuji shafts all feel better than the MMT, which I have only tried in weights below 100g, but to me it was kind of lifeless. Guys on wrx rave about the MMT, but on the LPGA Tour at least, KBS is far more popular.

Got a chance to hit the Cobra variant 75R in a 4i (T100) .....playing overlength by 1/4" and swingweight is D3...... what would be the correct shaft to correlate in kbs speak? 80 or 90 and any tipping ? I'm around low 90s with driver and 152 carry with 7i that has Modus 105R in it.....TIA

Also curious as to the X flex cobra offer in PGI for the irons. Tempted to go for these in a set of forged Tec but not sure if the X flex they offer is going to be stable enough

152  carry with a 7  indicates around 80mph?

For me  KBS  TGI  70 straight in ,    PGI  80  even soft stepped

Funny because too light of a weight messes with tempo but definitely gravitating towards lighter ......this is the beginning I'm guessing 🤔

the   TGis  feel light as they  seem low torque and more "one piece"  than the  PGI  s

I had a trial   PGi  80 which i soft stepped  and liked it

swing speed close to yours

My driver swing speed is 105 and my MP 64 7i carries 163.  I haven't noticed much difference in carry yardage with the PGI 100 vs the DG S400.

On the first page of this thread, I attached the flex and trimming instructions per KBS.  Also the golfworks website and swing speed recommendations.  Hope this helps.

According to the golfworks website, it recommends the 100g for 6 iron swing speeds above 85 mph.

I just got a PGI 100 built up in a P790 UDI. Was able to make it 39.25" (the stock steel length vs the graphite which is 40") at D3 without any tip weights which is nice. Used a 3i shaft so it is hard stepped and playing like an s+ according to the guys at the KBS shop in Carlsbad. My 6i sits around 93-94mph and I have played $ Taper 130 and 120 in my last two sets; my sweet spot would probably be the $ Taper 125 or the 120s hard-stepped FWIW.

Only one range session with it so far and no monitor data yet, but I really like the feel and ball flight which is still pretty low but not as low as most of the other options in that weight class.

I finally got to hit the PGI shaft in my 4 utility iron.  Usually play the MMT 105TX but purchased a Titleist U510 that had the PGI in it.  Spun more than I’m used to and a bit shorter due to the spin but man oh man it was straight!

Totally agree! They go high and straight but dont float in the air. Just a great ball flight with them. Did you hit the 100 gram shaft?
