I think the pga show is a deal on life support. I think it will be phased out completely soon as each big brand does their own thing.

Surprised it’s made it this long.

Big shows and conferences are being phased out in all industries

…plus with supply issues attendees won’t be getting free stuff anymore so no one will want to attend

Agree with the first part.

Bit the 2nd part isn’t a factor at all?  Have you been to a PGA show?  There is very little anything feee be giving out that is of value.  Some sample balls here and there.  But that is hardly worth the time and cost to attend.

Most went for the first hand look and trial of new stuff and a chance to spend time with the OEM staff and industry staff.

Last time I went was 2019. There was TONS of free stuff and it was like a game for many of the attendees to go and get all the free stuff.

The line for the free adidas shoes was always a mile long. People had totes full of ball markers, hats, t-shirts, golf pride and lamkin grips, 2-packs of balls, headcovers, towels and plenty of other things.

Ok. If all that made your trip worthwhile, great.  I was there more to interviews and demo the new stuff.

Interested in Roll Call

I definitely passed on this year, with the state of things in FL and most every Major OEM not going.

But I want to hear from those that do go.

Is anyone there yet for some golf ahead of time!

What are your plans for the week?

Sounds like it is going to be a super boring show this year.

I definitely agree. I understand some will go for the continuing education credits for their PGA.   But beyond that, I can’t imagine getting much of anything from the exhibits.

Is anyone else concerned about the potential drawbacks with all conventions and shows going away completely? Speaking on behalf of myself and others i know in various industries who've been affected, those types of work travel events are what makes any job within retail/marketing/sourcing truly exciting and something to look forward to as a departure from the norm. Working in a home office without any interaction or changes of scenery for 18 months during this pandemic is not good for anyone's health. Yes, we've all seen the bottom line savings not exhibiting has but we've also seen the toll it's taken on the mass volatility in the workforce. Excel spreadsheets and extra analysis will never duplicate the experience of touching/viewing product live and being able to see other people's reactions to it and reasons why they choose x over y, etc...I think there has to be a happy medium where something like the PGA Show or any other one for that matter can exist in some form in the future whether that be opening it up to the public and not just buyers/media or finding better ways to quantify ROI whether that's social media engagements or something else and not just hard purchase orders or badge scans.

Good thoughts Isaac.  I am in the camp that going one year virtual snd not attending at all a 2nd year could easily sway some OEM from attending agsin.   Many of them Cobra, TaylorMade and Titleist had media and other buyers out to CA to showcase their lines in their controlled atmosphere. Even if they subsidized the travel expense for a lot of these people they still saved huge compared to all the costs involved with exhibiting.   It could become the new norm.

i agree with you on the need for a personal touch and reach.  You can only get some of that through a zoom.

The thought of opening a day to the general public has been widely snd rightfully shot down in the past.  But they might be something it would take to get an OEM swayed in that manor

I will be very interested to follow the coverage of it this year to see how it compares to my last year of attending in 2019.

Is Wrx even there, I haven't seen any coverage yet. I saw someone on twitter saying the demo day was really bad. I would like to see some pics and see for myself.

There is no point in going, its dead and a waste of money. All the companies worth seeing would come to them anyways.
