Current offering I doubt it. But I would venture the MP-33 felt better. My MP-4 are good, but not as good as the 33.

Your clubs look great, who did you get to refinish them? I have a worn set of MP-33 I could get done.

I wore out 3 sets of the MP33's and now have MP4's in my bag for about 5 years.

Irons and especially long irons are the best part of my game.  I cannot distinguish a difference in feels between the two.  Both are superb.

I wore out two sets of MP-33, and still have my 3rd in storage. Bought the MP-4 this year so my familiarity could be skewed. Maybe higher expectations coupled with a now less than stellar swing. But I do like the MP-4.

Personally I enjoyed the mp32's more than the mp33's and mp30's but I think the shafts installed played a key part.  I've kept the set of mp32's since acquiring them about 10 years ago (while moving on from the others).  Love them but they are my backup set now due to needing a little lighter/more forgiving option, for which I went with some mp64's with ctapers.  Haven't been iron shopping since.  Very happy.

I will add an important comment for those of you considering picking up a set of mp32's...if you can't hit the sweet spot 9 out of 10 times, you are better off getting something more forgiving.  You'll lose 20-30 yards on mishits.

Ah, MP-32s are the Elizabeth Hurley of irons!  Still so very sexy after all of these years..

Have a bubble wrapped set of the 32s in the garage w/the true OG Exsar Blues and Sharpo grips!

Okay...you can't post something like that without some pics!

Agreed - Elizabeth Hurley of irons!

I'm still gaming the MP-32s but I am wondering if I should pay to get them reshafted or buy new irons all together.

The ZX-7s have really caught my eye but at the same time, when you hit the sweet spot of the MP-32s, it's honestly something else and it's amazing an iron this old can still hold up to today's standards (given the lofts are a bit weaker, but I don't need to hit my 7iron 190+).

I reshafted my MP-54/MP-4 Combo set with Modus3 Tour120, swing weighted them to D2, and they played like whole new clubs. And like yourself, I have no interest in a 190 yard 7 iron.

I would suggest this is a very viable option, especially with older clubs.

I was under the impression that the 32s where forgiving for blade.

Wow, the refinish job looks great. Long time Mizuno iron user, started with the Tzoid Pro's and currently on MP64's. Always loved the simple appearance of the MP-32's. Excellent feel as you stated, only issue I had with them was the 'appearance' of the pitching wedge...the shaping was a bit strange (rounded). Otherwise, terrific set of irons.

That’s exactly my issue with them. Love the way they play and feel, but the rounded profile is not my thing. They also have a bit of a gooseneck look in the p-7 that I’m not fond of.

I have hit dozens of forged blades over the years.  I learned to play on my fathers old Macgregor late 60's irons.  My first full set I bought were Titleist Tour Models in 1982.  I had the 2-W and the Driver, 3 and 4 woods.  I don't think anybody's blade forgings are much better or softer from brand to brand (including Muria).

I gave up on playing blades a long time ago.  I don't find a well hit cast club objectionable.  I also really like shooting under par with my shovels and taking money off my competition.

Another thing, the bag and face damage is horrible on a forged blade and I am fanatic about cleaning.  I could not look down at that and keep from throwing up before I hit it, lol.

  • 1 year later...

I love my MP32 irons but I've had a set of the new TaylorMade p7MB blades in the "cart" for a few weeks now and I'm trying to talk myself out of hitting "checkout". Anybody playing the new TM p7MB have any experience with the MP32s that can give me any comparison advice? I don't live close to any testing facility and I'm a lefty so I doubt they'd be in stock if I did.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
