Which Launch Monitor Do I Want?

Recommended Posts

I've been shopping around for quite sometime and have a list of requirements. I'm undecided on which direction to go.

Requirements:

No stickers on ball or club

Ease of use indoor and out (will get used on the range and on the course)

Will run GSPro

Accurate

Under $10k.

Initial thoughts were GC3, but don't want to mess with stickers on the club face and stuff. What are your thoughts?

  • Titleist TSR2 9* AD-VF 6x
  • Titleist TSR2 15* Ventus Red 7x
  • Titleist T200 3-5 Modus 105T X
  • Titleist 620MB 6-9  Modus 105T X
  • Titleist Vokey- Sm9 Raw 46*/10 50*/12 54*/12  58*/08 DG TI 400
  • Scotty Cameron Monoblock 6.5

All Flightscope units use ball stickers for indoor.

BLP/GC3 uses stickers for clubhead data.

EyeXO barely makes the budget but is indoor use only.

Skytrak is iffy outdoors.

Full Swing Kit might do it but AFAIK isn't compatible with GS Pro yet.

R10 isn't terribly accurate indoors.

You're looking for a unicorn if you can't flex on any selection criteria.

@hammersia During the winter it will be solely used for sim in my garage. More than enough room for most of the units, however when weather is decent I'll be outdoors as the house I am building is on a course and I will be playing several times a week.

I 100% do not want an indoor only unit like uneekor products.

@Bubbtubbs I agree, but don't feel like its too much to ask with todays technologies at that price point. I'm very surprised there isn't something on the market that fits this criteria other than maybe the FSK, which is iffy on accuracy. I think it fits the bill for all other criteria other than GSPro. Full Swings sim software is supposed to be rolled out for the Kit soon and subscription price is comparable to BLP. Don't know much other than that.

Decisions... decisions.. decisions.

You could always wait until the Eye Mini drops in Q3/Q4, though that's a long wait and might still be delayed.

I need to look into that. It looked cool but don't know any specifics.

I think for what your initial criteria is I think the Rapsodo or the Mevo would be the choice, but I’m not sure what they measure or how accurate.  I was researching this and although I’m not pulling the trigger anytime soon, I would deal with the stickers for the BLM/GC3.  I like the Uneeker options best if solely indoors.

Driver - Testing in Progress

7W - Taylormade Ti Bubble II

4-5 Hybrids - Cleveland Halo XL (21*, 24*)

7i - GW - Titleist T200 7-GW

GW - Taylormade MG3 52*

SW - Sub70 JB Forged 56*

LW - Sub70 JB Forged 62*

Putter - Sled 01 (for thr moment)

Ball - Srixon Q Star

Mevo's accuracy is meh at best. Have one currently and it requires accurate setup. Accuracy when hitting 2ir, 3w and driver is suspect. When spin number picks up its fine, but lots of misreads.

I'm thinking GC3 might be the answer and just deal with stickers on some clubs for the sim at the house. Outdoors is anything need on the club face for club data?

I believe Foresight's club tracking model always uses the fiducial stickers.

Edit: They're not required for any ball data though.

You’ve said a few times club stickers for sim golf -

Thats really two different things. Club stickers are to get you the best possible club data (although BLP/GC3 won’t do a few things like face to path), sim golf is just concerned with ball tracking, nothing else.

Data is number 1 for me, however in the winter it will go to a sim setup for Sunday Beer League with the boys.

Wait til fall and grab the uneekor eye mini. Closest thing you’ll get to what you’re looking for besides the gc quad which is over your budget

I’ve seen parameters and that it’s an optical unit, which I like, but haven’t seen price point, subscription (if any) or any details. I’ll definitely be looking for them. My house will be done around fall and I’ll be purchasing around then. Hopefully it fits the bill.

I really like the user interface of the FSK. Really wish they’d fix the issues and stuff.

I’m still hoping that the RCT ball (when officially recognized by Mevo +) will improve limited flight spin reads for driver. Could significantly improve carry accuracy if the spin reads were better indoors.

I think the normal Uneekor overhead stuff looks really good for club data / club slo mo video, but I’d have to suspect the mini will be similar to the BLP and require stickers or similar, due to its positioning.

The GC3 is the best on the market if you want ease of your indoor and out, accuracy, and under 10k. It's a single sticker on each club, not a big deal at all. You don't need the sticker if you just want ball data (ie simulator play).

Passing on the best product due to the "inconvenience" of placing a single sticker is silly

Let me know if you're interested in a FULLSWING monitor. I have one for sale, it's like new and only been used once. They're really good.

Selling for a friend because he got a Trackman due to the lack of normalization settings on the FS. But FS just introduced a normalized update that can be downloaded.

My lord, get the GC3/BLP

Stickers are NOT an issue. It’s a sticker!

So you hit a 100 balls at the range, do you sit there for 10 minutes putting stickers on first? Serious question.

Or is the sticker only on clubs?

Stickers are on the club for the GC3. No stickers on balls ever with camera units like GC3. Indoors radar units need stickers on balls - or use Titleist RCT balls. Outdoors no stickers on ball or club for radar units.

One sticker on the club only for getting club data.

You can hit the ball with no club sticker and get all the of the ball metrics, though I think spin axis is locked without a sub.
