Player dependent but it will kick it up a little

What’s a little? Everyone is so vague….since it’s player dependent. Is it possible it will lower it. I know what you’re gonna say. That’s why you should get fit. And I agree. But saying it’s gonna do something then say it’s player dependent seems wonky to myself….thanks for your time….

Same. I like a little forgiveness. If there was a TCB that was designed for a single digit handicapper instead of a tour pro I'd give them a real hard look. I'm sure the feel is great.

They are not as hard to hit as you perceive them to be. I go between a 4-6 hc and I don’t swing hard. What I’ve noticed is how incredibly precise they are l. Miss hits are not that punishing.

15 handicaps on the internet are the only ones who complain about 1mm offset differences, thats why. Tour pros dont care as long as its reasonable and performs.

That’s funny.  And I had an OEM  R&D giy make a pretty similar comment to me 😬

So so true.  Go down the range at a tour event and you'll see just about every offset you could imagine.  It's all player dependent.  What they like to look at, what performs for them, etc.  Offset and offset progression isn't something that most guys totally stress over.

Yeah and it wasn’t just limited to offset.  He deals with a lot of the orders that come through from all 3 major forum contest and testing members.  And the spec sheets are hilarious compared to some of the build sheets they see from the tour.   He said “you internet guys sure put a lot of thought and effort into your spec requests.  More than we see from the four a lot of times” 😬

The tour reps I've spoken to say guys are more worried about the grip "feeling" right than they are most of the specs of the clubs.  And once they get a grip they like the "feel" of, they sometimes are hesitant to change it.  I know Scheffler for example is very much like that.

Makes total sense.  The reps can tell them what the specs are doing for them.  But they can’t tell them what feels good to them.

Are you serious bruh? Mark knows more about Modus shafts than everyone else combined. You said you thought it’s like the 115. Would like who knows to confirm/ add context.

Well, the Modus 115 in stiff is 118.5 grams and 1.6* torque.  Only 1 gram difference between all 3 flexes and .1 degree of torque difference.  And to clear things up, the LSL3 was the prototype for the Modus 115.  There were 3 different protos, one just LSL, LSL2 (stepless), and this one LSL3.  The LSL was the one that weighed a bit less as stated above.

I have read Mark's knowledge regarding Nippon shafts.  I am sure he would agree with this.

I would think a report directly from the tour (Johnny Wunder/Andrew Turskey) would have every bit as much validity is anything that Mr. Heard could add

Appreciate the shoutouts. LSL3 as far as I know is just the 115 proto code. Often the tour van just uses the shafts they have which are often the prototype paint over the retail versions. At some point they'll run out of protos and have the stock sets.

I am not as up to speed on the latest protos. Once I moved to Florida I fell out of contact with the Nippon folks. I could message them but prefer to only bug them if I find something myself that I don't know about and want more info. They're always kind to reply and let me know whats up. So for anything brand spanking new, anyone with a current tour connection will have more detail.

LSL/LSL2 for me was a cool shaft. I hit the my first LSL back in 2015, owned a set finally in 2020. To me, they play really well for a smoother swinger which makes sense if they are softer handle. Softer than I realized. The midsection is firm which really decreases kick for me which knocked spin off. Its the steel version of a GD M9003. It ended up not working for my game, I like to feel a little more load/release in the mid-section of the shaft. More like Toru125/ORA than the 115/LSL.

X Forged? Little longer blade length, tad more offset and similar construction.

Point is YES most of minutia we gear heads notice, only a fraction of the TOUR guys actually do. They react to a little to offset and turf interaction. Predominantly, its spin/launch and start line.

The part that surprises me is the shaft choice and flex... figured he'd might be in a heavier/stiffer choice. Always interesting to see setups that aren't always DGX100.

Yeah Scheffler definitely has some messed up looking grips, haha. I can relate, if there is anything i'm neurotic about it's how the grips feel.
