... It is always interesting when I have someone on ignore because they are condescending and snarky and then the few times I check what they say because the replies don't make sense without knowing their context, they are still just as condescending and snarky.

i mean it’s from a kilt company, so i think they know what they’re talking about. 

 

and the same stance was repeated on every site i looked at, so neither bizarre nor faulty. the official position seems to be that every kilt is a skirt, but not every skirt is a kilt. kinda like squares and rectangles. 

 

to your point about wrapping vs pulling on…some shirts button on and some are pulled over the head, but they’re all still shirts. 

 

if it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck…it’s a skirt!

Speaking as a kilt owner (MacKenzie Modern tartan), the reality is it's a wraparound skirt about 7 yards of material because of the pleats.  Fairly heavy and I can't realistically imagine golfing in it.

Most people pick their private country club because it's an excellent course with swimming pool and tennis courts for the rest of the family.  Some people pick their private country club based on dress code.

My only criterion was good uncrowded golf with friendly people.  Don't care about meeting "influential" social contacts or business development (last thing I need is more of that) or how people dress.  I spent my college years with people who dressed like RL or Polo models. 

 

Many years ago was playing a nice public course in Michigan as half a twosome.  Starter asked the group in front if a single could join them.  They saw he was wearing a Batman shirt and said no.  We welcomed him to join us and at the turn he said he had to get to work but thanks for letting him join.  Turns out he is the house chef and when he saw us in the dining room comp'd our entire food bill.  Karma wins in the end. 😃

That is a very snarky response. I’m a member of a private club, and I have no problem with dress codes. That being said, I have played public courses with guys wearing jeans and t shirts, and they were an absolute joy to play with. I have also played courses with strict dress codes, and played with folks that I hope to never play with again. I would much rather play with a guy that was dressed “improperly “, and was a gentleman than the other way around.

I belong to Fair Oaks Ranch CC located in texas. The members look like their on their way to Walmart or Whataburger.  They have a dress code but it’s not enforced. The golfers at public courses in San Antonio dress better.

Standards and tastes and sensibilities vary enormously across the American landscape. Most folks have cultural comfort zones they are content to live within. And there are at least some golf courses and clubs suited to nearly all of them. No reason for anyone to even pay attention to one that doesn't suit their vibe.

I could careless about the fashion, I'd just be pumped to look good in skin tight clothing
