Full disclosure, I no longer go to the pool because I am an old man.  The only old men that go to the pool are by definition "creepers" as they gawk at the young ladies walking by behind their Foster Grants.

 

Does this hold true for LPGA events?  And, if this is so, would bringing the Ms. let you avoid the label?

She's rolled out to the course with me ONE TIME. When I got back in the cart after putting out on the 4th, she was like "Are we almost done?"

That said ... I've attended a lot of miniature Ms. ae's gigs. Usually her mom is right up front recording video ... a place I prefer not be. So I felt very much like a creeper being the old guy at the back of a crowd of teenagers.

 

This did work to my advantage at the Halloween show when Ms. ae was all dolled up in her Maleficent costume. Made it easy to identify all the teenage boys who I'd need to kick the ish out of 😂

... Hope the weather his awesome! This week the LPGA should be interesting with the absolutely crazy weather predicted for the Ford Championship here in Phoenix. Semi typical day today, although cloudy and a high of 81* with 5mph winds. Then 83* tomorrow with winds picking up to 13mph. Sunny and 82* Saturday with 22mph winds. Then Sunday starts off at 8am with light rain, winds at 7mph but only 54* and might not even get to 60* by the afternoon  😱  I was gonna go Sunday but temps dropping 30* from Friday and the mid 50's with rain is indoor weather so I will watch from home.

Yeah.  Creeper or not is a rough call.  As an old, white guy you really have to be careful because you are going to be the #1 suspect.   It's tough because I doubt you ever lose your appreciation for a pretty female.   When does it get creepy is the question.  I go by the Seinfeld standard.   Get an essence of it and look away.    Something like that.

I ascribe to this.  Never seen a professional tournament.

 

If I am wearing an article of clothing, or a towel, or a ball marker, etc. and it has a club on it then I played it.  I refuse to wear/use any golf related article if I haven't played it.

 

If I could play an instrument I bet I would feel the same way about concerts.

Hahah was having this talk with Ms. ae a while back. When I switched from the old P7TW to the Titleist irons, I bought a new Titleist beanie.

 

"I got a new beanie!" 

"Why? I thought you really liked your other one?"

"The Taylormade one? Yeah. Great beanie, very comfy. Can't wear it anymore though."

It freaks me out when some old geezer I'm playing with hits on the cart girl.  Wanna say "you can't possibly imagine how much that young thing does not want to be within 100 yards of you."  A guy is half a cadaver and he's acting like he can still bring it.   That's some embarrassing isht.

I think they do it because they've got a captive audience... and they're working off an ancient script that's still running through their head... that worked once, 60 years ago.

We had the most beautiful cart girl at our course and a guy I knew was hitting on her, but he didn't think it was like that.

 

He tells me, not realizing what a dig it was, because he relayed, "She told me I reminded her of her grandfather."

Over the years I have changed.  I have played at the same course since I was under 30 and have seen so many cart girls/women that I can't remember.  When I think a guy is getting a little creepy I will say the poor girl, "When I first joined I didn't want to embarrass myself in front of the cart girl, at this age I don't want to embarrass myself in front of my new beer."  It usually gets the guy off it and generally the server is thankful for the quip.

I can't say.  So there was a young guy totally hitting on her and I asked her how she could even deal with it, it made me crazy just watching it and that is when she told me about my friend who was about 65 at the time and how she deals with the old guys.  Using that line.  It's polite, but clearly sets a parameter that grandparents are by definition not hot... not matter what the Daily Mirror tries to tell us.

 

And then I see him later that week and he was telling me how the girl told him he reminded her of her grandpa.  I don't think he even realized that was her way of saying it was a little too creepy.  Now I just tip them too much and thank them.  If anyone is going to say something inappropriate to them it's gonna be my wife, and she does but I guess it's different lady to lady.  @aenematedmet her and would probably confirm my wife has very little filter.

And she'll usually be thankful for the tip also and probably has dealt with the situation a thousand times.   Still uncomfortable, though.  For everybody who's brain is working, anyway.

I've been to over 50 Professional golf tournaments coast to coast in my time and I very much enjoy attending them.

I only saw the LPGA twice though. One event was when I lived in the California desert and attended the Diana Shore (I still call it that but now it is known as the Chevron Championship). That tournament has since moved to Carlton Woods in Houston. I followed Nancy Gulbis because I had to support my Vegas girl. The other time I ever saw pro women golfers live was when I attended the Wendy's 3 Tour Challenge tournament that was held in Las Vegas at the golf course at Lake Las Vegas. I was disappointed when that event was cancelled. I thought the battle of two players from each Tour (Champions, PGA, and the LPGA )competing with one another was a neat idea. The three TOURS all played from different tees.

 

I ended up playing Mission Hills CC a good many times when I lived out there. They had a designated set of tee boxes that were where the LPGA's Major would play from. I found the course rather difficult. I never broke 80 from the LPGA Tour's tees and I never jumped into Poppies's Pond adjacent to the 18th green. 😄

 

 

 

After 51 years at Mission Hills Country Club, the LPGA said goodbye to the Dinah Shore Tournament Course and the leap into Poppie's Pond and a roster of Hall of Fame winners.Mar 30, 2023

Brand new blooms that I spied at work today.

Asheville's Easter weekend weather is going to be dandy. ☀️

I will be swamped at work because in addition to an almost full tee sheet each day there will also be the kids Easter Egg hunt on Saturday with a lunch, and the big brunch on Sunday. I'll get through it and then on Monday when I play 18 it is going to be 80* !😮👍🏌️‍♀️

We are nowhere near 50 pro golf events but have been (and worked) at a few.  Provided security at a Senior Men's Open in Oakland Hills, Mich as I worked inside the ropes and I was an on-course marshal at a Web.com event in Raleigh just a few seasons ago. 

 

Saw the PGA Tour in Grand Blanc, Michigan and again a few times in Greensboro.  Also saw them at Turning Stone Casino in Central New York as due to flooding in Binghamton the tour needed to play a different venue on short notice.  Also, a practice round in 2016 and a practice round coming up at the Masters.

 

Been to Kingsmill in Williamsburg for a few LPGA events and went to PInehurst for the US Women's Open.  Watching the women play in person is so entertaining!  Their consistent contact, their such smooth swings, and their relative lack of brawn is impressive.  To watch someone 5' 3" and 110 pounds just pound the ball 275 is impressive.  Another bonus are the smaller crowds which are usually manageable and it's easy to be up close to the players.  I always try to encourage people to go an LPGA event.

Yes that was the course. That whole complex was fairly new back then.

 

It's a shame about that aen and also the Lake Mead situation.

In my Vegas days it was as different scene. Heck 4 of us even went in on  ownership of a 19 foot fun boat to cruise the lake a few times each month. I swear this dude who was raised in the Great Lake State remembers thinking the first time I went boating around lake Mead, where the F am I? Mars? after looking at all the grey and tan rocky shoreline with not a tree or anything healthy green in sight. 😅

 

Still smoking some weed, cranking some music, and having a cold one while bippin' along at 30 mph making waves was a good time!  Not many Betty's when asked if they wanted to go boating on the lake declined. 🚤 🙂

Recap of my 19th round of 2024.

 

I played yesterday with two members. The turf crew had spent the morning brushing the greens and running two different sizes rollers over them. They were far from perfect but playable. I was quite surprised at their condition. We tee'd off at 12:15. It hit 70* on our back 9. There were blooming trees all around and the grass was much more green compared to when I last played BFCC in late February. 

 

My shot of the day was on #3 the par 3 that plays downhill over a pond. #3 has a two tiered green back to front and the pin was in the most difficult spot, back right. There was a one club wind in the face. It was playing 118 yards. I took dead aim with my 9 iron and stuffed it to two feet. There were a few grounds crew dudes watching and they gave me props. That was my only birdie of the round. 

 

Once again I played pretty steady with no doubles or 3 putts. On that course on any given day that is for me a fine accomplishment.

Lake Mead's actually been doing pretty well the last couple years. About 35' up from 2022 lows! And I'd expect more rises with all the snowpack from up north.

... I have been to several PGA and LPGA tournaments and I have zero interest in attending another. Crowds of rude people, and yea the same kinda guy hitting on a cart girl is there thinking Allison Lee gave him a look or those that say things loudly like "You got this Nelly" before a tough chip 🙄 and of course Baba Booey 😱. Now a Practice Round can be very cool. Following a swing you love and watching them hit multiple shots in a relaxed atmosphere and of course  just sitting at the range for a few hours watching swings from Tanatavakit, Korda, Grant, Yin and several others would be a really good day.
