As a Habs fan, I concur...but in this case that means you are rooting for the Bruins which is a terribly unsavory action!  In my NHL "lower"archy, the list goes Boston, Toronto, then many others in no particular order.  I texted a Bruins fan last night and said," As much as I hate it, I must be a Leafs fan for the next week".  The truth is it might be only 4 games...

I'm picking a Carolina/Edmonton battle for the Cup!

I am a lifelong Habs fan as well, Jean Beliveau was my favourite player as a kid. I moved to Ontario when I was 13, six weeks after the Leafs last won the cup. I met my friend Chris in Grade 9 that fall and he is a diehard Leaf fan and I have razzed him for 57 years, although I did not text him last night, it would have been too cruel.

Living an hour west of Toronto, I am in the middle of Leafland and their fan base goes on and off the bandwagon like no other which makes kidding them a terrific sport even more than my hate for the Bruins.

I lived in Winnipeg for 7 years in the late 80’s until the year before Betman the idiot moved the team to Arizona. In the 7 years I went to over 150 games with my neighbour and they are my sentimental second team. I am watching their game with the Avalanche as I write this.

Growing up an hour south of Montreal it was easy to root for the Canadiens, plus my mom was a big Bruins fan so we had a little family rivalry.  Beliveau was a little before my time.  Cournoyer, Lafleur, Shutt, and the great Ken Dryden were my guys...along with Gainey, Robinson, Lapointe and Savard.  Lucky enough to see a few games (and a few concerts) at The Forum.

Also watching the Jets/Avs and enjoying seeing the Jets pour it on.  I have always enjoyed Cassie Campbell-Pascall's work on HNIC and glad to know she'll be working the playoffs.

Maybe next year for our Habs...never hurts to dream, eh @Hickory4ever?

We also had a family rivalry. The rest of my family were fans of the Bruins until Doug Mohns was traded to Chicago. He was the younger brother on my Aunt Thora and my dad hung out with him when he lived with Uncle Earl and Aunt Thora. In 1965, my dad was posted to HMCS Hochelaga in Montreal and we lived on the south shore for two years. The Chiefs Mess had tickets to the Forum and I was able to go occasionally when he got them. Doug also got us tickets one time when the Blackhawks were in town. I also went to game at the new Forum around ten years ago. The atmosphere at the Montreal Forum was electric and not artificial like modern arenas. The only other place as crazy was Madison Square Garden which I got to twice on business. Winnipeg, Calgary, and Edmonton also have great atmosphere and I have been there several times. I know Boston and Chicago are also great but have never had the chance to be there in person.

Watching Hockey Night in Canada was a staple growing up and inspired my three brothers and I to play hockey although I was the only one who played (and refereed) into adulthood. I have not laced up skates since giving up refereeing 11 years ago and donated my skates three years ago. It was hard but was the right thing to do. My knees, hips and old nicks are a reminder of great times.

... All this talk of cold weather and we hit 100*. Should be 97* tomorrow and that is nearing triple digits and taking a riding cart. Once triple digits become the norm, usually around June, I put away my remote cart and ride in the summer. I tried walking one day several years ago when it was 102* and with little to no wind I felt flushed and a little dizzy at the car after the round. Thankfully not nauseous but probably close to some minor heat stroke so I set the bar at 99* and ride when it gets above that.

I can’t give them away yet, in reference to Hickory and his skates.  I had to stop playing soccer in 2001 (those are Beckenbauers from the era), and then hockey in ‘17.

Those are a few of my old FJ Classics with leather soles in the same dustheap of history.

I bet one of those FJ Classics has a balata rolling around in it.

We're still hanging on to "spring." Stayed in the high 80s/low 90s this weekend. Seems we'll be seeing summer sooner than later this year.

I have a member-member this Sunday. Should be a great time and no better way for the new guy to keep getting to know more members.

By the weekend it should be nice, highs in mid 70s. Still cool at night, it is 31* as I type this.

The Trials were incredible. That concentration of absolute excellence, commitment, and sacrifice was something remarkable to see The fan experience not good at all, but my 14y old has no frame of reference for that so that’s a topic for another day. Here are some notes for anyone interested in the sport.

We saw Spencer Lee looking healthy and happy and having fun again for the first time in probably four years. He was dominant, and now he has to go to Istanbul to qualify the weight for Team USA before the Olympics. Crazy that he goes through the gauntlet of the trials and there is still one more critical step as others failed to qualify the weight earlier this year.

J’Den Cox called it a career, and what a career. He didn’t look right physically, lost his second match, and sat on the mat for a while before talking to the official and his coach. My son and I looked at each other and knew what was up. Cox slowly went to the center, took his shoes off, and left them there to a huge ovation. That gesture gets me every time. Cox is the hardest guy to score on I’ve ever seen, and is a bit of a Renaissance Man. He is a talented violinist and instead of coaching, I hear he plans to attend law school.

Regarding ovations, we may have seen Jordan Burroughs final senior level match. He is 35 years old and is probably done. Penn State “fans” should be ashamed of that display. Tribal and trifling. This man is the primary reason for the resurgence in US Wrestling over the last 15 years, and he was booed out of the arena and taunted. Shocking display.

Kyle Dake defended his hold on 74kg after his dad passed away one week ago. His interview. 😢😭

Kyle Snyder just made his third 😳 Olympic team. 👏🏼 He has one gold and one silver medal and could become only the fourth American wrestler to win two Olympic golds.

The US women’s program is insanely good. Kennedy Blades and Amit Elor are going to be a Problem for a long time and those two women should collect a whole bunch of hardware. Remarkable.

I had read on another site about how Burroughs was treated.  But it was a Nebraska site and I know Husker fans can be a bit over sensitive at times. I wanted to post and ask if you had attended and get your thoughts, then never got around to asking.

I would have expected better from a fan base of a program of that caliber. You’re the best, no reason to not be classy.

It was shocking and embarrassing, no two ways about it. This event was about the US National Team….not a PSU / Nebraska dual meet. This guy (JB) has been Captain America for almost 15y and that was not right. To be fair, Coach Manning isn’t one to de-escalate a situation, and he did contribute to escalating with a group of drunks not once but twice.

@Petethreeput

We are playing at a quick pace. Yay! There was not 2 groups per hole.

We are here on #16 tee box.

After last night, not a bad pick, but Colorado had a Kleenex in the net. If the Avs had decent goaltending, I think the easily win that game. They had 47 SOG.

I don’t care who comes out of the East. Just hoping my Stars get there! The gauntlet begins tonight against the defending champs. Dallas was 0-3 against them in the regular season. Yikes!

I've taken my old Muirfield persimmon to the range a couple times. Biggest challenge for me has been getting it into the air.

It’s crazy how the driver has gone from (arguably….if you carried a 1i or 2i) the toughest club to hit to (arguably) the easiest.

As an Avs fan I totally agree, goaltending is going to be our fatal flaw.

Sensing a them mshills.  All of my head covers are walmart specials.  Too much money in the bag to advertise them since they live in the back of the Prius from middle of March until November 1.

I have an old Spalding driver and I tried to hit it a few times and I feel like my swing speed is about 20 mph slower than with the huge head when you can just swing as hard as you possibly can.

I’ve never been able to get my mind OK with clubs living in the car. Then again I’m weird about it, I won’t even leave an unopened Coke in my car or a hat or sweatshirt or anything at all. Pimp’s gotta roll clean I guess. 🤣

My clubs live in my home office. I don’t want to leave them in bag storage because I like having my putter at home for the occasional drill sequence. If I kept the clubs at the club I know what would happen. Twice last year I had putter in home office and clubs in truck, went to course, hit #1 in reg, then missed birdie and par putts….putter still in home office. 😡
