I wash my clubs thoroughly every week. I have to have clean groves and also tackiness with my grips. I am finicky that way. The weekly cleaning includes taking all the ball marks off the face of my driver. I decided to not touch the face of my driver for two weeks so I could have an idea of where the majority of the shots are coming from on the face. I have been hitting a good many fairways for weeks now and I see that I am pretty close to center most times.

The way to the right and high on the toe contact spot.......Oh yeah I remember that weak high slicer drive.  😄

Again I will say that I have never played a more forgiving driver than my Paradym. My previous most forgiving driver of all time was my Ping G400. This model Callaway laughs at that driver.

^^^ I like to do the same, but I’m so anal about cleaning my clubs during play they are usually spotless at the 19th hole. Former caddie habits never go away!

Since I went to the Jumbomax grips last season I have not scrubbed them. I’m not sure how they’d hold up. All those years I played Lamkin Crosslines or Crossline Cords, they got scrubbed weekly and no grip lasted longer except a leather wrap. 🙂

It's an early tee time with some members today for old LP. I haven't played BFCC in over a month. Will there still be any home course advantage being that it's been so long? We will see. 😃

Cloudy with a chance for a passing shower or two. 62*.

Our threesome takes to the first tee at 8:30.

Lovely. So many individually minor design details there.

Especially nice since it looks like it gets driven and isn’t restored better than new and polished with a diaper.

We must have a new neighbor.  As you all know, I live out in the sticks, heck we have cows and sheep in the yard.  My neighbors place has been vacant land for 15 years or so.

This woman walking her dog bends down to pick up her dog's pile of crap in the vacant field by the road.  Maybe she saw me leaving my driveway and just thought it was the right thing to do?

That's what I was saying.  Its a field, like a legit 5 acre field where she was.  It is just caddycorner from my lot lines so I was thinking no one has ever picked up dog crap since all the yards are 1+ acres, so she must be a new neighbor because she saw me coming out of my driveway and figured she had better do it.  Or, it is exactly as you say and she was just doing the right thing, but our road has no sidewalks and there is nothing manicured about the field and there is no home in the field so she was just being a good new neighbor.  Not sure?  I think she did it because she saw me heading up the driveway and turning toward her on the way to work.

Dog dirt protocol is a big issue for me. I live in a development where everybody sits on about two acres and there are no sidewalks.  Most folks have dogs, including me.  Personally, I wouldn't mind if folks let their dogs unload on my lawn as long as it was okay for mine to return the favor.  Most people do the plastic bag thing, but I really don't see how that's necessary.  It's dog dirt.  It'll pretty much be gone next time it rains.  My old girl doesn't walk very far any more so I just take a shovel with me and pick up after her and throw it on my lawn.  I can't see putting a plastic bag full of isht into the ecosystem to last forever.

Because I can get wordy, I didn't mention it, but my neighbor used to plant corn, lettuce, etc over there until he passed away 15 years ago so now the whole thing looks like a field that hasn't been touched other to bale hay for 15 years.  It just made no sense to me.  Which is why I think she must be a new neighbor because everyone knows he died, the family took the mobile home to the dump, and the shed, etc. left on my side of the street is clearly old and no one really cares about it.  In fact, we see people over there 4 times a year.  A few times to hunt on the island and the guy who bales the hay comes once.  If I think about it I may take a couple of pics to just show why I was so confused by her commitment to poop extraction.

As we say goodbye to the month of April I am pleased to say that I got in 7 rounds this month. The 7th round was a partially wet one. A few passing showers my backside. Wrong forecast. It lightly rained for 9 holes straight. Holes 5-13. I hate wet golf. Thankfully it did stop for the last hour. I wanted to head in but was told if I did all the bets were off. I was up a good bit so I battled on.

There will be more. Recaps coming of this weeks rounds.

LP Golf Asheville

26 rounds played this year

April 2024

7 rounds on 5 different courses

high 80  low 73

76.2 average score

current index 5.4

I have been playing consistently well for over a month now. I'll take it and I hope the streak continues. The warmer weather has certainly contributed to my better scoring.

I love my new 7 wood. I hit some fantastic shots with it over the last two days.

@touch, I am pleased to report that my recovery is progressing and have now played 31 times with 18 in April. My stamina is improving at I can now walk three rounds in a row. I am still two clubs shorter than last year at this time but hope to get back at least some of the strength. My scores have been predominantly in the mid 80’s but part of that can be blamed on cold, wet and wind.

Three weeks ago I turned 70 and bought an electric push cart as a gift to myself. The seat came in on Monday and I used it on the cart for the first time yesterday. The MGI Zip x3 works very well and my old ClicGear is officially retired with over 1200 rounds on it. I will keep my Big Max Blade for road trips when space is at a premium.

World Hickory Golf Day is this Sunday and we will have over 40 players participating. There will be Plus Fours and Kilts everywhere. It is our first big event of the year.

Great to hear of your solid progress Hickory. Congrats on getting back to playing frequently. How about some photos for us of the outfits this Sunday?

Are you playing too long of a golf course? Our assistant pro Noah gives you a math equation to help you to see what tees you should be playing. This is helpful advice. I never understood the guys who think it is macho to take on more course than they are capable of handling.

Which tees do you generally use? Do you change between tees as things firm up in the summer and/or get softer in the winter?

That's a lot of tee markers for maintenance to put out every day!

I count 648 bend-overs for the maintenance guys per mowing of the tee boxes. 18 markers per tee box... pick each one up and move it to the side. When done mowing pick them up and put them back on the tee box.  All X 18 holes.
