I have the Recoils in my Sub70 irons, 7i down to SW. They are so good I’m going to replace the Cypher shafts in my PXG hybrids when I get around to it.  🙂
 

Sloppy day here. Not playing this AM, but I may go walk through the showers and mud this afternoon. I know I can walk and carry nine. The full 18 I can only attempt when my body feels good and the chilly, wet weather is not in my favor.

I would like to make 2 Derby picks if possible as Mrs. NCL would like to participate.

 

I like Mystic Dan coming out of the 3 hole.  He's got some experience with a muddy surface, and I look for a good break, settle in and then pick off horses down the stretch. 

 

Mrs. NCL likes Honor Marie as her mother's name was Marie.  Marie is also Mrs. NCL's middle name.  She is feeling the Marie mojo. 

 

Let's hope it's a safe and competitive Derby.

... So aesthelically pleasing to the eye. 🥰 But I prefer links or links style courses. My two favorite tracks back in Chicago were basically wide open with very few trees, and most holes had none. Deep heather gobbled up errant tee shots or just very think rough. There were other tree lined courses I loved to play but 75% of my rounds were played at the links style courses. 

... Obviously here in the desert most courses are links style and they just really fit my eye. My Sumer course is completely tree lined and when it gets to 110* and above, the trees provide some very much needed shade. To be fair they do not crowd most fairways that are pretty generous in the landing area's. There is something about a wide open look off the tee that allows me to swing freely with no guiding. There is still trouble as we have a rocky desert where you have trees but you just don't see it visually when teeing off. 

... All that said, I love playing with majestic Pines or old school towering Oak trees lining the fairway too. I just wouldn't want it to be my home course.

One of Dornoch's owners is this former MLB'er: Jayson Werth!  Saw an interview with him from the barn and he said it is as nerve-racking as his playing days when they get the horses to post at a big race.  It's his first Derby and he is absolutely loving the horse game.

Always mustard for LP NCL. Dijon preferred or yellow works, just not whole grain thick mustard. I'd only enjoy that variety on a fresh baked pretzel.

Tis the southern choice for sure and it is a quality product. I myself buy Hellman's as I've enjoyed it since I was a kid. 

Our kitchen uses some commercial brand of mayo that comes in very large plastic jars. 

 

One thing was lacking though.....I needed a few pickles. 🙂

Love my desert golf too but there's one thing I do miss.

 

Back in the day; we'd look at the top of the tall pine trees to judge the wind. Totally noticed it during my day at Shadow Creek which might as well been plucked outta the ground in Pinehurst and dropped here in North Vegas. My neighbor has two REALLY tall ... something or other trees in his backyard and I can step out on my patio and see what I mean. Pretty windy today and if I look at the lower branches; they're not doing much - look at the top? They're whipping around pretty good. 

 

Just helps judge what the wind's actually doing up in the air. We ain't playing croquet out here! Haha 

 

I think the tallest thing at Paiute is some old growth Joshua Trees 😂

Sierra Leone’s majority owner is a fellow Clemson Man but I’ve been beaten to the punch there. 
 

Just Steel suits my current location pretty well, but I don’t follow the NFL.

... I have to assume the wind is pretty consistent out in the open like that. Ours tends to swirl coming off the mountain and the terrain and trees tend to shelter a hole or expose it. It isn't out off the question to have one hole into the wind and the next in the opposite direction also play into the wind. Or downwind. 🤪 Took me awhile to get used to that.
