My experience is each time they cut me the surgeon took away an activity from me.  Golf is all I have left.

I will have to consider options, I really don’t want to add to my collection of surgeries.  My doctor feels an injection would probably help, but I always take the position of you aren’t injecting me until I know what the problem is.  My PT even wrote a note to insurance saying without you approving the MRI I can’t effectively treat not knowing exact issue. Got my appointment scheduled for the 10th.

Keeping Stats and why they are important.

As we start a new year and set new goals, we should also think about our goals for golf. Tracking and dialing in to a specific goal is going to help you get a lot better, a lot faster. Without tracking your progress or your weaknesses it is impossible to know what you need to work on to improve.

 

Statistics show that an average golfer has 40 putts per round, will hit 39% of the fairways, and hits 5.1 greens in regulation. Instead of heading to the range each time you practice, maybe once you look at your stats you determine you're not scoring better because of putts and need to practice on the putting green vs the range.

 

What should you track? 

Total score

Number of fairways hit

Total number of greens in regulation

Up and down %

Total putts

 

Lets dive into why we need to keep the stats above. Tracking your total score,we should all have the GHIN app where we post our total score. Remember to play in tournaments you must have a valid handicap, but it also helps to track which way your handicap is trending. Secondly, is tracking the number of fairways hit. We all know the rough at Biltmore Forest is penalizing. If you are constantly missing fairways this could be why your are not getting to the green in regulation. The third stat is the number of greens hit in regulation. If you are constantly missing greens and having to rely on your chipping ,that is going to putt stress on your short game when in reality you need to work on your 150 yard shots. When trying to scramble and get up and down on a hole keep the percentage of how many times you are able to chip and one putt. Lastly, if you don't keep any other stat, I would at least keep up with how many putts per round you have. This number may surprise you !

Ashley played golf at Western Carolina U.  She and I have played a few times. She seems to always find a way to beat me by 1-3 shots.  lol   The past Lady Catamount  is a better putter than LP.

 

I track all of those numbers except save %

Have you ever tried a regular routine of a inversion table?

I am all over the place regarding music that I love. If you were to venture into the 60's/ 70's, and 80's music appreciation threads near here you would see that I am all about music from those decades but definitely no specific genre. I got real heavy into southern rock though in the late 70's and into the 80's. Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet were my favorites. So that was my favorite country/rock music. ⭐

Got ya. I relish the memories I made in my 16 years out west. To me it's the best section of the country to live in. I yearn for a return.

I f I had to listen to just one type? Big Band / Jazz. Duke E. is loved. 

 

Funk / R&B is #2, James Brown is revered.

 

R&R is #3. I love every genre. Go from Abba to Metallica to Beck & Jeff Beck.

Country is growing on me. Always liked Cash. Folsom was my 1st album. Loved the Tammy & George drama doc. Thought the Ken Burns series on country was epic.

 

The 20th century was just amazing musically. Might be one of our greatest gifts to humanity. Really special to me at least.

I didn't play it.  It was so expensive and I wanted to play the bucket lister twice since I knew I would play it better the second time.  Spoiler alert... I didn't.  I shot a 78, 83

I am an 80's kid with older siblings, so I am a mishmash of genres, but all rooted in RnR.  My memory proves not only did I have an ill-spent youth, but a glorious youth as well.

 

By the end of my freshman year in high school I had seen Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush open up for Kansas (Point of Know Return tour) in fifth grade.  The Kinks, Jefferson Starship, Grateful Dead, and the Police (Bow Wow Wow opened for them).

By the end of college I had seen R.E.M (x2), Red Hot Chili Peppers (x2), Grateful Dead (x2), Jethro Tull (x2), Warren Zevon, Television, The Replacements, The Ramones, Phish (played at frat parties so no idea how many times), Beach Boys (I think), the Monkees, Phil Collins, and who knows who else, but when I see their names I remember them.  Oh yeah, Billy Idol, Loverboy/Quiet Riot, Jonathan Richman (x3), Alex Chilton... who knows, they keep popping into my head.  I have seen the inside of so many bars its awkward.

As I age, we will still go see some music, in the last year I had tix for Foo Fighters (cancelled because of the passing of Taylor Hawkins), Billy Strings (I had covid), I got covid returning from the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Vegas, Little Feat, Dead and Co in Cancun last month, Jane's Addiction/Smashing Pumpkins, and Tedeschi Trucks with Los Lobos.

In the interim, 30 years or so I slowed down and have only seen; B-52's, Little Feat so twice overall, Hot Tuna (x2), Jane's Addiction (x3 overall), Billy Strings, Lyle Lovett, Les Claypool (a lot), Pearl Jam (x4 maybe), Neil Young (x3), Robert Plant, U2, Blondie (walked out, she was awful), Sting (x2), R.E.M again, Sammy Hagar, Keb Mo, Sammy Hagar, Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, and GnR, Bob Weir and Wolf Brothers, David Bromberg, Sheryl Crow, and again my memory escapes me, but I like to go to concerts and now more than ever.  I do have tickets for Plant/ Krauss this summer.  Oh, and walking around Vegas Survivor and Night Ranger or some such band on Fremont, as well as Loverboy.

The way the industry is, they don't make money unless they tour so I like to go and then I used to not buy anything because I thought that was weird, but now I do to help pay them for their music.

 

So it's all over the rock n roll spectrum, but pretty significantly skewed toward classic rock and alternative 80's/ early '90's.

Jersey is surprisingly nice.  I didn't spend a ton of time in Jersey, but certainly the further from NY you get the nicer it gets.  The joke was always "What exit do you live off..." but after having been there for short periods I liked it.
