... OK if you wanna quibble. The draft is 10 minutes for your team not an entire game or a 2-3 hour concert. Perhaps I missed the women in paint with helmets and shoulder pads on. But I do ascribe to ignorance is bliss and if it makes them happy I certainly am not gonna point fingers. It was a response to " kind of over the top." which it is by any measure.

The draft is a collection of events all weekend.   But, yes - over the top.

also, he says his opinion of rookies always started on the first day of training camp. 

 

to paraphrase:  “i’m glad you got drafted. congratulations on all the money. but i only care about you if you show up ready to work.”

 

he said the only guy who ever got it as a rookie during his career was jeremy shockey

I don't watch the draft. 

Tiki is correct.  Show up on the first day of camp, check your ego at the door, and get ready to work.

Most of these kids have always been the best athletes growing up and learn a harsh reality that in the NFL everyone is extremely talented.  I can't stand all the pageantry of the draft.  To me it's ugly suits, ugly jewelry and 95% horrible interviews.  Listen these kids were talented and worked hard enough to make it to this point, great, but I like to see who washes out and those later round picks that know how to work have a longer career.

You have to get a little lucky on the injury front.  Going from 10 games to 17 is a lot and everyone is bigger, faster and stronger.   You have to save a bit for the next game and the next one after that.  Talented but lazy guys wash out, but high effort guys can wash out too.

 

I stopped watching after the draft back in 2000 when the Jets had 4 first round picks and they used ALL of their time to choose their players.  Back then it was 15 minutes per pick so we had to wait on them for an hour.  Not fun.

... Gotta love DVR's. I wait about an hour then I am able to fast forward through the fluff. Just check the pick and the commentary and film of that player, then FF to the next pick. I certainly don't need speculation on who someone will pick in 5 minutes.

Here's Ivy on her part of the couch and the other pic is (from the top) Ivy, her mother Bella, sister Willow, and brother River.  Bella is a Great Pyr and Ivy's father was a Tibetan Mastiff named Bane.   The farm she was born at is just down the road from us and on our walks we drop her off to visit with her family.  On our vacations she lodges there and it works out great for us all.

 

Ivy goes about 80 lbs and is a great guard dog with myself and Mrs. NCL acting as her sheep.

... Other than water and unsweetened ice tea or Kambucha, I haven't had a sugar drink in probably 20 years. I used to live on Dr Pepper but once I found out sugar increases inflammation I was out. Can't say I miss it either. Now that brownie is a completely different story. 😊

I don't have a dog but still would like to contribute to today's "Dogs of the Lounge. "

 

My sister is a big animal lover and rescues dogs. Lisa selects the bowsers that she feels will be overlooked by the public that are coming to adopt a dog. Here is Mr. Pepe her 3 legged wonder. Pepe is one of the fastest dogs out of the group of canines that romp around together in the back yard of my sister's house or her neighbor's yards. Pepe has had a good life. 😃
