Cuz of Gram. 🙂

Gram changed everything. He changed the damn Rolling Stones.

If I had to realy get into an argument ... I'd argue Gram was the most important writer.

You'd have a hard time trying to tell me that ain't the greatest song ever written.

And man ... Emmylou.

Oh, yall gym weirdos are just picking stuff up and putting it down for a lil bit.

Come play 300bpm for a few hours in a spot that doesn't believe in AC after loading in and loading out. 😂

The bands I worked around in the Charlotte Area I was not only the sound man but the equipment and transportation manager as well. The last part was due to me having a genuine 1954 Ford Bread truck. I always kept the drummer cool especially in places with no A/C. On outdoor venues with tube type amps we used to shield the amps with a tarp and have an outside fan blowing on them. I had like 4 squirrel cage fans out of old mobile home furnaces for that. I did pretty well with the bread truck charged like $75 a gig to transport. I ended up selling the bread truck to a guitar player after he complained I charged too much. Sold him that truck and quit that band period. He thought he would get my fans included. LOL I told him those were extra. I only did the gigs on the weekend since I drove a truck for a living then

.... I was 12 yrs old and just got my first transistor radio. At night I could get AM stations from New York and Chicago and Paper Back Writer had just been released. I would hear it and then try other stations to hear it again, having absolutely no clue I would be working at one of the radio stations later in life!

There's just something about Paperback Writer that made it one of my favorite Beatles songs. The vocals and guitars were so good for that period of time.

Diversion reflection.  The couple of times I saw the Stooges, playing at Mt. Holly Ski Lodge and Sherwood Forest, several thoughts crossed my mind.  The were a loud but average band, Iggy was over-the-top outrageous, and he'll never make it to 30.  Little did I realize at the time, the Stooges would become the Godfathers of Punk.  And Iggy would be 76 years old.  Good grief!!!

Mark me as a U2 fan.  Also mark me as a guy who also finds some of Bono’s soliloquies and pet projects as over the top, though he puts his money with his mouth and I do respect that.

Not only would I cross a street to see them I would go to a big ball in Vegas.  I don’t love the album they are celebrating but there is something about them live, hard to take your eyes off them, even when they are doing nothing special.

Don't know if you were still in the area, but Mt. Holly was one of many venues for the local music scene.   During cold weather, the groups would play in the lodge.  During the summer, there was a bandstand setup at the base of a hill.  And just 10 minutes up Dixie Highway from Clarkston, where I grew up.  Was a regular spot to go to listen to music and dance.  There was also the Silverbell Ski Lodge on M-24 and Silverbell road.  Became known as the Silverbell Hideout.  They had all the Michigan based bands as well.  Plus, groups of greater renown.  Saw Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac there.  Was like 20' from the small stage.  A 20 minute rendition of Oh Well was cosmic.

Place and time, there was an abundance of music to experience.

Picture of early Alice inside the Mt. Holly Lodge.  Those beams were as low as they appear. And no, Alice Cooper did nothing for me.

And that's why music is the best. It makes no difference that I don't like them. My hatred for them is from a little bit of jealousy because as musicians they just aren't that good.
