Srixon ZX MKII Utility

Has anyone hit the new ZX MKII Utility or put it in the bag? I loved the ZU65 and liked the ZU85. For the last generation ZX Utility, the profile and finish was perfect…I just disliked the tinny sound and different feel that it had compared to the previous Srixon utilities. Would love to know if the new one has more of the ZU65/ZU85 sound and feel or if it’s similar to the ZX utility MKI.

I’ve tested it a lot in the sim. I believe others have mentioned: it’s crazy hot off the face. If you just want a solid driving iron then it’s perfect. Almost think it’s too long for gapping.

I’ve tried them all, it’s the best feeling utility out there. Most feel like garbage in comparison. Stock shaft is pretty lame for high swing speeds. Highly recommend the 20*, but the 18* was silly - was getting 3 wood distances.

I’ve heard from a few guys that they preferred the ZX4 long irons over the Utility.

Just finished maiden trip using the mkii 4 utility iron. For reference I have the 3 iron version with same shaft in the older model (ZX). From my uneducated perspective, the new version has slightly more offset to my eye but plays a little more forgiving and launched slightly higher. Still had no problem playing my normal fade

I hit it. I like the sound of it better than my ZX Utility however I like the look of my ZX Utility more.

performance wise about the same

best utility iron on the market when taking into account distance, accuracy and playability

I played the MKi last year in a 4i and am doing the same this year with the MKii.

Very similar. New one may be a smidge more forgiving, but nothing to write home about.

It’s very easy to hit as a high soft long iron or flight one down to run for days. Very versatile. Best UT on the market.

I have zero issues gapping it between my 5i and 5w.

Can you share why? I am looking to add a "driving iron" Thanks.

I bought a zx4 mkII 4-iron and a ZX mkII 4-utility to pair with my 5-PW 7-series. My initial impression was I preferred the ZX4 due to it looking more like the rest of the bag. After a few days of testing I am going ZX utility 4 due to launching higher and carrying further while being as easy to hit as the ZX4. Not a bad choice either way though!

Looks mostly. The ZX4 doesn’t have as much sole that shows out of the back like the utility does and a thinner sole. It’s 21* so it can be bent strong if needed.

Played 18 yesterday. 20 MKii Utility off the tee instead of driver. WOW I was impressed with feel, ball flight and distance. It was windy and when hit into wind it kept going with a mid/high penetrating ball flight. BEST Utility/Driving iron I have tested.

Thinking trying it with AD 95 shaft.

finally hit this today off Grass.  I used it 5 times today (3 tee balls and 2x 2nd shot on par 5s).

It is AMAZING.  So far so good.  I think ill start the season with it.

Ive always stuggled hitting utilities hit them too low and left.  This one just had a beautiful flight.

Mine came in today along with my ZX5s. Took them to the range, then decided to go play 9 holes and only hit irons to try and get them dialed in.  Hit the 4 with the stock  S recoil shaft off 7 holes, and twice on the par 5s. I only hit the 5 iron once,  but felt the driving iron was a good 15 yards longer.  Loved the feeling of it though.  Hit every gir and shot 1 under.  3 shots better than yesterday using my driver on the same 9 holes.  I wasn't exactly accurate with it, but my misses were all still in the fairway,  and distance was about the same as my 7 wood.

My longest iron is currently a zx4 mkii 5 iron (23 degrees) and then I have a g430 7 wood turned down to 20 degrees. Debating what to fill the gap with and have been considering the zx4 mkii 4 iron (21 degrees) or one of the new utility irons. Can anyone compare/contrast the utility iron vs the zx4 mkii 4 iron?

I currently have the newer ZX Mkii utility (2 iron) in my bag. I have no experience with the ZU65/85 but have heard really positive things. I briefly owned a ZX utility but did not enjoy the feel and got rid of it. To be fair though, I think a lot of that had to do with the stock graphite shaft it came with.

The ZX Mkii is fantastic and I use it a lot during a typical round. After learning from my short-lived ZX utility stint, I went with a steel shaft and am convinced this was definitely the right choice for me personally. I wish I could give you a direct comparison like you had asked but given that one had graphite and the other has steel, I'm not sure it would be fair. Based on my experience, I recommend putting in some thought about the shaft you plan to go with.

Currently looking at a more forgiving 4i to go with my zx7’s.  I’m torn between zx4 mkii or zx utility.  Hearing great feedback on the zx4 mkii which is leading me that way.  Then maybe utility in the 3i spot if needed.

Bump…

Had a zx mkii utility 3i built with Kuro Kage silver 80x shaft in it.  Cut down .5” and it is unreal!  I’ve played quite a few utility irons over the past 5 seasons and this one really stands out.
