Corey Connors - 4-iron "prototype"?

Recommended Posts

https://www.golfwrx.com/707815/corey-conners-witb-2023-march/

This little nugget didn't get any press. Given that Ping have just done their iCrossover, they released 230s, and there's no reason to think they'd have a specialist club… are we talking S259 here? Does anyone know more?

RogueST 9@11º 3D (ADDI 6X), 425 3w 14.5º (TourX), 430 3h 19º & 4 iCross (HZRDUS Red 6.0), i230 5-U, G4 54º, GFP 59º (DART105F4). 2021 Fetch (BGT Tour Black).

"Golf is just a dance with a stick, and a ball tells you how good a dancer you are."  LCP150mm in your fairway should be a full-time rule.

The 4 iron I'm seeing in the picture is just a run-of-the-mill iBlade. Perhaps whoever posted the WITB made a mistake?

I saw that same 4-iron. That's why it was so odd… maybe it is an error, but that's a particularly high-effort error?

PING has done a couple "prototypes" that were literally just the production club without badging, or with different badging. I have an i500 proto that is literally just the retail i500 without the "i500" logo on the back. I wouldn't be surprised if that is what.

Joaquin Niemann plays Project X 6.0

Russel Henley plays Dynamic Gold S400

Hideki Matsuyama played a Dynamic Gold S400 for almost all of last year

I don't have the exact quote but Jack Nicklaus said something along the lines of "you should be playing the softest and lightest shaft you possibly can"

These guys are all about control so if you can achieve that by having a lil softer of a shaft so you don't need to swing as hard I think ego goes out the door

I know there is a small group of guys on tour using a softer flex shaft but those numbers are very small. Out of approximately 150 guys teeing it up every week on tour there’s about 5-6 using a stiff iron shaft…that’s a pretty low percentage.

oh it's a super small percentage I'm totally aware of that, still something to consider though

PX  6.0  still more of an X  than a S

I agree.  And think of it this way, the guys playing X100 for example, for them it might be the softest, lightest shaft they can play.  They could probably swing X7, but it's either too heavy or too stiff for their feel.  X100 doesn't feel like a board to guys with higher swing speeds tour players, same with PX 6.5.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
