Titleist 2023 irons

Going through the thread it looks like a majority with combo sets (whether it be T100/150 or T200/150) did the split at 7 iron. Any reason why for anyone? Purely performance?

For me 7 iron was kind of in limbo but I decided 5-7 in T200 and 8-PW in 150. Partially due to performance but also partially because of club profile (lose the speed channel at 8 so figured a nice starting point from a different forgiveness perspective).

Kind of rethinking the decision…

It would have been based purely on the 5mph gap if they were doing a fitting. No point in going to the T200 if you're hitting an iron well with the required gap.

FYI I returned the 2021 T100 irons that were incorrectly ordered by the store. The correct order was placed this time (triple checked) and added the gap wedge. Fingers crossed.

I asked what kind of discount they’d give me if I kept the 2021 irons and they responded they might be able to work a little off the price but it wouldn’t be significant.

After 27 practise holes, straight into bag for competition round in the morning. By far the best improvements over 2021 are the feel and solidness of the t200 4 iron and the much more solid feel of the t100 compared to the 2021. Still not 100% certain if the t150 5-7 benefits outweigh the loss of feel but going well enough to give them a proper try. Not entirely happy with the Titleist 360 grips. They seem a little soft and swishy to me, more movement during the swing. Will probably change them out for proper 360s as soon as I get a set in

Well I can say I am not playing my best golf ever. In fact it is the worse golf in a long time. But still when I 100s they feel great. This Golf WRX so I’m sure I’ll find a way to get new ones, but right now I might hold off until winter to order. Also as I stated before I might try to get all the new stuff in bag. U505, 350, 200 UT 200i, 150, 100, why you ask, why not.

4 T200 5-7 T150 8-AW T100?

Yes, extra distance in 5-7 got rid of gapping closing too tight in long irons and staying with std loft in 4 iron gave better option to hit low ones, especially off the tee. The utility 4 was a little high and soft flight wise for me, designed really to blend into t100 5 iron. That was my setup in 2021 versions

Did the team titleist fitting today and the t200 were the fit for me, but just did not care for the feel. Going to pass for now.

the t200 Utility, on the other hand, is an instant purchase with ADIZ 95HY. Thing is a rocket and super easy to hit. The U505 is awesome too but a bit too chunky.

Currently in x100 ZX5 MKII, fitted for T150 Modus 130.  I ordered them, but I have not received them.  The T150 looks and feels amazing.  I check my order status every day.  Might be the best iron I've hit for my game.

I'm in a similar boat, currently playing ZX7/ZX5 combo set and also ordered a full set of T150's. I too loved the feel of the T150's. Really curious to see how these perform once I get them. I very much liked the Srixon's but the solid feel of the T150's really surprised me when I tried them.

Got the new irons on the course today.  I was thrilled with the performance of all the irons and love how well they get through the turf.  T200 4i is amazing.  T150 definitely has some help when you don't hit it right in the middle so it it nice to not get punished for an off center hit.  T100 PW I have bent at 45 deg and I love it.   130y with my PW is my distance and I am happy with that.  The more I look at the old AP2 it is seems clear the new T series was inspired by them.  the AP2 was amazing and these T series irons are next level.

Went up to DSG to see Titleist sets in person, of course they received 350 . Ended up hitting 7i in T200,150,100s. 150 is barely bigger than 100s, sole is wider for sure, but everything else close. Feel was very similar, numbers close, of course I didn’t hit any really good ones. Maybe ball speed slightly higher on 150. I could easy play a full set. T200 was good, definitely higher ball speeds on mishits. Looks are not bad at all, I could play a full set of those as well. They do not look big at all. The full set of 350 looked like you think. After playing those BB21 though I could play a whole set. As much as I change clubs I might skip the whole fitting thing. Be true WRX’er order a set of T200, then later try to find it order 150 scoring irons. 😩

It’s the ZX7’s that you must be talking about as those are some very nice clubs no doubt. If you play the original ZX7’s then you have played them for awhile. You said you owned the t150’s briefly as they just came out so did you even give them a fair chance to even enjoy them. The ZX 7s are hard to beat I will agree but Mizuno’s are even harder to beat when it comes to feel. The V-sole is what might really make a big difference for you especially if that’s what you are used to. It’s either a love or hate thing with most people.

I played the original ap2s for like 8 years. Have owned ap3s, original t200s, original t100s, Mizuno 921, 923 forged and 225 pros. Zx7s were my first set of srixons. None of the clubs I’ve owned previously have felt as soft as the srixons zx7s. And I’ve owned a bunch of those clubs since buying my zx7s. I love Titleist. At times in my life I’ve bagged an entire set of Titleist clubs. The 150s are beautiful clubs. But they are not as soft or as forgiving as the zx7s in my opinion.

Update to my original post on the 350s

There is a normal Saturday game at the dinky course I'm a member at.

We usually play 18 Stableford, 9 Shamble, 9 Scramble drawing teams for each.

I did not stretch properly for an extensive simulator session yesterday or the opening round today so early today I had some nerve pain in my lower back. Didn't really become a negative impact on the game until the last few holes of the first 18 but it severely limits my ability to really give an accurate impression of the irons distance wise because I couldn't fully swing at it for the majority of the 36 but here's why I have:

Forgiveness - did not have any significant misses left or right. Some shots I hit offline were straighter than I would have expected. Distance drop offs on mishits seemed to be pretty minimal.

The other aspect of forgiveness - sole width. Some of you will know what I'm talking about. This is the category of iron I've always gravitated towards. Strong lofted, plenty of tech and help, but not massive or ugly. I've always had trouble with trying irons that have too wide of a sole. I've never gotten along with any ping G series I've tried. I tried the T400 and it was never going to work. The only two wide soled irons I ever hit well were the Mizuno MP H4s (only the 2-6 could be described as wide) and the Srixon ZX4s. Sole is perfectly proportioned on the T350s.

Distance - From what I can gather they are in fact really long. Spin is low but not crazily so and there's plenty of launch.

Control - hit plenty of knock down and 3/4 wedges and short irons. Very easy to get a feel for and get the distances right.

Around the greens - if anyone likes to use PW / GW for bump and runs around the greens these seem to work just fine. Didn't find them too jumpy / none spinny

Had a fitting today for 150’s and 200’s. As badly as I wanted to order the 150’s, I decided to be “smart” and go with the 200’s. The numbers were just better for my ball striking. Playing at a 12.3 right now. Maybe by next summer I’ll improve my ball striking a bit and find a gently used set of 150’s.
