Sea level & cold damp air adds 300 yds to the course from any tees easily. That puts the average drive of us WRX’ers at 340 vs 375 like we’re used to, and takes away any advantage 4-cap men have over these ladies…

I like the idea of hosting the tournament in the defending champions' home country.

 

 

I was planning on going today but there’s little excitement for me with the reduced field & not for $25 parking plus $60 admission. I have USWO Pebble tickets already for July so looking forward to that instead.

@JungleJimbo I can't speak for every club in Oz but men's (always white) knee high socks with shorts have been phased out as mandatory over the last decade just about everywhere.

 

Shame really, the 70+ yo's were able to slip out of their golf shoes, slip into a pair of sandals and pop down to the bush or beach for a saunter

Seriously, enough with the weather reports. Heck, it's not even summer. What did they expect in May in SF? I teed off yesterday and it was 39 degrees. Beautiful day.

I'd still go. At least all eight teams are still playing. Not often that you get to walk with a group less than 10 feet away. I've been to 9 LPGA tournaments, and haven't regretted a single one.

I love matchplay, played lots in my (half decent) amateur life in Oz. It's a staple in the UK and commonwealth (and plenty in the US, too).

 

The Solheim is my favourite event. Think about that, I'm an Aussie, why would that interest me? Why, it's just the best golf 'theatre', I have no Euro/US bias, just love the best matchplay women's golf.

 

I've enjoyed this Crown event so far but the format is so flawed: the England team debacle and a virtually dead rubber 3rd day...WTF?

 

Mike Whan is just wrong, we need a women's President's cup with an America's team (yes, Mike, an America's team, so what if there is no America's flag, the UK is no longer part of the EU and each Euro country's player drapes themselves in their country's flag anyway).

 

Think about an America's team with the best US players plus say Brooke, Gabby Lopez and maybe Maddie Szeryk in the 12 (all who will have some US fan following anyway), vs an international (non-Euro) team with Lydia, Minjee, Jeeno plus the top Koreans, Japanese, maybe Ash Buhai?

 

That will be a terrific contest. Alternate years to the Solheim, US players get to represent their country every year. Simply the best women's golf, probably even better than the Solheim considering the strength of Asian players.

 

This Crown event is too flawed, its ok but can be so much better.

I was amazed no one mentioned it before, and I didn't want to be the party pooper. As entertainment product the coverage has been ludicrous, and i am a devoted fan! I don't know where to being complaining. I feel Grant Boone is in the midst of a life crisis.

One of the reason's this event doesn't work - withdrawals ruin the team, make it uncompetitive. I felt sorry for Alice and Liz, lovely people but simply not (yet) up to this event. Georgia and Charley....hmmm, hope they enjoyed the coronation/airBNB with Ryann.

 

 Two withdrawals from 'injury' wouldn't ruin an international team of 12.

Not this millenium, in my case. Perhaps it was about 2002 when a club I was a member of relented to allow short sports socks, if they were white.
