In praise of the Gen 4 HZRDUS Black

Still liking this shaft. I have picked up a TSR3 with a Gen 4 black 60 6.0, same as my Srixon  which I still have, and added a TSR3 16.5 FW with a Gen 4 70 6.0. This shaft just fits my swing so well and feels so much better than the older versions IMO.

Smoke Black RDX 6.5 90g in my hybrid, great shaft. Think the low torque is a key to success of the HZRDUS line.

Demo'd the hybrid Gen 4 Black in a 2 iron. Note: very FAT through the midsection, ala OG Graf Blue - I expected a tight feel, and was not disappointed. Normally I'm a 6.5 or TX, but this was off-the-shelf 6.0, and it was *not* terribly loose. Even the 6.0 has torque down at 2.3*. The 105g TX (my preferred fit in hybrid) is down at 1.9*. That's Aldila territory. Looking forward to snagging one of those soon. 80TX looks good for FW at 2.1*! I'm assuming larger-than-normal mid-shaft diameters in the wood line too? Can anyone confirm?

Have played a few hzrdus and the rdx and gen 4 black have been my favorite. Currently have a gen 4 60 6.5 In my c723. Wanted to order with the 70 but wasn’t able to get that custom.
 

Have a gen 4 in a 5w I love as well. Still experimenting as the c723 is brand new to the bag but love the feel and dispersion of it.

I am still digging the GEN 4 In my driver and 3 wood. Next purchase is a TSR2 Hybrid with the GEN 4. Hope it is performs like the driver and 3 wood. Just so darn straight. My left miss is gone like I had in the Ventus TR Blue. Great shaft at a great price.

I have to say, the feel is exceptional.
 

I've only hit a ventus once but I get the impression thats the shaft project x would like to compare to.
 

I got an 80 6.5 in a used 3 wood and have been completely in love with it.  I don't know if it's the profile or materials or what, but it has a really unique feel that I would describe as "crisp".  It's the kind of feel I can imagine before I hit the ball, which is important to me. 
 

Again, this is probably a fitting thing so I wouldn't buy one without trying it, but it has always shown up in big moments for me.  I can routinely carry it 290, which feels closer than proportional to my driver distance.  Because of this I just bought an uncut  70 6.5 (about $70 on ebay) to try in my driver

Anyone have experience with the HZRDUS Black Gen 4 compared to the newer Ping Tour 2.0 Black?

 

They appear to be pretty close in weights relative to flex and both seem to target the Ventus Black family.

New WRX'r here, long time reader - recently picked up on BST a Gen4 70 6.5 for my G425 LST based on this thread. Previously had the stock Ping Tour 65x, and wow. It's night and day.

 

No data to back it up, but based on what I'm seeing over a few range sessions I'm finding the middle of the club face way more and dispersion has significantly shrunk. Really hyped to get out on the course and see if results carry over.

Was a long time Evenflow black player in M3/Stealth, tried RDX Black but felt it was balanced/weighted differently than EF.1 But I have found a new home with Gen4 black in the Qi10. Evenflow is in my 3wd until the day I die or it breaks. RDX Black I have found extremely great in my Hybrids so I am currently gaming all 3 in my bag, EF Black, RDX Black and Gen4 black.

Interesting you play 75g in both driver and fairway, like Rahm. Care to share tipping info? I lean more toward 65g in driver, 85g in FW, and 105g in hybrid! Agree @ RDX Black in hybrid. Looking forward to G4 in driver. Can you say if the G4 wood shaft seems 'fatter' - i.e. larger diameter? It definitely is in hybrid, ala OG Graf Blue...

I'm going to give the Qi10 core 3-wood a try with the Gen4 Black 70.  Given the positive reviews in this thread I'm hopeful it's a winner - 3-wood slot in my bag is definitely the weakest element currently.

I loved the GEN4 in my TSR2 Driver and 3 wood. Very consistent and very straight. Still regret selling those clubs.

Driver Gen4 is tipped 1/2" and 3wood is tipped 1". The driver is only 6.0 flex while 3wd is 6.5. I find the weight helps me stay smooth and quiet with my hands in the driver. I tried 60g 6.5 and I tried 70g 6.5 and found the best combo with the Qi10 is the 70g 6.0.

Have played both, currently playing the GEN4 70TX and I think the Ping Black is actually stiffer. From what i have heard the GEN4 is a bit softer than previous versions and I would agree. Launch and spin seem to be up a it.

The Gen 4 seems to bring out the best of the Hzrdus line with the smoothness of a Riptide baked into it. Very stable, but you wouldn't necessarily know it by swinging. Definitely very smooth. I didn't like it at first last year, but I tried the 80TX in the driver and it was a winner. I just don't think I liked the 60g version I tried.

Originally, I had a lot of weight in the driver, so naturally that would have soft stepped it. I took the weight out recently and it's not really any different. Nice flight path, nice feedback without being harsh.... I think my driver is finally D.O.N.E!

I feel like I should test out the hybrid shaft... 😄 But I'm gonna wait until the Denali Black comes out to do some comparison shopping.
