Miura CB57 or Ping S55 - which is better? anything better?

Considering adding one of these irons to my inventory. Given the cult status seems like this would be a safe addition? Thought would be to have these as core playing set.

Questions for those more in the know or have actually hit them:

1). Is there anything better out there? Are more modern clubs an upgrade from these two sets?

2). For those familiar with both sets does on stand above the other?

Thanks.

S55 are great and they remain great for a long time due to them not showing any real wear

Love them both. CB57 feel is quite addictive. I’d say they’re a little harder to hit. Had a set and regret selling them.

Only have experience with s55.  Great, relatively forgiving players iron.  Buy a set, try them.  If you don’t like them sell them.  You should not be out much $$ if the experiment fails for you, its not like you are going to add any wear to a used set of S55s in a few weeks.

  • LowAndLeft32 changed the title to Miura CB57 or Ping S55 - which is better? anything better?

I have 57 and had s55. You could play ether today and not yearn for more. The largest difference is feel as the 57’s are so dense. The 55 still have a firmer feel. The 55 are bullet proof though. They still look fantastic after years of you kept em well.
I would be super happy to find a next to new trade in of s55 and have that battle again

Feel wise, no comparison, CB57 hands down one of the best feeling clubs I've ever hit.  S55 more forgiving but not by much.  Looks' CB57 for me.

If I were to choose one it would have to be the CB57, it's just a special iron.

I couldn't say it any better. Both are fantastic and I'm back to playing S55, ONLY because I wore the 57's out.

I agree with this as well. IMHO, the CB57 is the BEST iron Miura has ever produced for the masses. I'd still be gaming them if they would wear a little better. But the feel between the two belongs to the 57 and it's not even close.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

I just scored a set of s55’s. First impression I’m a big fan.

On the Cb57s would you happen To know where the VCog might be? Maltby does not seem to rate these.  I prefer heavier heads with low cogs.

I don't have any information to say the exact VCoG location but can say the 57's is lower than the 55 and the 57 head weights are heavier. PM sent
