That's my next thing to check. Had to install new kitchen appliances last night so I only had the energy and time to check SW's after finally getting to open the box. Going to get them on my spec gauge tonight.

Woah, that would have made for some confusing gapping on the course. Looks like you've got the 245?

Yeah, I hadn't actually hit the 4 iron prior to that and when I finally did, it was flying max. 5 yards further than the 5. So I bent the 5 back and the 4 down and got the gapping right. So dumb though that for a $2k(CDN) set of irons, you get that kind of crap going on.

Another question about the fli-hi...can it be bent to adjust loft?

I'd like to have my clubmaker bend mine 1° weak.

Absolutely.  I’ve bent mine for loft and lie a couple of times…this new version and the old version.  No issues.

So ordering short -25” is confirmed to bring it to industry standard or at least Titleist standard length correct?

What can I say, I’m a junkie. It all started with learning to build my own clubs because I got tired of guys screwing them up, and kind of just snowballed from there.

That's what I have discovered and orderd.

So I talked to a Mizuno rep and called into customer service. The Mizuno Custom Resource Guide states there’s no difference in playing length but just how they’re measured/listed. So I changed my order to standard length.

I’ve learned Miz measures the cut shaft length verses nears grip lines. So they come out longer than say Titleist. I stayed at -.25”

Had my specs checked today by a local build shop and he was very impressed by how accurate my 245's were built by Mizuno.

4-7 were D2 (7 iron came in D1.9)

8 D2.25

9 D2.5

PW D2.5

Lofts and lies were all standard as requested. He did agree that he has seen some odd specs come through their shop recently but mine came out almost perfect.

Was this a standard order for length and standard grips (50 grams)?

This was standard length, loft, lie, with MCC +4 (which I think are 54 grams ish).

Mizuno has the longest irons. Srixon is pretty close. Titleist, Ping, Callaway about 1/4” shorter than Mizuno. Taylormade irons are super short. Like 1/2” shorter than Mizuno and 1/4” shorter than most brands.

There is too much misinformation here about how a company "measures iron length". Each company lists on their website the standard length of their irons. This information is accurate.

If company A lists their standard 5-iron length as 38" and company B lists their standard as 38.25", this is accurate.

If you have a 5-iron you like and the brand lists that 5-iron as 38", that is your correct length. If you want to try a different brand which lists their 5-iron as 38.25" once you order one it will arrive .25" longer than your previous 38" 5-iron.

The butt end of a grip and, or different grip types make 1/8th of an inch difference (or less) to the measured finished length of the club.

My build quality coming from Mizuno was abysmal. Multiple ferrules spinning and already creeping up the shaft, and only one grip is put on straight. Working with the shop on getting them rebuilt or a new set sent from Mizuno.

I haven’t measured them or had them on a Lie/Loft machine to see how off the specs are.

That’s not true. Cobra lists a 7 iron at 37.25” and it’s shorter than Mizuno who used to list their irons at 37” and has now been changing to 37.25”. And it’s very easy to check by going to a shop and putting different brands irons together and seeing all the different lengths. Heck, I’ve seen 2 identical sets of srixons at a shop and they were different lengths.

Point is, they all measure different. Most are the same but there are exceptions. Taylormade has been the most wonky from everyone and are always way short compared to other manufacturers.

IMG_3267.jpeg.bba355735ac9eab17f3c997068b27c90.jpegAnyone had issues with lengths from factory? I have 243’s.  As we all know, there should be 1/2” between clubs. By my measurements, the only correct 1/2” gap is between my 8 and 9. You can also tell my GW is slightly longer than my PW. The other gaps are slightly shorter than 1/2”. I wish I never even looked at it. Now it bothers me.

If you just got them Mizuno should cover that under warranty. I’m supposed to get getting a replacement set since my build quality was abysmal.

Sounds like a common issue this release.  My align grips were all over the place.  It’s a shame they can manufacture something so beautiful but then have such s*** builds.

Shop I bought through is doing their best to have Mizuno ship one out first and then get me a return for the poor build. The grips don’t bother me too much because they won’t be on for more than a season. The shaft labels being inconsistent and the ferrules already sliding up is aggravating after a month.

That’s just unacceptable. Mizuno better get their s*** together. Almost a month lead times and then they show up like that. The T150 v Blueprint v 243 conversations should probably start taking this into account. Even though 243 was the winner for me across the board. Mizuno has us by the balls.
