Very disappointed if there really isn't B weights available.  Was planning on ordering 245s +.75

There is currently only one weight available in the heads, and the mizuno rep I spoke to today wouldn’t tell me the weight of my heads for “proprietary” reasons, which is odd considering I could just take the shaft off and weigh it lol.

In any event, I hope I can figure out what swing weights and specs these were built to this weekend and start getting along with them or I’ll go back to my JPX923 which would be a shame as these are gorgeous irons.

I made the exact same order but 243. Mind don't feel like that heavy of a swingweight, but I'll see if my club has a SW scale to check on.

I will say my grips were put on terribly. I did +2 wraps & Lamkin UTX, and they're almost all crooked. My 5 iron grip is roughly 45* turned to the left.

My grips were all perfectly aligned except one. Disappointing considering the price of these.

Quick update on my 245's. Finally had a range session today where these were feeling incredible and consistently striking out the middle of the face. I guess my first two range sessions were the wizard not the wand situation, and took some getting used to coming from my 923F.

In any event, still planning to get my specs checked and sw's, but after that range session the confidence is up and scoring irons were feeling pure.

Ordered 243 5-P w LZ6.0. My first mizuno set, will compare to my 620CB (1* strong) w LZ 6.0.

I usually play standard length 38" 5 iron. Should I order these .25" less?? I'm confused and don't want them too long or too short.

What us the stock length of the 243 5-iron?

What is the stock length of the 620CB 5-iron?

38” 5 iron is the current ‘standard’. Mizuno now lists 38 and 38.25 USGA length as standard.
My question is when ordering, which length is the reference?

They haven’t changed their lengths - they’ve come out long for a few years as they measure without grip. If you hold a 620 CB and a 243 5 iron next to each other you’ll see a quarter in difference with the mizuno being a hair longer.

Both are the same length.  The reason for the .25” difference listed is the measurement method used.  The same club measures 38” using Mizunos method and 38.25” using the USGA method.

It would be nice if all manufacturers would just use the USGA method so there would be consistency across the industry.

You previously suggested that you like the length of your 620CB , which is a stock 38" 5-iron.

If you want your Mizuno 243 to be the same finished length as your 620CB, then order the 243 at 38" 5-iron length (-.25" from Mizuno standard length for the 243 model).

This comparison finally came out!  After all the talk of maybe higher spin... lower spin.... I think the fair verdict is that nothing's really much different on a good strike.

I just watched this after hitting the 243 in store today. I tried the Modus 120 and 115 in stiff and found the numbers to be similar but the 115 a touch smoother to load. I liked that shaft a lot. If I decide to go stock, I could get the 223, stock 115 S shaft, and save some money as well. I could also go stock 243 with the 120 S. Both of these have some great feel plus added forgiveness.

Decisions to make now after I move my P7MC irons.

This is correct. I called Mizuno and they confirmed they measure the cut shaft length prior to grip install👍🏼 They wouldn’t speak to other brand’s length as comparison.
Mine are ordered -.25”.
thx for the input, this has been the most confusing back and forth for a basic spec🤪

Not happy hearing about the B weight heads going away, given I would trust almost no OEM to hit a swing weight anyway. I don't plan on changing shafts anytime soon and would be worried about getting sledgehammers.

Does anyone know if the Fli Hi can be ordered custom? I see shaft options etc. listed on the site but none of the retailers seem to have it for custom.

One think i've noticed going from JPX923 Forged to my 245's; the 923 forged felt quite a bit softer.

Just ordered a set of 243’s, been searching for the right set since the beginning of the year. Feel confident in these. The forgiveness was what surprised me most. Mizuno feel is obviously there too.

My 243's arrived yesterday (ordered on 3/14). I ordered them -.25" short due to Mizuno's way of measuring. I also requested D3-D4 swing weight. Put them on my scale and the 5 iron was D3 and the PW was D4, with a gradual progression in between. So was relieved to see that.

If I didn’t specify a swing weight in my order is there a default that they are built to ?

I haven't been able to find a stated stock SW anywhere. I'm guessing somewhere in the D2 or D3 range. If making significant length adjustments, they may not be able to hit those numbers. I went with DG 120 shafts, so probably just a 2-4 gram tip weight was all mine needed.

I didn't specify in my build either - still need to get them checked.

The build sheet from Mizuno will show as "Best" under SW.

I spoke with Mizuno and they try build them to an "average" across the set of D2.5 depending on spec (grip, shaft, etc) so the set will range somewhere from D2 to D3 throughout the set.

Which by the way is today! Out for delivery this morning. Will post pics.

Check the lofts/lies when you get them kids. Seems Mizuno QC has gone downhill.
