AVX vs ProV1

Hello. I swing driver 115-120. Play AVX. Simple question. Will ProV1 be noticeably longer? Curious about that.

No definite answer to that as we don't know if you need more or less spin with driver and what your other numbers with driver look like.  AVX launches lower and spins slightly less than the ProV1.  It did for me.  I'm 118 for reference and my AoA is +2-3*.

Splayed both, depends. Sometimes spin is your friend, other times it’s not. But AVX dies launch lower in my experience. Maybe slightly better in wind too.

I swing 95-100 mph.  The AVX is better than ProV1 for me as I need lower spin with the driver.  I don't find that it very low - a nice mid-high trajectory for me.  But I agree with others - test it out.

I actually gained 5-7 yards moving from ProV1 to AVX. I needed the lower spin ball, however.

Agreed off irons, but it's awful around the greens! No confidence to pitch to the pin and have it stop

Awful around the greens is pretty hyperbolic. My game around the green is my largest strokes gained area and I have very little trouble getting my pitches and chips to check. I actually spun too much into and around the green using a prov1. This is why it's so important to try balls yourself. No stranger on the internet is going to give you the right answer for your own game.

Very true! Playing well I get up and down more often with the Z Star than the AVX. Its my biggest strokes gained area as well, hence the comment. Assume your comment relates to playing AVX, for me there is a marked difference between the two.

There was someone on the other threads saying they had inside info and  guaranteed the AVX would not make it to 2023, and we all see how that turned out. 

 

That being said, I do think it would make sense if Titleist dropped the AVX name and made it a part of the Pro V1 line... they could call it the "Pro V1&".

I recently switched to the AVX. The flight/spin profile just seems to be a perfect fit for me and I get a distance boost off the tee that seems effortless. 

 

My greenside game is not built around checking the ball on the green. I either play a low shot that is meant to run out like a putt or if there's trouble to cover I can hit a high floater. I don't try to one hop/stop it. 

 

The only downside for me so far is seeing my 5/6 iron shots fly quite a bit lower than I'd like. To be fair I'm probably talking about 2-4 shots per round so I'm willing to live with it, but I'm also considering weakening the lofts a degree or two to counteract the ball.

I used to play ProV1, switched to ProV1x then to Dash -ProV1x and AVX.  Have new balls of each in the bag.  With respect to AVX and ProV1, other than feel and slight sound difference at impact, they are so similar, can't tell the difference distance wise.  Only on fast 11.5-12+ stimp greens, then ProV1, DASH, and ProV1x reign superior.  Though AVX still spins, it doesn't grab like the other balls.

 

AVX has a slightly higher flight path from NEW ProV1, in between ProV1 and ProV1x.  All of them spin relatively the same when hitting the average public green, 10 and under, stimp.  Really fast 11+ stimp greens and warm out, DASH is in play or ProV1x.  AVX is left in the bag. 

 

Yesterday, on a public course, greens looked pretty and putted great, except soft substructure, held too much.  It was cold, some wind, and drizzle early, so AVX was in play.  When it hit the green it left a nice divot, but abruptly stopped, very annoying, even chipping and little pitches.   The problem with those type greens, they putt nicely only hold too much at impact.

My personal experience has been a lower flight and firmer feel.  I have felt that the ball comes off hitter on pitch/chip shots.  Don't spin as well either.  No real distance distance for me.
