TP reserve putters

syders

Recommended Posts

Just tried these out at golf Galaxy

it’s a miss for me personally. Wish they had gone milled face rather than the grooves

it makes the sound and feel just a little clicky for me Vs the Scotty and PLDs

love the shape offerings but just can’t enjoy the feel. Also they feel nice out the absolute middle but even a ball hair off center and it’s not pleasant

my personal feelings obviously, I can see this appealing to their existing putter clients (plastic face inserts) but not converting any milled fans

These coded names are a miss. If someone says Soto or Mullen or Ardmore you’ve got a chance of knowing which putter they are talking about.

Was just about to come here and comment this. What a bad release, I don't know who signed off on this naming convention, but their marketing department is asleep at the wheel.

Or a Monte Carlo, Maranello, or Imola, like the old Kia Ma Rossa days.

the logo 'reserve' looks cheap to me. however, the milling and shaping looks superb. they should come out with a line with black/dark 303 and name it something else. the green 'r' isn't impressing me as a consumer lol.

The all black editions will get to be sold as limited drops. I am sure they will be coming.

Not feeling these. The whole thing is bland and doesnt compare to other milled stuff out there. Price doesnt even make it competitive. The green is like the new bettinardis. Wierd move with the looks for doing something people have been waiting for. A milled spider line would have been nice. Spider Milled by TM  would have been cool maybe.

Do u mean to say they missed the mark by not using pure roll grooves? Because the milled grooves are not pure-roll, it's strictly for feel + acoustics. Milled pure-roll grooves would have made this release much more interesting imo.

I like the M37 but something about the bottom sole plate looks kinda cheap, gotta see it in person I guess since they don't mention the material used. It's difficult not to be skeptical about quality control with TM products

yes. If I were in marketing or R&D I don’t see how you don’t put your patented pure roll grooves in here. Or make a spider with a milled face

Oh ok, yeah, totally agree. I’m also still a bit confused about how they decided on a 6/23 release date, from a marketing stand point

I'll say that I think these look amazing. I am not a Taylormade fan, but I am a putter addict. I think Taylormade has hit a triple.

1) Grooves: Scotty and now Ping have the standard milling locked up. Zero reason for Taylormade to do that. Toulon has the funky diamond approach, which will go the way of the dodo soon. No other big players do grooves like this (not counting Bettinardi and Evnroll). This is sufficiently differentiated.

2) Naming: Who gives a crap. Most companies do this poorly (god knows why Toulon doesn't just use the Odyssey convention).

3) Future: TM has shown that they are the best company at allowing products to be customized. I bet they have the MyReserve version soon, and it will have patina options, different sightlines, hosels, etc. I wonder if they'll be able to this in a more user friendly / cost effective way that the other big guys (e.g., Ping needs >$1,000 vs just letting me customize it online for a reasonable price... so lame, and I love Ping).

All in all, trying to be objective, this is the best possible compliment to the Spider. The TP line is weak and having a milled option is something every good company should have. It's not perfect, but a great decision and a great start.

I got the joke, but I’ve been stung by them before. My mint sim max, only played it for just over a year, was worth £60 last month trade in and my pro showed me the valuation site they use. £60….. all because they’ve released three drivers since. Even last years stealth was worth only £140-180 trade in yet a tsi2 was going for £150-250 depending on condition. My six year old g25 irons were worth more when I changed last time! Could’ve got more on ebay but didn’t want the hassle, thankfully he gave me £90 as I’ve been a good customer.

After using a lot of Taylormade clubs for 20 years with my experiences of cracking drivers, soft covered golf balls, zips that come off their bags and flaking putters, I won’t be buying another Taylormade product when I get stung that badly on trade in.

I think this is dead on especially the MyReserve part. That’s where their opportunity is IMO and this is a solid intro. I know if there was an option for a Cam Smith version of that b13 in black I would be buying ASAP haha.
