What did u guys think of 22 wedge and difference from 22 to 24...22 is cheap now

I'm on my second set of 22's right now - The 24's to me looked to have a more rounded toe and a smaller profile to me but it could of been due to being instore with nothing to compare it with

Just received two new wedges: 54.10S and 60.12V, to replace my T22s in 54.08D and 58.08C. Something that no one, and I mean no one, mentioned online was that these wedges are easily at least two swingweight points heavier than the T22s. I've spent the last two weeks grinding the short game area at my local course, so I think I've regained some touch with the lob wedge, but I'm scared of how heavy the sand wedge feels in my hands now; the two or three swings I've taken with it on the course so far have been horribly out of sync and ended up chunky.

I don't think that this is necessarily a bad thing, but it's extremely important information to get out there. I wish I knew this before I pulled the trigger. The wedges themselves are gorgeous, and the feel is crisp and solid, but right now I have very little confidence swinging them since I'm used to much lighter wedges.

Driver: Mizuno ST-Z 220 8.5° - Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 6.5 / 60g

5w: Mizuno ST-Z 18° - Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 6.0 / 70g

4i-5i: Mizuno Pro 223 - Project X Rifle 6.5

6i-PW: Mizuno Pro 221 - Project X Rifle 6.5

50.07S: Mizuno T22 - Denim Copper - True Temper Dynamic Gold S400
54.10S: Mizuno T24 - Satin Chrome - True Temper Dynamic Gold S400
60.12V: Mizuno T24 - Denim Copper - True Temper Dynamic Gold S400

I just weighed my T22 54 and my T24 56 - they came out within 5 grams of each other.  Obviously there are variables that could account for this small discrepancy in overall weight (grip, shaft, etc) but we're not talking night and day numbers here.

First two rounds with the T24 Copper 54S and 58V. Outstanding wedges. Came from MG3 then SM9 to these. LOVE the copper and the feel. Not soft, but more dense maybe. Spin is very good as expected with new wedges. 54 was great in full swing and well as chipping. Predictable check and run like I wanted. 58V was also excellent even on full swings. Out of the fluffy sand the V grind was PERFECT! Was able to do everything I needed with the 58.

Can’t say enough great things about the MP 225 irons too. Just wow!! Crazy crazy good for me. Bag went 95% Mizuno overnight. Don’t sleep on the ST-Z 230 driver. Just straight all day.

Ok, after several rounds and short game practice, I think the V grind may not be for me. I love the D grind in the Vokey and might should have went that route. Big but here…. I play a different kind of game back here in the South vs AZ. I need more flops and higher soft shots that require manipulating the face. The V grind is not helping that.

Can’t decide D or maybe C. Any opinions?

If that weight is in the head, that is 2.5SW difference

I had 54 58 copper D grind on both - I thought they were horrible to be honest.

I just could not hit them clean ... Went back to Vokey SM 10 pretty much the same as 8 and 9 they are all excellent

Really. What do you think the issue was? What type of grass do you plan on?

I came from SM9 D’s and love the 54S, but a little struggle with the 58V.

I've read many extreme opinions on the v grind in both directions.  What is it that makes u struggle?

I feel like on either type of turf, wet sloppy or even the tie lies it just bounces. It’s ok out of the bunker but around the green just not making clean contact. Full swing it is money. Love it for an 85 yd shot.

Interesting.  Some people love it.  Not sure what to think lol.

Michigan grass.  Also had a round in Florida - I think maybe the leading edge was too low.  I was making low thin contact.  I'm not a very good wedge player either so thats that lol.

Hello. I am looking at these wedges and I have been playing a 54* / 58* combo for some time. I have found that I chip well with my 54* but using my 58* for anything other than bunker play has resulted in, "why did I do that???"

So I am going to try something different this time.  I am going with the 52.10 S and (here is where I need help) a 56.10 D. I will use the 52* 85% of the time on full shots, but the 56* will get all of the work around the green. I would have liked to have gone with the C grind, but I felt the bounce would be too low if I opened it openned up. Like a lot of people on here, I used to have a good short game, but I don't have the time to practice like I used to. So I am looking for something a bit more useful since it will get a lot of play.

Thanks for any advice you can throw my way -

You may not need to change anything.  I, like you, often ask myself why I used a 58 or 60 when almost every time I pull it bad things happen.  I use my 54 for almost everything and use it well.  I’ve essentially just relegated my lob wedge to nothing but certain bunker shots.  In reality I could just drop the club altogether and never miss it.

Well I want to get new wedges and try playing a 52*/56* combo. Can't say I have ever done that. I and just stuck on if I want the D or C grind. I know I do not want a low-bounce. That did not work in the past. And the V grind looks like it would get me into trouble as well.

I don’t want to oversimplify things too much, as turf conditions are a huge part of this equation, amongst other things, but..

What percentage of the time do you plan to open the face on the 56? If it’s ‘a lot’ or ‘all the time,’ you might want to consider less bounce.

If you plan to mostly play it square and/or deloft it a lot on your chips/pitches, you might want to consider more bounce.

Great username, BTW. You know, I haven't really thought about that. Thanks. That pretty much answered my question. I think the D-grind is what I will need, as I will play it square or deloft more than open it up.

One interesting observation I have seen with these wedges is that they are a good bit shorter in distance. I was kinda surprised..

Compared to which other wedges?

Callaway jaws raws. Exact same lofts and shafts. They launch about 3 degrees higher with the same spin and fall about 7 yards short. At least for me..

Any experience vs Vokeys? I’m thinking of switching from Vokey to something forged so I can bend it.

None. Sorry.. I have never been a vokey guy. Typically I stick to Cleveland’s last couple years I have branched out. The T24 are nice. I like them. But for me the launch and distance is an adjustment.
