Has your opinion on music on the course changed?

Music, four guys making 100 other people unhappy.

And the course will "allow" all sorts of stuff that only an a****** would do.

I can just picture a foursome bouncing around your club with music blaring pissing off 100 old curmudgeons!  😁

Or, more accurately “not prohibited” by the course.   Like a lot of things “not prohibited”….

I pulled up to my club on Sunday and they had a speaker near the 1st tee, blaring music as the guys tee'd off for one of the more prestigious club team events of the year.

Where I am from, it is allowed (and dare I say, encouraged!).

I know of a number of private courses that have added music to the range area. My friends club did it for a two month trial period and got overwhelmingly positive reviews.

My course got new carts this year, all with built in speakers. All you have to do is connect your phone and the music is all set. Or if you have a favorite music station the cart can stream that all on its own.

Like it or not, music on the course is here and growing day by day.

What's next, playing instruments as you walk up the fairway?

Bagpipes may be the answer….

“you don’t mind if I play music do you” ?

“ not as long as you’ll let me play my tunes on these”!

Nope ... Still hate it.

I hate it more now than when it first started, because now it's EVERYWHERE. I also am not shy about asking someone who I'm paired with to turn it down.

By the way, all you music on the course lovers, you don't care if I talk during your swing, do you? Or sing?

Lots of our courses have the same on carts, including the snootiest club in town.

Those that listen to music are probably more likely to not be so uptight, and not really care as much if someone is talking, or singing (I am one of them).  So yea, not going to bother me much, while your singing would probably be bad enough to turn the music up louder, and only one of us is going to be annoyed and walk off the course.

I never really wanted to have music on the course, but I have played in groups where one of the guys had music going, and I have to say I always enjoyed it (even country music!). Interestingly, every one of the music guys asked me if I minded, and the music volume was always moderate. I really didn't notice it much while playing, but the times we were sitting around waiting to play were made far more tolerable with the music.

Skimming through this thread, I am a little taken aback by how strident some of the responses here are. Sheesh. :classic_sad:

I am pretty sure I understand if and when it will stop being allowed. IMO, the answer is simple really. When it starts impacting their income... courses will no longer allow it. Trying to increase revenue is most probably why it has been allowed in the first place.  I have grown more used to it as long as it is not too loud and those playing try to show respect to the other players who may not want to hear it. Sadly, that is about 1 in 4 groups\people that I have encountered on the average.

This is likely accurate.  And now stop and think about it...will catering to the old guard, that likes peace and serenity, and to not be bothered, increase revenue?  Or will opening up golf to younger generations, that are used to their devices, and a more carefree attitude towards life, increase revenue?

Yeah, how dare we desire peace and serenity when you have the inalienable right to play your music as loudly as you deem “respectable”?  The gall of some people to try to legislate that right away from you!🙉

And if we do the same back to you why you’ll just turn yours louder….which if you stop to think about it…means you’re allowed to go beyond the respectable volume but no one else near you is allowed to do the same.

lmfao are you trying to say the younger generation are idiots by contrasting them to people who like "peace and serenity"?

I'm a terrible singer, so I'm finishing my round. Maybe next time you'll consider how much your music annoys others, but I won't hold my breath.

Of course not, because most people don't want to cause a problem with someone who is so inconsiderate. I'm done with that, however.

There are places like forests, and your home where peace and serenity are likely.  Golf courses are not one of them, anymore.  I hear bird spotting is a great hobby.

Matters not where…..apparently respectable is what has taken a back seat to do what you want and others be damned.
