Seems to me that he’s hitting most of the putts where he wants. I’d say more of a reading putts problem 🤷🏼‍♂️

Reads or speed tho? A touch more speed I think he makes a lot of putts today. Burned the edge low all day.

It is sad how bad he is at putting.. so good tee to green and giving so many shots away putting.

Bad at putting in what sense? He's been positive strokes gained in putting his last 8 tournaments. Only really bad at putting in comparison to how amazing his ballstriking is.

He's actually worse around the green lately, chipping and pitching, than he is at putting.

On the practice green? Because what you described above certainly didn't happen during the 3rd round. His one 3 putt was from 15 feet (10th hole) and he never came close to missing 4 five foot putts in a row today unless you think his Shotlink stats from today on pgatour.com are lying.

Almost looks less than that.

Late revival here, I know, but Im testing my eye, I see 1/2" to maybe zero on that driver, then 1.5" on 3W and 2" on 5W?

Hope I get some feedback on my by only eye knowledge

2” tipping brings the “Velocore” logo to practically the edge of a Taylormade adapter ferrule so that 5w isn’t tipped that much. Looks like 1.5” on the 5w and 1” on the 3w.

I appreciate it, that driver look like 1/2" or zero to you? I haven't been able to mess with expensive ventus shafts enough to be that dialed in.

This has changed my outlook on tipping a little, I've got some clubs with too much tipping and i've definitely started noticing it, I got misled somewhere that I needed more than necessary, I've got a fast swing but doesn't mean I need more than Rory...

I think you're right.  My TR Black is tipped 0.5 inches and it looks pretty close to his.  Thing is, the TR Blue and Black are extremely tip stiff already so I don't think it needs to be tipped much tbh.  How much is yours tipped, bro?

My 6TX is tipped 1” and I have a 7X going into a 3W that will be tipped slightly more. I play quite heavy heads which is the main reason for it.

what length and headweight are you playing?

I seem to hit better drives at D1 in a G425 LST w/ Ping tour black 65X 45.25” and midsize tour velvet (53g) and I came here because I have been hitting that better than a Ventus Black 7X that I now believe was messed up at the Tmag factory and got tipped 1.5” or maybe more, I switched it to a Ping adapter and velocore is pretty darn close to both ping and Tmag adapters and this thread has confirmed that to me. 7X and tipped that much at D1 (little heavier in the 430 D3 ish) has felt like rebar and I thought I was going crazy but now I know what’s happened.

IIRC my driver head is 212g and my 3w in 222g. They are playing 44.75” and 42.75” respectively at D5 and D4 with 60ish gram grips.

My driver head is around 10g heavier than yours which is where the tipping comes in. If you shortened yours 1/2” which would take it from D1 to C8 then added headweight until it got up to D4ish (about 10g) then you’d be in the realm where that much tipping feels more playable.

The 5w is tipped 2" (and 3w most likely 1.5"). The Velocore logo doesn't go all the way to the adapter, it leaves about a half-inch as seen in both Rory's club and in TXG's testing here:

Partially true, but they are using retail Taylormade adaptors here which are shorter than the tour issue versions seen on Rory's clubs and have slightly shorter ferrules as well. The retail adaptor + its ferrule is the length of the tour issue adaptor without a ferrule, so basically if you doubled the length of the ferrule pictured above you'd get the same coverage as the tour issue adaptor + ferrule.

Damn and I thought my driver heads were heavy playing at 201 grams.  However, I play 70+ gram shafts at 45 inches and my current gamer comes out to D4.  I just feel like a heavier driver overall both static and swing weight work better for my swing.  I need control over speed at this point.

Anyone hear the length of his 5 wood? I’m just looking around at tour pros and trying to get an idea, 42.5 that’s stock from most companies is much too long.
