Oh well.  At least I won another $200 for the 3rd Quarter since KC scored 10 to keep it SF 0, KC 3.  I have to drive myself into work tomorrow instead of using the company bus, so I'll make a point of not listening to the "home of the 49ers" radio station shows going both directions as I'm sure it'll be a lot of finger-pointing and all-around depressing.  Hehe.

No Big Fish had a 5 point lead on me going into today. We both had the Chiefs and won 25 points. The total points tiebreaker did not come into play. NJBF is the Playoffs Champ nsx. He beat me in the end by 5 points. Big Fish did real well in the Regular season too, so I am thinking when it is all tallied up tomorrow sometime that he will also be crowned the Combined Champ (reg season and Playoffs). Not too shabby for a guy in only his second year with us doing Picks.

You too nsx had a rather standout rookie year making picks sir. Congrats.

Man I was ready to drink some more and hang out tonight in the thread but nobody seems to be around after the game.  Maybe the fact that I didn't have my first drink until midway through the 3rd quarter has something to do with it.  Y'all a bunch of lushes. 😆

What a game! When SF didn’t score after the interception, I had a feeling it would haunt them.

 

Lots of fun this season. I probably would have tuned out the NFL if not for this thread. Thanks @touch and @NJBigFish22 for all of the effort you guys put into it. And congrats NJBF on the prognostication skills!

I knew it was only the 2 of you with a chance to win and that your only difference was your over vs. his under but I thought it was you that had the slight lead going in - couldn't (easily) find the pre-SB standings.

Good Morning.  That was a good game and we watched it all.  Fun game, lots of twists and turns.

 

Thank you to the statisticians and organizers of the season pick em thread.  I am pleased to say during the playoffs I made the statisticians job just a little easier with the minimal need for math over the last month or so.

 

Thanks again, and NJ might not have had a dog in the playoffs, but he showed the Big Apple sports coverage is second to none.  Congratulations!

... As the only true Uncle Rico on this thread, I tried to tell you guys forget the teams and never bet against Mahomes in the Playoffs. You don't bet against Jordan, Curry or Mahomes because with obvious talent but also an almost supernatural ability to will a win when it counts these three are tough to beat.

... And adding my appreciation to what others have said and in spite of the Mattel PIP DIP and ROLL thanks to Touch and Fish for putting this together and commandeering a rudderless ship. You guys rock!

I thought it was a really good Super Bowl. You can't beat OT.

 

Romo and Nance called an excellent game. Romo stayed away from being funny boy and Nance didn't say ridiculous stuff where you want to blueberry pie his face.

 

Most of the commercials were bad. There were some good ones though. My only laugh out loud moment was Aubrey Plaza saying "It's me, Americas sweetheart."

The Reese's, Dorito's and Dunkin Donuts ones were all funny. Affleck's Babe Ruth / Hit head on banner moment was perfect considering the backstory with Babe Ruth being sold to the dreaded Yankees cause Red Sox owner was in serious financial straits. 

 

The show TS crap in the third quarter was getting very annoying. In 4th a camera guy probably said hey there's some people in the stands, lets show some of them. I don't remember any fans being shown till the 4th, which is way past ridiculous. 

 

Am so glad of policy not showing the morons that run onto the field. 

 

I spent most of SB noshing on potato skins, mozzarella sticks, and jalapeno poppers. Pounded down a pint of B&J's Cherry Garcia in the 3rd and after all of that my waist was officially measured at a personal best of 78."

 

I didn't have any alcoholic beverages till well after the game was over. To much junk food so it was just water.

 

Another banner year of this thread has come and gone, to fast per usual. It's been a fun read and a great job by the head honchos. I'm ready for next year.

My understanding of the Super Bowls is the crowd is generally so disinterested as to not garner any media attention.  Unless of course you are some pop icon.  I didn't see a ton of football interest in Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, Jay-Z or Beyonce.

 

Years ago, and don't ask me how this came to pass, but I found myself at the table of a man who was on the Visa board of directors.  He had been to Olympics, SB's, just about every main sporting event known to man because Visa gets a large number of tickets.  I asked if he was going to the winter Olympics, a bucket list for most people, and he said he wasn't because he wasn't a great winter sports fan, and he didn't need to "be seen" anymore.  He noted, these events are about being seen, not the event.  Interesting take, and I will never forget that, hopefully I will see it in person for the World Cup next time its in the states.

... I had a laugh out loud at the Walken BMW commercial. I Imagine this actually happens to him in real life but I found the impersonations genuinely funny.

... As far as the celebrity cut aways, that ship sailed loooooong ago and 'Murica has made clear they would rather watch The Housewives of seemingly anywhere over intelligent shows that are cancelled before they make it through a single season. Repeating myself but my 33 yr old son summed it up "Dad, I know you think people are stupid but they are much dumber than you give them credit". So seeing a routine catch and TS overacting with over the top expressions like the biggest school donors daughter in a high school play while those around her simply cheer is what the average Make Football Great Again fan evidently wants to see. But still, pretty easy to ignore.

Agree with the TS overreaction X200. Pretty ridiculous. For SB I just looked down everytime she was shown.

I don’t understand why people get so hot about the camera cutting to her. Let’s say it happened 5x per quarter for 5 seconds each. I have no idea if this is right but 5x per quarter has to be more than what actually occurred. That is a whopping hundred seconds, or 1 minute and 40 seconds of Taylor Swift on camera. Certainly not worth getting your drawers twisted over.

TayTay is a celebrity.  Clearly she wears her heart on her sleeve, just listen to her music, there is no hiding in her music.  If anything they are all cathartic exercises others are able to relate to.

 

All this to say, I suspect she is learning about football as she goes.  She may overreact, but she is an effusive personality (if the music is to be believed).  Some folks are wired to be mellow, some aren't.  I would say she is in the second camp.  I will also say, her boyfriend played a great second half.  Didn't love the Andy Reid chestbump bit, but when it came down to it, he was a stud on the football field.

 

He is a horrible singer, and I suspect would look awful in gold lame (I don't know how to get the aigu accent above the "e").
