More like the failures were more obvious. The Ford Pinto didn't get into any more accidents than other cars, but literally blew up if it did. When the face is literally popping off the head people are going to talk about it.

People aren't losing their lives over this like a car.  Face cracking,  face falling out, either thing results in an unusable club.

I never really got on with TM drivers in the past and tended to play Titleist, Cobra and PING.

I have been very happy with the Stealth 2 this year. If the new club is slightly more forgiving then that would interest me.  I steered clear of the more forgiving Stealth 2 HD as I lost a little distance (and I need all the distance I can get being in my 50s!).

I look the look.  The sole plate effect makes it look a bit old school like the mini drivers have done recently.

You can't seriously think I was saying the two are equal can you? OBVIOUSLY the car one had much more serious ramifications. My point was the more visual the failure the more it sticks in the conscious.

One of the issues with the carbon face is that as soon as it starts to fail, it explodes.

I went through paradym 3d heads just as fast, but I never feared hitting it during a tournament like I did the stealth.

Thank goodness for your common sense. I’m a loyal TM driver user but it does not take an engineer to see the Stealth is a weak design and/ or manufacturing process.

I’m very interested in the fairways and fairways. A non-Plus model with adjustable sleeve would be awesome.

Tm fairway woods are upright and most of them closed unless you get a tour issue head or deloft it down

Interesting.

Callaway, we see your carbon chassis and we raise you a carbon chassis and motor all integrated.

It's hard to see in the pics we've seen so far (at least the ones I have seen).  But, it almost looks like either the seam is gone, or they made it gloss/gloss this time.  I am fine with either to be honest.  Gloss is boss.

I still feel like it won't be long before TM creates an all carbon head with steel infused into the carbon in certain locations to strengthen the carbon and add weight.

I don't know enough about carbon composites to even guess if something like that is possible.  But, it would be interesting if they could infuse titanium in small amounts around spots on the face to aid in energy transfer.  Maybe build the face ultra hot, then put some titanium in some of the layers just in the sweet spot to keep it from failing, bringing it back down to the legal limits but retaining some of that extra speed off center.

I still find myself drawn to the possibilities of the new material.  Well, not completely new.  But, new to modern engineering and computing.

From the toe side, it definitely looks like a different frame construction, likely without the contrasting topline. Here's the Stealth 2 for comparison.

I use a OG stealth HD, and love it, but I've always had a thought in the back of my mind, if im losing out any distance compared to the standard stealths.

Yeah, we chatted about this in the og stealth thread...

The aeronautics industry has long been doing carbon/metal composites. Allows light weight with strength. I think it's called carbon/steel laminate. Basically layering metal between carbon layers to give the carbon the durability needed to withstand forces applied during use.

For a driver, I could see a cast mold for the entire head that is like callaway's forged carbon but with steel infused in certain areas to beef up where impact forces would otherwise cause havoc. It would allow a lot less glued parts...which I assume would be better.

Something just hit me, and I hope it doesn't come to fruition. What if this is the tour only version without twist face? I could see TM making a version to appease their staffers and get more of them in new product while leaving us mortals with the twist face nonsense.
