I've only got a round or two in with the Qi10 core three wood but really enjoyed it this past weekend.  For me it's paired really well with the Gen4 Hzrdus Black.  And I didn't really like the Qi10 Tour 5-wood that I got at launch, so I'm very pleasantly surprised.  No problem for me that it's not adjustable, because it sits so square out of the box.  Might have to give the 7W a look as well - I'm really struggling to find something I love that fills the gap between my SIM 5-wood and my 5-iron.

Anyone with the 2024 790's experiencing fliers, i know they say that this was looked at and fixed and by the few reputable club reviews online that distance dispersion was better. Personal thoughts to those that have them? Before i decide to buy.

just hit the center of the face and no fliers. I think fliers are a misnomer. People say they hit a flier when in reality they hit the sweet spot and it just goes.

... Yup, I played the OG 790's and the next version,  Cobra Forged Tec's and currently play the '23 T200's and never experienced a flier, unless there was grass between the ball and face. I hit my 7 iron 165 and I could see someone hitting a hollow headed 7 iron 220 could have some issues with consistent distances, but of course "distance irons" are not designed for high swing players who don't need distance. 🤪  But at 71 the few extra yards keep my iron game at distances I have played my whole life.

To be fair, I think there are definitely fliers.  But, not like it's the old "hot spot" concept.  Strong lofts and low spin designs can have a guy living on razors edge of being too low spin.  Get a little grass between the ball an the face and definitely can see some silly distances.  

I had that issue with the Mavrik Pro irons a few years ago.  I have never hit so many ridiculously long iron shots before or since.  Missed soooo many greens long.  A little wet grass and I had no clue how far they were going to go.

To be honest if I hit it in the center every time I wouldn't be asking the question I am. Fliers as a misnomer is a bit farfetched, look at cool clubs data and see the distance dispersion per strike. Again yes that is out of the center and not but there are certain tests through them you can see patterns of terrible distance dispersion. The 2023 model to the 2024 model of the 790 is drastically different. 

I know first hand about "techy" irons and 30+ yard fliers out of the fairway from experience in pxg 0211 and mizuno hmp's which is why i sold them. Im no scratch golfer but id like to try like hell to be one and having a club that just launches a ball into the parking lot versus on the green is something i dont want but sadly have experienced.

I’ve had mine since feb and not seen one flier. Dispersion has been very good with them. I’m very happy.

Bit of an update on my Qi10 adventure….

 

The Core head with my Smoke Green just wasn’t working, I was either losing everything very high right or hitting heely pulls, I tried 3 shafts (Smoke Green 6.0, Ventus TR Red 6X and RDX Blue 6.5) and nothing felt right….so much so that my SIM2 Max had been back in the bag for the last 2 rounds.

 

Anyway…the itch still needed scratching so I sold the Qi10 and had a fresh fit and this time ended up in a Qi10 LS 10.5 AV Black 65X, the head shape is so much nicer and I was absolutely striping it during the fitting.
 

I took it out today for the first time today hitting 2 balls of every tee and absolutely love it. For the first time ever I feel like I can confidently aim left side of the fairway and hit towering cuts back to the centre rather than fight a draw/hook.

 

The LS is plenty forgiving (my initial worry) and adding loft kept the spin manageable….so far I am impressed!!

 

The only negative so far (and I had the same with the core head) is that the paint on the sole is not at all durable, the silver is already coming off near the back weight after 18 Holes and the sole scratches incredibly easily)

Agree on this - I sold my core head after 8 rounds and got accused of lying about the usage because the striping had worn off some on the sole.  I think just taking the headcover on and off probably wears on the pinstriping.

i hit the core head and didnt like it. hit the LS and have been in love since - i take care of my stuff and i have some wear on the bottom of mine quite a bit already - i echo your thoughts/observations completely.

I don't understand how 'wear' can happen to the bottom of a driver unless you're hitting it off the deck?

 

I've played my Q10 for at least 20 rounds/weekly practice and not a mark...

well mine occurs from tees coming across the bottom of the club - i have white tee marks (I only use white wood tees). also, wear can occur from lightly grazing the teeing ground as well if there is any sand or it's freshly mown - it happens. doesn't JUST happen from hitting off the deck.

Do you use a tee or are you using one of those magic levitating golf balls?

Thanks @gioguy21, I've always used plastic tees, so maybe that is an issue, but it shouldn't be...

I found plastic tees (white color) still did this. Very easy to scratch from normal use vs stealth 2 plus

Interesting, no issues with my Qi10 and my tees are white plastic, but I should note it's the 'Ruby' Designer Series version so not sure if that would make a difference (It shouldn't but who knows).

 

I haven't graduated as yet to the levitating 'air' tees that are coming on the market soon to @Frank Newport's point, but those should help I suppose 🙄...

Got to play a round with the Qi10 LS today. Initially had it at 9* w/ my Ventus Black. Didn’t really like the window and spin it was giving me, cranked it down to 8.25* (I believe) and it really came alive. Has a different feel and sound than the og Stealth + off the face. Distance definitely increased a few yards and wasn’t punished on misses. Heel shot was much less punished than the Stealth. 
 

Fun club. Not sure if it’s worth the upgrade premium for those on the fence but it seemed like a better package on course. The head shape is amazing also.

... Every driver series is player dependent of course, but the Qi10 has such radical swings from head to head. I started out with the Qi10 Max after a fitting with the TM rep and I hated it from the very first swing on the course that went left of left. To be fair I didn't like the look at address and like you, had a difficult time finding the center. I played 10 rounds and it never got any better. I took advantage of the 90 day playability warranty and exchanged it for the core Qi10 with low expectations and figured I would be selling it. But it was an immediate night and day difference. If I read someone else saying one head was one of the worst they ever played and the other was not one of, but the best driver they have ever played, I would be skeptical at a minimum. And it's not like any of the heads perform poorly as Nelly Korda has no problems hitting the Max, it just didn't work for me. But the core Qi10 is my holy grail.
