Ping i530 Leaked Photo

Agreed. It showed up in the cool clubs robot testing as well. The distance drop off on low strikes with the i525 were pretty brutal.

I think Ping will admit Micromax grooves were a swing and a miss in the i59. Looks like they're staying in the i530.

These look great! I'm excited to see the reviews, though I know we're a few months away. I'm hoping for i525 performance with feel closer to i230 from these. I could definitely see replacing my i230 5 iron with an i530 bent to 25 degrees. (I love my i230s but the GolfWRXer in me has been itching to try something different, so... I could also see doing a whole set.)

With the Mizuno Pro 245s out now, it's kind of nice to have a sense of what Ping has coming in that space.

I agree, the i525 looked great and performed really good, however the sound and feel were just awful and something I couldn’t overcome to put them in the bag.

I'm the king of low strikes and so far nothing beats pxg in this dept, based on what I've tried... Anyone know of other great low strike irons?

Also loved the look of the i525 but sound/feel was not the improvement I was looking for compared to previous generation i500. With most OEM's putting something inside their hollow body irons to improve the feel I'm not sure why Ping isn't exploring that option. It's a shame cause they look amazing. I will still demo the i530's to see if they made any advances in sound/feel department. Maybe they'll surprise me.

My miss is low as well.  I ended up putting the callaway Paradym in play last year.  Wasn’t fond of the back playing but for me was the most forgiving for that miss.

Don’t see how it’s possible for them to sound and feel worse. i525 looked and performed great, but felt and sounded awful.

I will be looking for a slightly used set of i525’s when these launch, assuming these will be nosebleed territory $$$ and the 525 will be closer to some iteration of “more affordable”.  I don’t want to hit a ball with a pillow and I have yet to have a bad shot saved by a club’s sound, feel, thin top line, no offset ect.  (Warning, long-winded gripe ahead) IMO Ping needs to remember the massive range of golfers who used to be the target (and maybe the 500 line is as close to what they used to focus on as we will get but still too “playery”), making mid sized clubs that everyone can hit and get their best from, irons that could capture a major to the weekend warrior and everyone in between,  where wasted weight on “sound and feel” took a back seat to tech and performance, that was just what Ping’s sounded like and I loved it.  Let’s all remember, Ping Eye 2’s, Zing’s, ISI’s ect were in tour pro bags, they were clicky, had a thick top line, had some offset but not too much, true lofts ect.  Now, the lineup is incredibly heavy on the .5% of players with single digit handicaps.  How many butter knife sets are required for that group to choose from and I still see complaining on the forum on do I see a micro offset and too thick of a top line for me….not “playery” enough?  Pros don’t even have these complaints about these irons.  Currently playing copper ISI’s (yes, believe it), with a 2 iron that is essentially my driving iron from the tee.  Ive been waiting for a worthy update but the search started when the G came in and went nutty,  I’m a mid handicapper and can easily play this set of midsized ISI irons, I imagine they are a close size match to the current 525, ISI possibly a fraction longer in length, bigger top line and certainly bigger than i230.  This is the territory Ping should focus on, but instead we have i59, i230, Blueprint T, Blueprint S, and then a huge jump in size, offset, lofting, crazy looks to g430 and a forgotten super game improvement 700 line.  There needs to be a shift to clubs back between G and i, which made me a Ping fan from day 1.  There are far too many options (Ping’s language) for the “better player” and not nearly enough for everyone else or a broad range, large net iron.  I probably stand alone in saying, the newest clubs look great but at a cost of abandoning mid handicap golfers in choice and price.  I don’t want the loft bunched G430 or a three year old G710, and certainly not a 230 dollar an iron blueprint.  Bring out a Eye 3, mid sized iron, timeless looks with no weird plastic craters and hexagons, some offset but not extreme, good and classic loft separation and most importantly, I don’t care if hitting metal sounds like…hitting metal if the forgiveness and performance are there.  Build clubs for us, not satiating YouTube reviewers.

Well said

yep.  i'm looking forward to the release of the 530s so i can grab some 525s at a deep discount.  I don't really care how irons feel.

Titleist is always good on low strikes. Callaway as well. They’ve both been putting out irons with very low VCOG for years now.
