So weird. Usually, a new release would be on their home page. I'm looking forward to trying them, but I get the sense they have been left behind by the Blueprints, s159's, and PLD's.

I really dont think these will do well. The market would be a decent ball striker that doesn't care about feel and wants to hit a 7 iron instead of a 6 from 190.

I think these will be great for people who like players distance, but I'm very interested to see how they work with the lofts being so strong. 

 

I do play the i525s and I have my 6i 2* strong and my 7i 1* strong and the long irons are just rockets (but I like that so I skip the 5i and go 4i so I can play 62*, but I don't really see any insane distances on my shorter irons.

I’d be more interested in power spec to get some of the bounce out but the power spec 7 iron is 27.5 degrees! Doubt they can generate much spin in power spec.

If you hit a “traditional” 6 iron 190, you don’t need these…

It's been a bit confusing to me with the i5xx vs. i2xx and which is intended to be more "forgiving" or if they are the same. 

 

I've heard it every which way.  I also wonder if the i530 is intended to be blendable with the 430's and 730's.  It doesn't really blend with the 200's

I really wanted to like these because of the look. That's why i am confused by them. They are smallish, clean, not a lot of offset. Maybe there are players out there that hit a 7 iron 125 that want something that doesn't look forgiving but it would seem to me to be a rarity.

These will be dream for the mid and below swing speed golfer that has good face and path but doesn’t generate a ton of shaft lean at impact

Boy I watched most of that and thats the same thing that I've seen from the i525s, just wildly forgiving and pretty long.  Will want to give these a whirl to see if they can knock the 525s out.

 

People just need to look at the numbers and not listen (hopefully they do sound/feel better, honestly my only complaint with the 525s and it immediately doesn't matter to me when I skank one and I still hit a green).

Not gonna lie, that is closer to me than I want it to be.

 

Very interested in trying these, as the look like less offset than the PXG's. Just hope they have improved the feel. Played i500 for a quick moment and they felt terrible.

Maybe we’re picturing something in between. If someone is only averaging 125 with a 7, I doubt these would be a good option bc they probably can’t generate enough speed to make these work. I envision these are for someone with a 7 iron swing speed between 75-80 who’s looking to get their 7 iron to somewhere around 160 carry with stopping power. I could be off base, here.

Unfortunately seems like they did nothing to address sound or feel unfortunately. I was hoping these would perform like the i525 but not sound like you were hitting a rock and the face was cracked. Disappointed

Im a little faster than that but not much. If they felt better i would game them. Maybe throw in some kusions in a Nippon 115 and they might work! With retro specs they kind of line up with my wedges now. I use 48/53/58

I use these irons because I just don't do well with hybrids/woods.  No need for them when you can launch a 4i so high and have it stop on the green, from 200yds. 

 

Lets me add in a scoring wedge (which I prefer to be more blade like).  What I've been looking at is how to blend this with BPS, would require power spec, or a duplicate iron (6 or 5) and remove that 48*wedge in between.  

 

It's all about what you need and what fits, being able to play distance/forgiving irons that aren't shovels appeals to lots of golfers, especially us middle agers who no longer get the peak height and spin they used to, but still want those long irons.

There is a polymer layer behind the face to do exactly that. Haven't hit them so unsure if it works, but in theory they will feel and sound better.

Demoed 7 iron the other day. They have significant ballspeed gains over i230. They are not really designed for or to compete with the i230 IMO. 

 

I am approaching 60 and am still a low hcp good ball striker. These would appeal to me due to the good looks and getting back any distance I have lost. The only negative would be feel/sound. Haven't tried outdoors, but indoors they still have the same sound as i525. Maybe slightly quieter. If sound/feel is your top priority try mizuno pro 245 or t200.

 

They launched high for me with less spin than i230, but I think there would be plenty of stopping power.

 

Giving my power spec'd i230 one last shot this weekend. Thinking I will be making the change to these.

The i525 had polymer behind the face as well, but are very loud, clicky, and harsh feel. No doubt they perform great. I had a set of i525 but just couldn’t get over the sound and feel.

To me, a low ball hitter, the thought of knowing my 7 iron had just 29 degrees would be more intimating than using a more lofted iron with less forgiveness. I have never seen a set of I500 or I525 in a bag on my travels.
