Ping i530 Leaked Photo

Got a chance to see the i530's today. Someone here had said they remind him of a hybrid, I agree.  I'm sticking with the. i525's, wider sole and higher toe, and a lot less money. But the G730's could be my wife's next iron.

got my wife a set of Ping Gle3's last summer for a really good price (driver, FW, hybrid and irons), she loves them. Although, the one thing I noticed is the faces are really "shallow"? as in, top to bottom, they seem really small.

I'm a Ping guy but feel these take a step back in the looks department. The i500 is the best looking iron Ping has ever made (Blueprint T is a close second). I wish they were able to make performance improvements while retaining those looks.

New matchup...

I guessed the outcome before I watched  the video. I like his reviews but I have yet to see a review where a Mizuno club lost. According to his reviews, there are no clubs made better than a Mizuno. He lost me when he said the 223 was more forgiving than the I230. I played the 223’s before moving to the I230’s and there is no way that was even close to my experience.

For those with Cobra FT clubs 2 years ago....

Mine are the Forged Tec X, more higher launching and little more offset than the regular Forged Tec.

Personally with my TGI 85s in the FTX, its too high launching now since I'm working on my swing

Yeah, the Mizuno bags, hat and clothing are a clue that he might not be the most objective when it comes to testing their clubs.

Yea…..he’s dealing from a stacked deck.

That being said, has anyone here compared the i530 and the 245? Would love to hear some feedback!

I will be as soon as my i530’s arrive.  I don’t find the 245’s all that forgiving coming from i525’s.  If the i530’s are similar with better feel and sound they’ll probably force the 245’s up onto the lefty BST.

I have tested them both. Did an exploratory fitting last weekend.

They produce similar high ball flight,  but the i530 is obviously longer with the 29 degree 7 iron.

I’m sure others may disagree but I thought the i530 felt and sound better than the 245. Of the Mizunos I tried, I liked the 923 forged and the 243 better.

the i530 have a kind of different look at address than other pings. Something about how the blade looks moving toward the hosel that seems like less offset? Almost like a driving iron. Hard to explain, but you will notice when you hit them.

TLDR: 245 looks great. Everything else was better with the i530, but nothing at all wrong with 245 performance, just nothing special. (For me.)

YMMV as always.

I have a set of stock 245’s with Dynamic Gold Mid  R300. I have about 5 rounds with them, they are great looking, awesome iron. However, if someone were to ask me about their forgiveness level, I would say they are surprisingly less forgiving then I thought they would be. Definitely less forgiving than the 770’s they replaced.

The other day in GG I hit a 530 7 iron with the exact Mid R300 shaft. I thought the feel was on par to the 245, but it did seem more forgiving.  Not sure this helps as far as a comprehensive comparison, just my mid handicap opinion.

I have just a limited experience with the I530 and 245 from our fitting carts.  But that small sample is similar to some postw above about the 530 being more forgiving and feeling just as good.

I’ll try and get a more extensive seasion with them on the LM.

I ordered a set of i530s on Friday, plus three s159 wedges. Was fitted at Club Champion into i525s, but the exotic shaft prices were eye watering. So went to Ping for a fitting, and they had just received the i530 heads.

i530 definitely sounds better than i525.

As a good ball striker with a slower swing speed, both irons worked really well for me.

Will get them in a few weeks, and will give a longer review….

What shaft did you go with?  I found a set of i525's on the Bay for a great price with only a few irons ever hit, with the shaft I used. But I ordered a UW yesterday though Mortons Golf to finish the set.

This is my first time pre ordering un-released clubs.  How does the shipping usually work?  Will they ship out on the 4th or will people start getting them delivered on the 4th?  Bought mine through 2nd Swing's website, FWIW.

Unfortunately, seems every new Ping release, they fall behind in fulfilling orders. hoping that's not the case this time.

2nd Swing should be able to login to Ping portal and see the status, e.g. in production, out of stock, waiting on head, shaft, etc....

I noticed as well, lol.

I just ordered G430 5,6,7,8 irons to get a little more forgiveness. I was on the fence between ordering a full set of i530 or g430 long irons.
