LAB DF3 Order is in!

I've always heard 2-3 inches. I usually play 35" so I went with 37" on the CB. I have a different CB putter I set up myself at 36.5" that I like but went a little longer on the new one.

Ordered a custom DF3 the first day it was available for pre-order and just got a note that it is in production. Woohoo.

This might depend on eye dominance. I am left-eye dominant and right-handed. A single line makes me aim more right. The longer the line the more loft I add and right I aim. Two lines at the top of the head helps square me more, but I can get away with no lines or a dot.

I ordered mine a couple days after they went live….hoping to get that email soon! I went 37” CB heavy head and 71 degree lie angle. I used a stock link at 35”/69 lie and I always found myself with the toe falling down when I found my comfy setup. Hoping the slightly upright lie angle allows me to get my eyes over the ball better and sole nice and flat

I got the counterbalance version so the only option was the 17" Superstroke 3.0 or the 17" Garsen Quad Tour. I went Garsen because I really don't like the texture of SS grips and I had a Quad for a bit and like the shape. I'm sure that doesn't help you much but thought I'd chime in anyway, lol.

Yeah on the other side of the coin I went with the Superstroke as I’ve demoed it on other cb putters like the jailbird, spider, and even my link lol. It feels pretty darn good to me but you can’t go wrong with either I’m sure. It’s not an official grip but if you don’t like what you get there is the Winn 15 inch grip which is 30 grams heavier which will affect swingweight but it’s mostly rubber and also feels good. That’s the hovland grip.

Hi all - just pulled the trigger but trying to decide if the tpt shaft is worth double the cost - getting a standard build so it would be cost of custom plus shaft…am a mediocre putter at best - Would it make a greater difference for better putters. 
 

also going with black- worry about the other colors fading - open to thoughts for folks that had Df2 in other colors.

January 20 order here (lefty 71 34” TPT), just got the “in production” email. Not bad!
 

Also, the turnaround on my video fitting was about 24 hours and gave me results I wasn’t expecting (but think are probably right).

And they were cool with me combining 2 alignment marks (#1+6).

How are we thinking the green finish is going to contrast with the grass? I think it looks pretty sharp, but am a little hesitant.

I ended up ordering in black but seriously considered green thinking that green against green would accentuate the brain's perception of the alignment line (which might help me with my alignment issues).  Even if a player wanted no alignment lines or marks on the head, green against green might help the brain stay more focused ... ?

Well I went to the Lab Golf website to order. It doesn't look like they are offering the "expedited shipping" anymore. When you get to that box the only option is "standard shipping"

Press Pistol is my current favorite grip. It's what I ordered for my DF3 that's in production. It's really comfortable in my hands, stable without being too bulky.

Guess I’m in the minority based on the comments, but my biggest issue with my DF 2.1 is the sound (which translates to feel?). So much so that I had to swap the Accra shaft out for the standard steel. The LAB guys were GREAT and helped me figure it out.  Turns out the Accra makes an even more “tingy” sound than the stock steel shaft (which is what all my testing was done with in PGASS - maybe their “rock” demo golf balls also contributed?)

 

This is coming from someone who has had a strong preference for a long period of time for milled / non-insert putters. 
 

Honestly at this point I think it’s in my head so much that on course performance with DF2.1 is suffering big time… and when that happens we all know the next thing that happens is a putter gets benched. 

 

I can’t wait for some online reviews of the DF3 + for all you guys to start getting yours in hand so I can get feedback on how it SOUNDS!

 

If it’s significantly better and closer to “milled” sound, I will spend whatever it takes to improve my putting 🙂

Well, I succumbed to the hype and put in a DF3 order.  

I’ve been all in on LAB for about a year starting with a DF2.1 and then moving on to a Link for about the last 4 months.

 

In theory the DF3 is everything I wanted the DF2.1 to be, but we’ll see when I get it in March

Did you notice any difference in performance when you switched out the Accra for the steel? I’m considering the steel this go around. I have an Accra in the Max and don’t feel it added anything performance-wise.

I asked them about this. They are not offering expedited build yet on the on the df3 because they are still fine tuning the production process and they have a ton of orders they need to fulfill.

I also saw LAB post this about turn around time on an Ad on facebook. Looks like the 5-6 weeks might be an over estimate and reality might be closer to 3-4 weeks.

This is a big brain move…asking them to combine alignment aids. Now I’m scrambling to think if there’s something that would go well with my #23 😅 I ordered on the 23rd so if the above poster is any indication I’m on the clock

That would be excellent news! I knew 5-6 before I ordered so that's what I was mentally prepared for but the sooner the better!
