LAB DF3 Order is in!

This is a great write up. Man I’m soooo close to pulling that trigger on the TPT.

Just got my DF3 on Thursday after ordering on 1/18. Got it with the same specs as my 2.1 (73 lie, 34.5”, same swing weight, Accra shaft). Ultimately, it seems a lot like the DF2.1 except clearly smaller. As others have mentioned, the sound is miles better. Just a satisfying thump and not a tingy metallic reverberation of the DF2.1. Only got to roll it inside on the putting mat and on the carpet. I don’t know if others are experiencing this but it definitely feels like the ball doesn’t come off the face as hot as the DF2.1 - which I think is a good thing. Seems like hitting it with the same effort with the DF3 goes shorter and not due to a mis-hit. I think ultimately that will make speed control a little easier. All in all I think LAB knocked it out of the park. I’m even considering ordering a DF3 broom in March when it comes out.

Interesting you’re finding it slower. I think I read an interview with Sam saying that they intended on making the face a little faster than the DF2.1. Good to hear about the sound.

I have rolled both and like both. That said, I believe the ball comes off the DF3 face a little faster. I would also say that the sound of the DF3 is more muted.

How to keep an idiot in suspense. Send an email on Monday 2/12 that my putter is in production and have no update though the weekend. Best case, they ship it on Monday. Add that to the pitiful FedEx delivery time and I’ll be lucky to have my putter by St.Paddy’s day. It took FedEx 28 days to deliver my last putter with no weather delays.

Yeah, I heard that same one where he said “faster ball speeds”. That sounded odd and thought maybe he misspoke. I’ll have to get it out on the course and see but for now it seems like I need to give the DF3 a little more juice for it to go the same distance. I think they will be a good thing ultimately though. I could also just be imagining things.

Has anyone ordered the blue? 
 

I have a stupid question / fear. I ordered the platinum but in this pics I saw from instagram the alignment seems super grainy from it being lazer etched(see below)

 

 

. And then from y’all’s pics with the orange, green and black the alignment is a lot more solid white. I might just be in my head but wanted some feedback.

I looked at my platinum DF3 and the white line is a little grainy if you look closely. From the putting stance it looks fine. The top of the DF3 is "grainy" too.

You may call a few PGATSS to see if they could ship one to you. Mine in Texas has some still.

My southwest FL PGATSS doesn’t have them yet. I just went and checked yesterday

Mine arrived; ordered on Jan 18. BGT One shaft, 32.5” long, 71 degrees, heavier head. It is definitely a more thunky sound, and weighting more familiar to me from my Scotty days. Otherwise, just as stable as my DF2.1. I think I will miss the line on my grip that I used to line up with the face line on my putter, though.

Here it is next to an older Spider Rossa. They are pretty similar in size as you can see. If anything, the DF3 appears smaller to my eyes because of the contours.

 

Can confirm it fits in my bag so, so, so much better.

Ha okay. Black head, sight line G, length 34.5, lie 67*, Pistol II, and Accra Black. Debated on the TPT but then remembered I still had a fitting for irons and woods. So had to compromise.

Thanks for the grid photos.

The 2.1 fits in a 5 inch square and the 3 fits in a 4.5 inch square.  Not a huge difference on paper but the narrower face makes a big difference visually.

 

 I’m a little surprised that the shaft locations are the same but the degrees of lean are different on the stock grips.  (3° vs 2°, correct?)  Do the shafts lean at different angles?

Unfortunately, I am personally incapable of discerning a one degree difference in shaft lean visually and do not have the equipment to measure. 

 

I can say, I feel as though the putter wants me to line up the front edge of the grip with the face. I used the vertical line in my DF2.1 grip before. So if I had to guess, I'd say there is slightly less lean.

Ordered February 1st. Got the in production email on February 9th. I got the completion email and the shipping email today. 

Hopefully I have it in hands in a few days as I am not too far down the road from their production facilities.
