Callaway AI Smoke Triple Diamond MAX?

I'm curious what range of head weight you guys seeing on the Triple Diamond Max?  Weighed mine at 194g which feels like a feather coming from Ping

Ping just about always comes in heavy.

Pings are heavy but keep in mind that Callaway adapters are 3-4 grams heavier than most adapters. Add that to the head weight and you'll be in the more normal head weight range. My Titleist is 196-198 and TM are in the same range.

I'm seeing my TD and TD Max and how they sit.  The TD Max is not as open as the TD, but it is open, more open than any other retail smoke head outside the TD, more open than the Rogue LS, etc.  It's a shallower, larger footprint head that sits more open than all recent Callaway retail heads outside of their regular TD line.  The face does not close, even at the +2 setting on the hosel.  It's perfect, for ME.

Playing two rounds over weekend with mine. We will see if it can beat out TSR3. Biggest thing with my TSR3, my left miss is not as bad if there is even a miss left with it.

Toe misses are extremely forgiving.  My miss is on the toe, creating a hook that starts left of target and goes further left.  I haven't seen that with this head, in fact, I'm comfortable enough with it that I've turned it up a degree to close the head a bit and haven't seen the nasty hook on the range or the course.  Turned down a degree to open the head even further, paired with the right shaft, I don't see how this head would have any left in it.

The Toe misses are so good, I hit one off the toe on our first hole Wednesday and kind of dropped my head thinking I was going to be 30 yards behind the other guys.  I got out there and I was 20 yards past two of them and only about 15 yards behind the longest one.  And I'm normally 20 to 25 yards behind him.   I aske dhim if he mishit his drive, and he said...Nope!   

 

This head is so forgiving and fast.

Well I went to Golf Galaxy and got $500 for my G430 10K and then traded in an old fairway as well. Ordered one from them for $60 after taxes both ways. Looking forward to giving it a go.

Finally fit outside today for AI Smoke triple diamond .. not max, no heads sadly

 

it was longer than my 400lst .. but some changes, incrementally, got my carry to high 260’s

one of my driver shafts, ventus black 5x, instead of the stock Denali 60 or Mitsubishi 65

loft up to 11.5*

6g front weight vs the stock 2g, spin dropped 500 rpm … and felt way WAY better

 

so at the end I was 2200 spin, 18 launch, plus 3.3 AoA, swinging 106-107 fwiw, ideal unicorn per the fitter

Just finished another range session with the TD M and its firmly in the bag. Not going to replace it with the regular max model and not going back to the Paradym. This thing is just crazy long and the ball flight is perfect for me. Nice high launch low spin bombs, slight draw to slight fade but either will work for me as long as it's down the middle.

They should be, just mention it to the rep and they should know. I was at both GG and PGA Superstore yesterday and they were both doing the deal still. The trade-in value were almost identical at both store.

You should run away and never do business again with any retailer not honoring the 2x trade promo. Think anyone with an account through Calllaway are supposed to honor Callaway’s promotions.

 

I was going to do at a local store here. They said they would honor the 2x but would not do the 15% veterans/military/first responder discount on top. They said it would kill their profit margins. I said ‘thank you, I’ll just order online’. Was challenged Callaway probably wouldn’t do it either, so I whipped out my phone, ordered online on the spot with all my bonus trade ins and including military discount, showed him and politely said ‘Good day sir’ and walked away.

Yeah, but the caveat is they’ll only 2x for one thing. So I didn’t get 2x for my fairway I traded, just the driver.

I traded in putter, wood, hybrid and driver and it was all 2x. They are using the Callaway promotion so not sure if the rep didn’t know.
 

The GG and PGA rep all pulled out a sheet to double check when I was in the store.

The GG sheet said it only applied to 1 club at the store I was at. I didn't care much since it was close to even anyway. Edwin Watts told me they wouldn't give me excellent condition on my driver because it was "too much with the 2x". I was going to buy it from them because they actually had one in stock.

Makes sense thanks. My GG doesn’t have them in store, so it would be shipped. Any idea what the turn around is on that?

In stock stuff usually ships the same day, but sometimes takes a day or two.

Can anyone compare this Max TD to a Srixon ZX5 LS? They are similar max forgiveness low spin heads, and it could be an awesome battle.

Could probably throw the PXG driver in the mix too.  But I have seen some mixed reviews on those.  And that is the primary reason I chose Callaway.

I had a standard Black Ops for a bit, but it was too heavy, and ball speeds were slow. In my hands, it played very similar to a Ping driver—a well-rounded, consistent performer but lacked the top end performance of the Cally.
