Upgrade to T100s recommendations

Hey everyone! 
 

I’m looking to upgrade from my T100s. Looking for something with good turf interaction and allow some workability when needed. 

 

I’m currently playing them with Project X 6.5 shafts. I like the size of the irons but like a lot of the WRXers here, looking for something to change it up and going to sell these to a buddy. 
 

Any recommendations on what to look at?

Probably have to specify between T100 and T100-S, as well as which iteration. The 2019 version was a bit different than 2021.

Sorry about that. They are the T100-S 2021

You are going to get all kinds of opinions on which clubs offer the best turf interaction, but the reality is that what is best for me or anyone else isn't necessarily the best for you.  For example, the most common answer here is Srixon because they have a V-Sole, but it actually works against me because I am flat and it causes me not to strike the center of the face as consistently.  The only way to know the answer to your question for sure is to go to a VERY VERY experienced fitter that has all brands and does the fittings outdoors.  Not only outdoors, but on turf conditions similar to what you play on most.

 

Personally, I find most Mizuno's to be extremely good fits for me when it comes to turf interaction.  I am gaming a set of TM P760's turned 2 degrees strong and they also have been a great fit.  Most TM irons have not been good for me so this was a surprise.  Anything will "feel" better than what you have now.  As good as the newer T100 and T150 is, the T100s was hard as a rock and clicky. No one wants to hear this, but go find a really really good fitter, it is well worth the price.

Consider the Ping Blueprint S, Cobra CB or Wilson CB. They all look very solid. 

I've hit the Blueprint S in simulator bays and loved them (compared to the T150).

Basically, there are three types of golfers, diggers, sweepers and scrapers like me.  Most people are uninformed when it comes to assessing the sole of an iron for turf interaction but plenty of people opine.

 

I like minimal bounce, minimal camber and prefer a sharper leading edge because I scrape turf to the roots, no deeper except with short irons.  I am familiar with T100S as I bought a set in 2022; very similar to T150 which, like the new T100, has the progressive bounce, flattish sole and that the leading edge doesn't need to be shaved to travel under the ball.

I am in exactly the same boat as the OP.  Love these Irons, but have worn them out.  Nothing I have tried is any better.  I found that most heads perform pretty much the same for me and none of the new releases did anything different to improve my dispersion or distance.  My options were to get a new set of T100-S heads from somewhere, but I have gone with T150's.  They are almost identical in performance for me, but like the idea of being slightly more forgiving than T100-S.  We shall see.

Agreed. The spectrum of answers to the question of "good turf interaction and workability" is going to span basically the same range as just demoing things and answer that for yourself.

Coming from the T100S and loved them got fit for the T150 haven’t got them in hand yet. I will not have any outdoor experience yet and won’t for some time. Need spring to come asap

I combo’d a set of new T100 (pw-7)& T150(6-4). Had the T100 bent a deg strong. So far they loon badass in the bag, but haven’t actually played em. Turf interaction is great inside on the monitor.

I adore my '21 T100s irons, but I know I'm unfortunately on my last season with them.  Been sort of preparing for this so I've tried a few new models, most in-depth with the new Blueprints.  It was no comparison, the T100s were still better in every category.  I guess it will likely be the T150 for me.

Same. My '21 T100 irons are the best set I've played. But just built a split set of T100/T150 with soft-stepped X100 shafts. Really hope they measure up, but I'm keeping my '21 T100 irons on stand-by just in case. Not selling until I've done some extensive testing with the new lineup.
