No, still working. Just fortunate to have.a job where golf is part of the job. If not, I can handle my business from 4:00AM to around noon or a little after and play 'til dark.

Yessir.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

Have the ZX7'S in play,  some of the best  irons I have had.

Great performers. Your best bet, is to try them both at a demo.

Keep in mind, that Ping has stepped up their game on forged equipment.

I’ve been a srixon zx7 user on and off for the past few years, I’m on my 3rd set of zx7 mk ii’s and am really thinking about ordering a set of blueprint s, I work in a golf shop so I have easy access to all the irons. My issue with the zx7 has always been the lack of spin they produce. And I’m on the fence on whether or not I like the V-sole. I’ve yet to hit the blueprint s and zx7 head to head on a sim, but have a sim in my garage and my avg 7 iron spin numbers hover right around 5400 with around 90-93 mph swing speed. If I hit the blueprint s and am able to see 6k and above without sacrificing anything I will pull the trigger. 🤞

What’s the land angle of your zx7? That’s plenty of spin if you hit it high enough

See I view 5400 as too low spin already.  You don't have your grooves perfectly clean, or get a little grass or water from dew and you are getting the shot that flies the green.  90% of the people I play with do not clean their grooves.

Even if you do clean your grooves I view 5400 as too low for a 7 iron unless all you ever play are wet soft bent grass greens, even then if you get a flier and it drops 600-100, you are boned.

I played the ZX7 and ZX5 in 5 iron.  I could not play the left dash or z star xv golf balls I like with my driver with them, but the Z Star Diamond worked great, but not as good for the driver.  I ended up in the Cobra Tours and the Blueprint S were second place.  ZX7's were third for me.  I typically play the Z Star XV.

I saw an increase with the BPS over my ZX7's of about 450 RPM with the same shaft.  The Cobra Tours were about the same maybe a tad more.  The difference in Cobra Tours and BPS were the Tours worked better on toe side misses than the BPS, which is where I miss.

That's my problem with the zx7. I'm switching to ProV1x to try and boost the height/spin a bit, get it up to 6,000 at least. I'll drop a few yards but better than having a low-spin problem. I've been playing the OG ZX7 for a bit, and I do like the sole, but not as much as the really thin blade-like ones. I'll be switching irons at some point in the next year or two, will be tough to find something I like to hit as well as the ZX7, while managing spin and forgiveness and of course the great feel.

I am in a set of zx7mk2/zforgedmk2 for the first time this year. Planing on playing the new tp5x

I have some swing speed and can get the ball up so hoping they are ok. I have a 49 degree land angle with the 5 iron so. Should be alright.

Will watch for the rough fliers

TP5X is a LOW spin ball, so keep your eye out, it is higher spin than the regular TP5, but still on the low side.  I tested them at the Kingdom at Reynolds a few weeks back.  The regular TP5 was too low for me it was so low on the irons.  The tour response I hit was stupid low spin and unplayable for me.

When I saw low or unplayable for me, I mean that I like at least 6500 on 7 irons and my descent angle around 50*.  Anything lower than that and the ball goes too far, and I am guessing on shots from the rough.  I got around 6200 with the X, 5900 with the regular and 56-5500 with the response.  Now on courses that are not my home track I could play the X fine, but the greens at my home track are SUPER firm.  I don't remember my descent angles, but I refuse the rely on Descent to stop my ball and have my spin too low where fliers or jumpers are just crazy long.

I have toyed around with playing a less spinny ball when traveling to courses with softer greens on trips or playing a buddies track, but that's just another number I would have to try and keep track of for carry distances.

On fun days when I want amazing looking clubs, I'll just put my MP-33's back in the bag.  If I want amazing consistency and forgiveness, especially on those days with little or no warm up time, the very nice looking ZX-5/ZX-7 combo set will be in the bag.

Have you tried the BPS? Generally curious if you have a head to head comparison.

I've owned the Z85 and Zx7 irons from srixon and am a big fan of the v sole, but there is no doubt the turf interaction of the BPS is far superior for myself. Having played several rounds with the BPS irons I find out of thick rough I don't catch the ball high on the face like I did with the srixons and on softer conditions I don't dig as much. The v sole has a high actual bounce, but the effective bounce is still relatively low. Having more of the sole to work with on the BPS has made the sole not dig as much. On firmer days I get through the turf better because the lead edge is not off the ground with the BPS as much as it is with the zx7's. So the leading edge now has a better chance of getting into the turf.

Distance control from the rough overall is better, I'm contributing that to a higher spin rate. That said the srixons are the better feeling club, there's something about that soft 1020 hit that's hard to beat.

BPS are in the bag, and will be for a long while I think. Or until this fall when all the new clubs come out LOL.

Zx7s much easier to hit.  Compare these more to an i210/i230.

BPs, love everything about them and wish I had the game for them.  Definitely need to be a good ball striker.

Agree with this. Recently had a fitting and ended up with the Zx7's. Hit the BPS and they were awesome but definitely weren't quite as forgiving.

If you are steep the ZX7s if shallow the pings. The ZX7s are a lot cheaper, but both feel amazing.

I have fallen head over heels in love with the OG ZX7's.  The more I use them, the more I think they may be the best irons I have ever had. I did strengthen the PW and 9 to match my 4 degree gaps everywhere but otherwise unchanged. Phenomenal irons
