Strong disagree on this.  The Ryder Cup episodes were justified.  The behind the scenes LIV deal confusion and on Rory's frustration / lack of belief in his ability to win more majors, the stuff he said in the locker rooms, was all pretty interesting.  That said, I don't think I'll bother with the Tom Kim or Joel Dahmen revisited eps.

 

I think the big winners from this series were Rickie and his wife - they both seemed a lot more thoughtful, interesting and relatable than bratty "JT" or Dustin and Paulina - plenty of cringe moments with those guys.

Agree on all of this. I also felt like it would have been interesting to introduce even more new players vs primarily focus on existing names.

Kind of depends what you want from the show I guess. I'd rather have stuff that isn't being covered/shown in the mainstream golf media.

While not a bad idea in terms of presenting something interesting, the new faces aren't going to push views the way the knowns do. Having Rory & Co. in the previews and featured in every episode is likely a stronger draw than the great stories of the new blood. 

 

Tour events can guarantee the eyeballs because most are already fans of golf. Netflix is looking to draw both fans of golf and fans of celeb drama. The new guys aren't celebs yet no matter how good their stories.

 

The F1 show is the same. New drivers don't get play until they already have pull Netflix can build on.

That was actually what I liked about Drive to Survive - covering Lando Norris and Danny Albon before anybody know who they were.

The summary in this thread vindicates my decision not to watch.  Cantlay, Claude Harmon III, Zac J, and JT are way down on my "really like to see how they're doing" list.  JT especially.  Just comes across as a brat/sourpuss to me.  Never seems happy.  Shame as he seems to have a pretty nice life.  Turn that frown upside down JT!

Harmon is by far the worst for mine as the players have the excuse (some might call it flimsy but it’s real) of living in a bubble of privilege & entitlement 

 

I have met quite a few top sportsmen over the years and the JTs are far more common than the Adam Scotts in my experience 

 

Having said that, this is a reality tv show and I have little doubt that they are highlighting the worst aspects of some because that’s what generates ratings
