I watched episode 1.  Leaned way too far into the LIV vs PGATour angle.  Don't they realize that golf fans are tired of this?  Maybe we are not the target audience.

Ha - thanks for the laugh! My God, I'm sorry you had to see that live, in real time. Just reading about it now, second-hand, made me cringe so very mightily. I sure hope there are not more ZJ nicknames to come in future episodes! I'm imagining something like 'The Speith-Meister'.

Well, the 2nd episode showed a lot of Rickie's wife Alison, so I'm already loving it.  I don't think Brook's wife comes across all that well though.  Dustin's seems ok.  Maybe they should just do a series about the wives!  I am finding it a bit more interesting than season 1, though I have no idea who most of the people are they keep going to for narrative.

Right. But do you want a lot of space to drink and walk around in - or do you want to watch golf shots? For the atmosphere, you probably cant beat it. But if you want to watch actual golf - dont go.

I tried to start from the beginning last night - but I realize I just have absolute PGA/LIV exhaustion. Following this stuff in threads here every day and on social media - I just dont want to dig into another medium to talk about it. I really think Netflix does a great job with the sports series that theyve done and maybe I'm just not the target audience at this point.

This was filmed many months ago when that is what everyone was talking about. Kind of the problem with delayed release stuff.

Dustin Johnson maybe one of the only dudes in the US with enough IDFC to put up with that sort of high maintenance delusion. 

I wasn't really aware of the Tom Kim injury at the Open. Definitely won some respect having recently also had a grade 3 tear in my ankle.

His kids not being sure on which majors he won or if he ever played in the Ryder Cup 😂 

 

Personally I didn’t realize the extent of how buddy buddy Zach was with JT, Speith and Fowler.   I knew they were friends but wow they are super tight.  It was kind of gross seeing JT suck up to him, Keegan never stood a chance of getting a pick.  ZJ is up there on the list of worst RC captains of all time, just a total dunce with limited leadership skills.
 

Tom Kim is such a nice and cool dude.  Total badass gutting it out at the Open with that ankle injury.  Watching him try to find player dining at Augusta had me laughing.  It seemed like the others didn’t treat him all that well.

 

Mike Thomas of course needs to get his camera time. 

 

Joel Dahmen, man he does not seem well in this.  Drinking is fun until it isn’t.
 

Jordan Speith kind of has a nasty streak?

 

I don’t know, I’ve always been a Rory fan but he just isn’t likable.  The arrogance just seeps from his pores.

 

I felt like this season highlights just how cutthroat these dudes are.

 

There is something to be said about getting compensated fairly but seeing how these guys really live is eye opening.  The mansions, the cars, the private chef, the flying private and still a feeling of we aren’t getting enough.   A crappy look.

Rickie’s body is terrible and Allison isn’t as hot as I thought she was. 

Yeah, I know. Awful shallow takes and I feel like a horrible human being. But it’s how I felt 🤷🏼‍♂️

Flame me all you want....But Paulina Gretzky is damn fine at 35, and her and DJ have been together 11 years now. They actually seem like they still like each other and have a real relationship.

When Rickie took off his shirt i was a bit like "really" also haha. I feel like i have better abs than him. It's like, you're a pro athlete man!

 

Take it easy on Allison! She's 34 now man and didn't look all dolled up or whatever. She's a naturally good looking chick!

To be fair to her, this is what she has to live up to in my mind. And that was ~14 years ago. So yeah, I get it.

Should have seen Rory as a kid... it was tough to be around. Harry was always the better player until his late teens and a standout dude. Still remember coming off the course fuming after a long day in Connemara and seeing my dad and Harry taping up his back window after Harry closed it into the shaft of an old shag bag. I pull for Rory only to root for Harry.

 Thought this season was pretty weak from a "here's what happened in the 2023 golf season" perspective. The Ryder Cup was a bit too dominant, with nowhere near enough Master's coverage.

 

I thought Tom Kim came across great, but I would rather have had more time focused on Hovland or even what Sahith Theegala is up to now. I felt like this year's Drive to Survive was similar a bit naff - it completely ignored Max Verstappen, and I feel like Full Swing S2 suffered a similar fate by not focusing enough on up and coming players (Åberg, Hovland etc.) and instead doing dumb LIV vs PGA stuff.

And even then, it didn't really close the loop on any of the LIV vs PGA - i.e. why Monahan changed course etc. I thought the bits of the interviewers sucking up to the players was also pretty sycophantic.

No flame from me. I was gonna say earlier that she looks fabulous in the interviews w/the shorter hair. I was pleasantly surprised as she isn’t exactly my preferred cup o’ tea.

I’ve always had a high opinion of Rickie, and it has been confirmed. Tom Kim seems like a great guy. Very surprised how petty Rory was about Brooks having more majors. Also, calling himself the “sacrificial lamb” seemed a bit self important.

If anything this season really put everything into perspective. Rory’s a** performance lately being fueled by his role as PGA spokesman and ZJ and JT’s relationship and the captains pick come to mind. Hindsight is 20/20

Loved Wyndham’s episode! Wasn’t a fan at first but the amount of hard work he’s put in is admirable.
