Ballnamic recommendations

bmmonahan

Recommended Posts

I went to the Ballnamic site and entered my data. Got the results.

Ballnamic recommended the Bridgestone tour bx.  I play the Bridgestone tour rbx, based on Bridgestones recommendations off of swing speed.  At my fastest driver swing speed I can barely get over 96 mph.  The tour bx - according to Bridgestone- says for driver swing swings over 105.

Has anyone experienced where Ballnamic recommended a ball that the manufacturer does not recommend?

Ballnamic also recommends the La golf ball - $69.99 a dozen?  Playing four times a week, that is not feasible.

I've read a lot lately how higher compression balls can benefit all swing speeds, not just 105+.

That said,  I too keep trying to play a ball that ballnamic says I shouldn't because it feels better.  I think I'm going to listen to the data this year and play the ball it recommends.

I wasted a lot of money on Ballnamic and cycling through the balls it recommended....and ultimately found none of them were as good for my game as the two balls I regularly played.

YMMV.

Can you give us some examples of the recommendations and what your gamers are? And why the recs didn’t work out?

I used the numbers from a fitting at a custom club shop and it recommended the Bridgestone BX, BXS and Wilson Traid.

The Bridgestone BX was good off the driver, but shorter on irons for me.  I also prefer a softer ball...I just didn't' like the feel of the BX. The BXS felt like if it got any side spin it would be exacerbated (wasn't good for Texas).  The Wilson Triad was a solid ball....good, not great at anything.

I got better results in every aspect of the game with the Chrome Soft. I also play the Q-Star Tour that which isn't quite as good off the irons as the Chrome Soft, but close enough.

I did the program last year and got the BX as my number one ball. I changed to it and it has performed well and meet all my expectations. My driver speed was 92 for the data entry, my fitter and swing coach said that there are a lot more factors that make up the recommendations. Rightnow I am staying with it's suggestion.

Interesting stuff.  I've done the ballnamic input a number of times and it often suggests BX, BXS, and Triad for me.  I've played BX and BXS quite a bit before, but I'm like you where I've recently preferred a softer ball off the putter.  Been a long time since I've tried QST or Chrome Soft.  The last time I tried Chrome Soft it didn't work out well.  I can't recall if it was because I had a very poor ball striking day or if maybe the ball just wasn't right for me.  I'm currently in search mode for my 2024 ball.  It's not the easiest thing to do to find a ball that is priced well, I like the way it looks, feels, and performs appropriately for me, plus has decent durability.

Just to echo what some have said here.  My Driver swing speed hovers right around the 95-100 mark depending on the day.  I too got Bridgestone BX and put it into play last year.  I have had some success with other balls, and agree that the Tour BX is not my favorite feel, but it did seem to deliver in consistency for me.  After a few rounds, whatever issues I had going from Chrome Soft to BX on feel sort of fell away, and I was happy with them all year.

Now I am excited to try the new model, and hopefully they perform the same way.

This is the key thing.  When Bridgestone uses swing speed as a suggestion for what ball to use, they are making some assumptions that people above or below a certain swing speed will need specific things out of a ball.  But that isn't universally true.  From talking to a Titleist ball fitter, they fit a majority of players into the Pro V1X, regardless of swing speed, because a lot of players hit the ball low with low spin, so the higher flight and spin of the V1X helps them get better results.

New balls have been added.

Wasn’t recommended any of the 2024 stuff I’ve tested 😂. Got Tour BX, LA Golf, Z star Diamond, prov1x, the usual suspects. I entered the numbers I got off of the standard Maxfli Tour and it was still a 94% match. I’m just at an odd in between where I need to decide what I want most out of performance so a lot of balls could be a good fit.

I’ve been waiting over a year for a promo code which Ballnamic themselves told me would be available at some point. I never saw one, and they didn’t get back to my last message a few months ago. I’d like to see the results, but I will be patient. I’m not good enough that the ball will make too big of a difference…yet.

Still waiting…

Not all heroes wear capes…cheers!

Update: 2023 Pro V1, 2023 Snell MTB Prime, and 2023 Pro V1X were my top three recommendations all at 94.4, 94.4 and 94.3. V1 for distance, Prime for trajectory/wind and v1x for a bit more spin. I have pro v1 and v1x in the sim, and I’ve got orig. Snell MTB and MTB-X, but not the Prime. I’ll have to collect a sleeve from someone.

just saw two more recommendations scrolling right, the 2024 Chrome Tour at 93.3 for distance and 2024 Tour BX at 93 for flier prevention. I’ve got these in the sim.

We’ll see how they actually perform and get some data.

There have been a couple of threads on Ballnamic that I have commented in but I’ll just drop this in this one since it’s on the 1st page.

The 24 balls have been added and I save my last fitting and waited on these. Very interesting results. Last year I was always recommended Bridgestone or Callaway as my top 3. This year I was recommended ProV1, Srixon XV and ProV1x as my top 3. Left Dash was my longest ball and best driver ball but wasn’t quite as good for irons and green side. They were all close but very interesting that the previous recos weren’t even in the ballpark. I put actual data in from a range session with an FSK so I trust them. Last year I used an indoor trackman session.

How much of a difference was there in your FSK numbers vs the indoor trackman numbers?

Not a lot at all. I don’t have my old numbers but my swing hasn’t change much at all.

Would be interesting to see what the difference was. Generally iron shots hit off mats tend to launch higher and spin significantly less vs shots hit of grass outside.

Bridgestone has built their entire marketing campaign the past couple decades around selling balls that supposedly work for specific clubhead speeds. That idea has been shown to be ridiculous by every bit of actual data ever collected but they aren't about to admit that now. That idea has convinced an awful lot of punters over the years, regardless of what the actual facts might be.

I'd go with Ballnamic over the Bridgestone suggestion all day. Ballnamic is a calculation based off your inputted data. Bridgestone is simply a recommendation.

It seems that BN loves the Bridgestone BX for a lot of people.
