Slim leg shorts - GG Paul, Greyson

Recommended Posts

Looking for a decent short, about to give up and have a few golf pants made to shorts.

I have chicken legs, been looking for a smaller leg opening.

I have read a few reviews on Galvin Green Paul and Greyson Montauk short being a slim leg, any feedback?

 Thanks

  • Warrick changed the title to Slim leg shorts - GG Paul, Greyson

I think the Montauk shorts are slim all the way through, but especially at the leg opening.

For reference, I wear lulu abc pants (33” waist) every day for work, and they fit maybe a touch on the slimmer side for me. I don’t really think that I have thick legs, but the Montauk shorts fit me like cycling shorts in the same size.

I haven't tried either of the shorts you've mentioned here, but I have tried LLL and others that claim to be "slim," and none of them were. However, Bonobos Highland Tour Golf shorts come in three different fits and two different lengths, and the "Slim" fit is, in fact, slim. They're exactly what I had been looking for, and I highly recommend them. And I, too, have skinny, chicken legs.

The Montauk are like bike shorts on me (please don't picture that) so definitely a slim option.

I'd maybe say for OP look at some European brands. Usually their cuts are slimmer.

Agreed on the montauks.  If you buy your normal size they can be very tight at the leg opening.  You should be safe buying those.

I always buy a size or 2 up and then take them to the tailor to get the waist back to my size.  That creates the perfect short for me.

Excellent feedback, will try out in my normal size.

They probably have world class tailors available but both JT and Akshay are Greyson guys, and they are exceptionally skinny.  I echo the above, they don't fit me at all.  They are definitely a true "slim".

Yeah, I will put that to the test, but Akshay is about my build, just am a bit shorter.

I have a pair on order, pretty excited that I may finally get out of pants when 90.

I swear by these and have pretty much given up on traditional golf brands when it comes to shorts. (Have purchased the JCrew factory and non factory version of the same shorts and there’s no discernible difference between the two. Can be found even cheaper as summer is winding down.)

I’m 5-11 150ish and they’re the best I’ve found by far. One thing to note, they only have 1 pocket in the rear instead of 2.

I have skinny legs and love the Montauk. I think I have at least 6 pairs. I wouldn't really describe them as slim, although I guess they're quite a bit slimmer than my Linksoul shorts.

How would you describe them? The Bonobos "slim" have a slight taper down to a narrow (compared to most other shorts I've tried out) leg opening (which is 10.25" or 10.5", as I recall -- where everything else is typically at least 11"+).

Honestly the fact that the Montauk smallest size is 30 just shows they aren’t for skinny guys. Kidding. Kind of. (Full disclosure I have never tried them. 30 doesn’t work very well for me.)

Yeah, am a 29, but wanted to give em a chance

I'll try to remember to measure them. I did have mine tailored to remove some of the length, which might have affected the leg opening slightly. The standard length is around 10.5" and I wanted something more like 8.5-9".

These may just work, wish they had a 29 waist, can wear with a belt, but probably need taken in. These are about the best fit I have found in the legs.

Thanks all, probably need 1 more color

I know there are fans of the Montauk but they are inferior in every way to kjus Iver and similar price. The Montauk feel very cheap and depending how tall you are I'd say (under 6ft) they are going to be long.

They have the 8" now, so length shouldn't be an issue either way.  I can get montauks for about $65 a pop, still much better value than KJUS.

How many pairs of ivers do you own? They go on sale too. I own several of both, but if you want a 9 inch short I'd personally choose the Iver and think the fit is better and construction is higher quality. If you own both and disagree then that's ok.

Have a couple of Iver's myself.  Not talking on sale, I'm usually lucky with discount codes and volume with Greyson.  I personally like the feel of the Montauk better, but nothing wrong with KJUS at all.  I'm sure there are many others that prefer that feel.

I’ve been curious about these and glad to hear the leg openings are slim.  Can you comment on how the stretch is on these compare to something like Adidas Ultimate365 or UA isochill?

GG Paul is most definitely slim through the thigh and opening. I work for them. Greyson short fit is similar, maybe a little more room in the rear.

Sorry, no help here. At this point I don’t have any other brands of shorts that I wear to the golf course. I own a couple pair of Nike dri fit slim 5 pocket pants and those definitely have more stretch. (The pocket design is annoying but if you need slim pants that flex they’re a good option.) The stretch is definitely there but I wouldn’t say they’re overly stretchy. I wear some jeans and long pants that definitely stretch more.

The leg opening isn’t tapered or anything, the shorts are just cut fairly slim in general is my take on them. I’m 5’11, >150, and do triathlons as well. These are my go to shorts. For the price I would say they’re worth a shot and are pretty much always found on sale.
