Both woahnelly and I thought someone coming from a ways back was a strong possibility....but I certainly wouldn't have taken 100-1 that Moriya would be that person.

 

Nice drama, even the girlfriend put her phone away.  And they got a great eight, Nelly and Rose no doubt top two on the organizers "wish" list.

 

For comparison, last years final 8 and approx RR at the time:  Celine (11), Leona (17), Ayaka (19), Linn (23), Carlota (32), Pajaree (95), Albane (121), Lindsey WW (155).

Yes interesting line up, good to see some euro interest with Leona, defo strong in match play so be very hard to beat, even for Nelly!  Another frustrating week for us LG fans, the 2 X double bogeys in last few holes just a killer when she could/should of maybe squeezed in the 8. 😶 Hope she gets some good practise before Chevron. 🤞

From previous posts you will know I am not a fan of the lack of match play for a designated match play however got to say this is compelling viewing with a top field, stellar course (difficulty and visually lovely) and a dose of poor weather to spice it up further.

 

Would prefer 16 or 32 in the match play section as others have suggested but this still should throw up some fine matches.

 

An interesting component having to make the top 8 (or 16 or 32 or whatever in a more match play version).

 

So far excellent and can't wait for the matches.

I must say I've changed my mind about this format - I'm really enjoying this as well. Three days of stroke play and a 2 day match to cap it off. That's a lot of good golf!

Yep, I'm coming around too.

 

As @Argonne69 posted, if there was 16 in the match play section would simply need to play the semis and the final on day 5, so will still just take 5 days ( 3 x stroke play & 2 days match play) plus the scheduling helps those going into match play being earlier in the year (so less hot) and a week off before the Chevron. This would be my Nirvana given pro time constraints and their (mostly mild) match play desire.

 

A small amount of tweaking would make this a key event in the calendar, what with all the Las Vegas hospitality for the players associated with the event.

 

Anyway, thumbs up to the LPGAT so far, it's fine viewing (go Leona!).

Nobody mentioning Katsu but she was a prolific winner in Japan, she can do it too!

Maybe, but she was 'only' 1 under in beating Rose on the 13th (still good).

 

Could be a serious SF vs Leona, we shall see, Leona faltered at the SF last year (heat fatigue and Furue's excellence).

Did they broadcast the matches this morning ???  I just saw the end of the Valero Texas open and the beginning of the LPGA Match coverage.  WTH ???  They announce the results of today's action and then they show it ????  Thats just dumb....If u have a delayed  coverage, dont announce results first.  Its like announcing the final score of a football game and then start the game.

The 4 quarterfinal matches were played earlier today. The broadcast now is the 2 semifinal matches.
