PM Grind, anyone still using one?

Recommended Posts

Ever since the first PM Grind came out I had always had one in the bag. It was a phenomenal wedge that transformed my short game, the ability of the sole to just slide under the ball without ever digging made me feel like a short game superstar!

Then in 2022 I hit a hidden rock in the rough and ruined my wedge. A long journey of various wedges that didn't work as well began.

Today I buckled and bought a 58 PM Grind 2 from the net and can't wait to have it back in the bag!

Does anyone else still game one?

If you don't then what did you transition to that really works wonders for you?

It does, although they are mostly about my battles with the pitch yips, lol!

The heel relief was inspired by the Nike Toe Sweep wedges and I can use shaft tilt (higher or lower hands) to affect which part of the sole comes in contact with the sand or grass.  I can also then use opening and closing the face to affect loft.  So if the lie is firm/hardpan/tight, I lower my hands a touch and then use opening the face to give me the height I need.  If the lie is soft/fluffy/thick, I raise my hands a bit and then open the face the necessary amount.  And of course shaft lean (towards or away from the target) can also be used to alter how much bounce is delivered for the shot.

Now if only I could get good enough to do everything I just said..........

I would be if I could still get them with fresh grooves.

I preferred the OG in lob wedge lofts. I preferred the second generation in sand wedge lofts because they added the 54 option.

I've pretty much exclusively played Full Face / Hi Toe wedges since the original PM Grind came out in 15.

The Jaws Full Toe was a major step back IMO. Much prefer the Cleveland  Full Face and TM Hi Toe for whatever reason.

I don't think I could use a traditional looking wedge anymore. They look alien to me like the pm grind does to normal people.

I still have two raw 58* OG's that I'm trying to keep "gamer-able" as long as possible.  If anyone knows where I can find more, I'm always on the lookout for inevitable replacements.

Has to be the greatest bunker wedge of all time.

Certainly agree about the Jaws Full Toe. Bought one with excitement and it fairly quickly went into the garage.

I still use the original version 56 and 60. Can’t find anything I like better but I grew up with original Eye 2s so always like the scooped sole grind.

Anyone know of places that “regroove” wedges?

You may want to check with Continental Golf.

A low cap friend sold me his new spares 54 & 58 before we went on a 10 round in 6 days trip.

Not sure how but I was chipping better that I should have been.  Or ever.

He was having seller’s remorse and but I wasn’t returning them.

Found a 8 out of 10 58 & 64 a month ago. Will practice with the that 58 and see how I do with the 64.

I had bought a Ping Eye copper LW last spring, a buddy commented “I didn’t know you could do that”  after 18 holes with the Ping wedge.  Was thinking the same thing…

Timeless design that helps a hack like me😀

The PM 64 has a stronhold in my bag.  I prefer it to the Full Toe 64, but like the Full Toe 54 and 60 better than the PM’s.  For half, 3/4, and sometimes full shots, I find the Full Toes easier to flight down.  Greenside the PM’s are hard to beat.

There will not be a 64 option in the next wedge release.
