My first set of Mizuno irons were the MP54 - loved them.  Bought a set later in life that happened to coincide to me aging and losing ball speed.  I didn’t enjoy them as much the second time around, but not the clubs fault.

In today’s product line, the 243 are the most similarly constructed.  But, you’d have to learn to play right handed. (UGH!)

I think the closest you could come would be to combo the 245 (longer irons) with the 241 (scoring irons).  Otherwise, go grab as many sets as you can afford and play them as long as you can.  I don’t think you will find another brand with the same feel.

There are a lot of outstanding irons with incredible feel available.  But……

I've tried them and no they are not close

I had the MP54 and Z745 at the same time. Both great irons, but went with the 745 which felt and looked better to me. The MP54 seemed to spin too much for me and were a bit short.

If you have a mint set of clubs you love, you are all set.

I still play my ~10 year old MP54s on occasion and they're great. I keep demo'ing new Mizuno models but just can't justify them because I don't get anything out of them that MP54s don't provide. I agree that if OP has a mint set and likes them then don't worry about something new that's similar.

TSR3 9* - Diamana WB 63X

Mini Burner 13.5* - HZRDUS 4G 70 6.5

Srixon ZXU 4 23* - MMT 105

My set of MP63 , which I believe was approximately year 2011 production,  is great and in some ways better than the more recent Mizuno models.

I’m not sure there is anything close to the style of iron to go with that feel.  54’s were unique with that little pocket cavity but still feels like that old school Mizuno marshmallow compression type feel.  Plus the soles were still fairly thin for that style as well.

Not sure 716 cb’s are even close to the same design.  Maybe the sole is close?  Great iron in its own right though!

Not new, but something like j40 dpc?  Or New Level 902 Forged has a pocket cavity as well or New Level 1126 pro.  Not exactly the same design, but the mp20 mmc might be close as well.

Just a rare iron design these days with most of the forgiveness movement going to hollow body.

Those 54’s were awesome!  Great find!

I just recently sold my 233s and some Blueprint S's to go back to the 63s (and some new Cobra mb/cb's I'm trying out).   The 63s are just so reliable and feel better than newer Mizunos imho.

Why would you mention the 243, but not the 223 when it's available in lefty?

I played the Mp-54s for a year or so and just sold them. While not brand new, the J15 CBs are very close. Some of the forged Honma models are also really nice feel with decent forgiveness, the TW7xx series and TR20vs. I found the New Level forged irons to be excellent as well at a good price point, PF-2 are what Im gaming now and while slightly smaller than the 54s are surprisingly forgiving with excellent feel.

I think the feel of recent irons say post-2017 has gone backwards.

If you are referring to Mizuno.......yes, I agree.

Hollow heads, Chromalloy, brass underlays etc... lead to louder impact sound. I like my JPX 923 Tour irons fine but the impact sound-feel is not as soft as my set of MP63.

Love threads that validate my usage of the ol' MP-54s 🙂.

I don't have an answer for OP, but would go for GI irons for real forgiveness, then go back to something more classic like MP-32 for real feel.  Mix, combo, or rotate as desired, and keep testing players irons for the worthy successor.

I have a set of 54s, haven't played them in over 5 years. Great in the short irons (8-pw), mid and long irons go too high for some reason. Feel fantastic though.

Best LH Mizuno iron set was MP68. Forgiving for a blade, perfect flight and feel.
